I know a guy that had new injectors installed and a few other things like the KDP done and exhaust manifold surfaced. He spent $4,000. Does anyone know what the labor charge or at least the number of hours it should take a shop to change my injectors?

Shouldnt be any more than like 2-3 hours I would imagine. I have never done a set myself but just guessing at the amount of time it would take. At a shop rate of $85 per hour I wouldnt think anymore than $300 total for the job. IF you supplied your own injectors of course.

Front crank seal (which what it takes to do kdp) 1.8 hrs

Injectors 2.1

Exhaust 2.1

He got bent over unless he got serious injectors. I cant believe what people are getting charged to do stuff. I would feel bad if i did that to my customers. Why did he have him surface the manifold?

I show 2.0 hrs for injectors for all six injectors. So I would say MoparTech is close enough for the rest...

I've heard some out outrageous prices for injection pump installs and other things...

Doing the injectors is pretty straight forward, I think that you should be able to do them yourself Joe, there are a few write ups here and lots of help if you need any.  I did mine and it only took a little over two hours total.

Injectors are a very straight forward to do yourself if you are handy. The only specialty tool I remember is the torque wrench for the injector hold downs ( 89 in pounds ) and the torque wrench for the rocker arms ( 27 ft pounds ). I had never done them before and it took me a 3 hours going slow and taking my time. Also a good time to adjust valves!  :thumb1:

Man it takes me 3.5hrs to do injectors and a valve adjustment on the ones I work on. I think the hardest part is turning the alternator and watching the timing marks at the same time.

40 hp injectors. I think he had an exhaust leak on the manifold. Forgot to mension that it was a 12 valve.

Thanks Jonathan. Good to hear from you. Yeah, I have all the tools I'd need and I'd adjust the valves at the same time.

I say Do it yourself it's rather easy. It took me 4hrs taking my time and it was my first time doing an injector install. Now, I think I could do it in 2 hrs or so. Like previously stated watch some YouTube videos and use them for reference during the install if need be.

Good Grief!! That much for injectors, KDP, and exhaust leak? Injectors on a 12V can be replaced in about an hour. I know that for a fact due to the time it took to replace mine on a hot engine. The KDP took me 2 1/2 hours with nothing but hand tools. For the rest he could have purchased a three piece manifold, paid to have it installed and still saved money. Your buddy got bent over real bad........

That's what my brother is for!  :lmao:

Where's the best place to get new bosch 40-50 horse injectors? Are they match tested?

www.dieselautopower.com will treat you best & they are flow matched with high pressure fluid, instead of low pressure air.

I second DAP! Love my injectors. Picked up a couple mpg, greatly increased power, and drastically lowered engine noise.

I love my 75 hp DAP, my exgirlfriend said my truck loved her more than my, I am guessing that it was the engine.  I gained a few mpg, but the injectors really woke the engine up.  I have heard a lot of good about smaller injectors, but if I were to do it again I think I would stick with the 75's.  Wish I was closer, I would come over and help, I don't think that you will have any problems at all.
