Oem and me dont get along so i cant help you on that one.As far as the oil how long do you go before you change it? How hard do you work it?Do you let it idle long? How fond of your truck are you?Farm&fleet has valvoline premium blue 15/40.Thats all i use.It is around 10.00 a gal.Funny thing, a friend with a gas truck had changed his oil every 3000 miles for the first 100k miles. Then just added when low and it lasted another 100k miles.I hate to say you would be fine with the sam's oil.I just dont know.I do know you cant go wrong with the premium blue.

Thanks for quick reply. The oil I'm questioning is not a Sam's club brand. The first is Chevron and the second is Mobil, just to avoid any confusion. It just happens that Sam's has them at decent prices. As for intervals, 7500 for changes, all stock, mainly highway miles to/from work 60 miles one way. On off weeks putting around town. Little to no towing. Easy on the pedal. Minimal idling, block heater for couple hours in morning, and then maybe a 5-10 minute warmup after that, if that.

wow. 3k or less for me.

Why so early? Geez... That got to cost a bunch... Even when the dealer did the first few changes I done them as suggested at 6K miles... After 30K miles I was doing them at 7.5K miles then once I added the Frantz Filter I went to 10K miles... Here is the maintenance schedule from the Dodge FSM... http://mopar.mopar1973man.com/cummins/2ndgen24v/maintenance/maintenance.htm Then here is the write up on Frantz... http://mopar.mopar1973man.com/personal/2002/frantz-filter/frantz-filter.htm Talk to Dorkweed he hasn't change oil in 70K miles now... Using WalMart Unverisal 15W-40 and a MotorGuard Filter (simular to Frantz Filter)... Been testing his oil through Blackstone Labs and still passing the grade constantly... http://www.blackstone-labs.com/

Without stirring up a fuel pump debate, where is best price to find an OEM lift pump? Thanks. Also, can I safely use the following oils from Sam's Club: 1. Delo 15W40 API CJ-4 2. Mobil Delvac 1300 super 15W40 also same API ratings Thanks.

Lone Watie: On the question of Mobil Delvac 1300 Super 15W40, In 1958 my oldest brother branched out on his own from my father's garage and started his own "heavy truck and trailer" garage. For whatever reason (I can't remember why) he decided on Mobil Delvac 15W40 as the motor oil to stock in his shop. I worked for him for a little more than 11 years before branching out on my own. My youngest brother operates that same shop today. I would venture to say, that thousands of diesel trucks have had service (including repetetive oil changes) in that shop in the last 52 years, and every one of them got Mobil Delvac 15W40. We even used it (and they still do) in their gas shop pickup's. I personally have owned a fair number of diesel cars, pickup's, and small dumpers myself and have never used any oil other than Delvac 15W40. Now this may sound like a long winded answer to your question, but if you are looking for a petroleum based oil to get the job done for your diesel, I can tell you that for 50 plus years Delvac has worked very well for us.

I just bought a 2000 witha brand new lift pump I will be removing in favor of an airdog150. I would be willing to sell it if you are interested. The lift pump has less than 1000 miles on it installed by a dodge dealer, not sure what brand it is but I could find out pretty quick if you are interested. Chris

Just a though on the lift pump since I am currently in the market I know the airdog which is mine of choice at this time is mounted to the frame. The stock one that is old and doing ok at this point pressure wise is mounted to the side of the block and when I approached Mopar regarding a stock replacement and the cost compared to the airdog and to find they sold a 379 dollar retro fit kit that moved it to the tank therfore meaning I would have to drop the tank. Has anyone else heard of this kit and quite frankly if it is the case who'd want to drop the tank everytime it quits I'd be fine with stock if it was 200 and in the same place but I'm not dropping my tank for 400 lol and they say this started four years ago with great success not meaning to start a big debate just would like to know what you guys have heard

I think you hit the nail on the head with the in-tank pump. When it fails it's way more labor to replace than a frame mounted pump especially if your not close to home when it fails and you have to pay to have someone else do it (my trucks rarely give me trouble unless I'm more than 500 miles from home:banghead:). For under $400.00 you can get a Raptor 100 or 150 with a lifetime warranty that is very easy to install or replace in the event of a failure. The only draw back with the Raptor (or AirDog) is in the event of failure you would have to wait for a replacement to be sent to you. Than again, if your local Dodge dealer is like mine, they stock only common replacement parts and would have to order an in-tank pump if you needed a replacement one.

It is a drawback to have to wait to have one sent to you but, I bet that it would still be quicker than how long it take to get it from Dodge. I've had it take up to a week to get parts sent from the Dodge whse. to my local dealer. I know when I ordered my Raptor, I received it the next day! Which I have to admit I was totally shocked. Regardless, I wouldn't trust a stock lift pump or a stock retrofit from the dealer! I think the past history speaks for itself when it comes to this area of our trucks.

Thats a nice setup and definately giving the airdog a run for its money other than the fact that the airdog has proved it self already and has a better warrenty I like though with holley I can go down ultimate truck in town here and build that kit like he said for about 300 which is what I would like to pay and that includes the second filter. My question is does the airdog actually increase power and effciency like most have claimed and does it really help to quiet the engine? It was also to my understanding 400 just got you the pump minus the filter kit is that correct?

I would say it helped but how much it hard to tell...

and does it really help to quiet the engine?

No...

Raptor 100/150 is just a pump...

AirDog 100/150/165 is pump, pre filter, water separator, 2 micron filter, and air seperation...

i think the "increase power and efficiency" is only if the pump you are replacing is not providing the proper fuel rates to your injection pump. mine was barely moving ANY fuel. when i installed my airdog, i gained a lot of power. all OE power, but because of proper fueling i recovered all the factory power my truck had. it made little difference on engine sound. because of location, i could always hear the factory lift pump in the cab. i cannot hear the airdog in the cab when the truck is running.

the only reason i got the 150 over the 100 is they were the exact same price.
