Underhood hygiene

Guys, this is kind of a silly question, but I like to give my engine compartment an occaisional bath. Are there any componets, or sensors on CR engines that should be avoided?I know old school gas engines you have to be aware of moisture in the distributor, air filters, and hot cast iron parts don`t like cold showers, but when it comes to a diesel engine I don`t have a clue what I should be avoiding if anything??

Low pressure on anything electrical is fine, but don't spray it too much. The connectors are water-tight, but don't test them. Other wise I spray mine off fairly often.

My irrigation system is about 116 PSI at the hose and does a wonderful job of cleaning all the grease and grime off the engine. This allows me to keep track of oil leaks and where they are coming from. Everytime the truck gets washed the engine and all the underside is rinsed off too.

Do y'all use any type of grease/oil/dirt cutting agent before spraying??? Spray it on, let it set a while, and then hose off..........is what I mean.

I use simple green or purple power and wash it yearly.

I spray on Zep and let it soak on a slightly warm engine about 140*F and then wait a few minutes and blast it off.

I do the same as Mike, with the exception that I use Simple Green. Mike, you crack me up posting up a picture for well...everything. Its awesome.

Well I use a lot of products or stuff that most never even heard of. But are typically found in big chain stores. Like Simple Green. If I just posted Zep Orange Degreaser most would be like Huh?

No. I wish... Most of all the fund donated to the site is re-invested back in the site one way or another. There is a rare time or two when people send me gifts by snail mail solely for me.

I gave mine a good wash and then it was surging slightly. I installed a Timbos Apps and when I took my old one off it had water in it. If I would have let it dry out it would have probably been OK. So next time I'll be putting a bag over the Apps cover.

I went to Oreilly, and they did`nt have the Zep or Simple green, So I tried their Purple power in the gallon jug. It did`nt say anthing about diluting it so I poured it strait in a spray bottle... The stuff really takes you breath away when you get a good whiff. Anyway.. at $7 bucks a gallon is a hell of alot better buy than the aerosol cans they try to promote.. just my:2cents:
