line x rockers

To start with ive always hated the silver rockers, and this past winter pinch weld in the drivers door started to rust. I had planned on getting the rust stoped and having the rockers line x color matched to the red. ive got a quote of $1400. At that price line x is out of the question I've convinced my self that i would like the black rockers better than silver with rust spot in drivers door lol So has any one used any of the DIY bed-liners? How have they held up? what is your opinion on red trucks with black rockers?

I saw a red Toyota today with rhino line rockers and didn't like it. I'm thinking about line x all the way to bottom of windows. Some people around here do their whole truck. Looks awesome. I didn't know they could color match. That's cool i don't like when rockers are done and then the little rubber shopping cart strip above it. Just my opinion though.

I did line-x and went ack and forth between black and white to match. I went with black and sometimes I like it but sometimes I dont. I want to eventually paint the truck dark graphite and I believe the black rockers wont bother me then. I didnt have any rust but had alot of rock chips, plus it was alot cheaper than a paint job.

I got a quote from line-x locally for some work and was not too impressed. I then became convinced that I will DIY it one day when I find alot of time on my hands. DIY with Herculiner, or the Duplicolor rattle can stuff.The latter is what my buddy Smike did on the bottom of his patriot blue over silver second gen. It looks WAY better dark blue over black. Hides the rust that starts to poke through yearly much better too.

sure beats $1400!!! i have a quart of paint i had mixed up to paint tailgate, so from what i have read i can use it for the color.

i ordered the liner kit and after reading several reviews i decided to go with the brush/roller kit rather than the gun. i dont want to have to worry about the over spray and if it sprays anything like a can of undercoating it would be nearly impossible to get an even coat.

i plan on doing a test coat on a piece of flat steel with the color match, if it dont turn out ill go with black.

I am waiting on a I ordered yesterday its called monsterliner, a good friend turned me on to this product he has a 1985 jeep wrangler completely covered with this product and I have personally seen this product get drug over rocks that line-x wouldn't survive, I say this because I have damaged my line-x that is in my bed now with a shovel oops. http://www.monstaliner.com/monstaliner_why_choose.htm. I am doing the whole underside of my truck with it. Depending on looks the rockers as well the company that makes the product has been around for almost a hundred years now so I'd say they have stood the test of time. I ordered the two gallon black kit yesterday and plan to apply next weekend and I will document the whole process and take plenty of pictures.

I've got a couple small imperfections on my rockers. Thinking about using bed liner or some vinyl decal material to cover it up and break it up. Maybe a grass pattern, since I mow lawns for a living. Is the liner hard to keep clean? I'd go with black, since my truck is white.

I have seen most 'diy' liner kits usually come with base white and black.. and you can mix to various levels of gray. From what I've read, its just a matter of adding the pigment factor (from paint shops) to 'color code'... some guys will purchase a spray gun to lay it down, or choose to slather it on with a roller. Done right, I kinda like it!

Check out my truck pic in the truck of the month thread. It's white with line-x and no problem to keep clean.

Hey Rogan is ramhunter a member here? My truck is the same color as his and Ive got the same bushwacker flares, the bedliner at the bottom really pops the truck IMO. Looks good.What make and size tires does he run?

Well I change my mind. That red dodge looks sweet!!as far as keeping it clean, what about mud? I have a two mile dirt road that gets pretty brutal in the winter months. That's why I want to go up to the window line. Truck gets pretty muddy.

Not saying you will ever sell your truck, but I've said that before, as well.. Bear in mind that liner up to the windows... You'll really narrow your potential buyer list. Just sayin'..

With the line-x premium, it comes clean just like paint. Rinse it off and soapy water it cleans up nice.

I asked earlier without comment. What do you guys think of treating the rocker panels with Hammerite paint? Its cheap and really durable and could be retreated (touched up) for $5. Plus it's probably easier to clean than bed liner.
