I've been lurking for a few days trying to learn what I could about my recent purchase, a 2001 Dodge Ram 3500 4x4 quad cab with 8ft bed. So far I love the truck, been needing to upgrade for a while and finally pulled the trigger on this one with only 140k miles and a 5 speed manual. Nothing fancy about the truck, manual windows and locks, basically a work truck but I am fine with that. I'll be posting some of my questions later in the 2nd gen forums but for now just wanted to introduce myself and my truck a bit.

Been watching this site for years, havn't been on many forums lately since I had to sell my 06 megacab. Just picked me up my third cummins (other one was a 02) its a 2001 sport, auto. I sure did miss the diesel. If you guys have any technical questions, I'm a former Dodge/cummins tech and spent many of years under the hood of 2nd/3rd gen trucks. I still do some side work, which keeps me busy.

Hello new to this. I have a 2001 dodge ram 3500 6 speed had 264xxx on it when I first got it. Now has 317xxx. Me and a friend put a new short block in it at 303xxx and many more including 75hp injectors, new trans and new t-case. Now just need to get a bit bigger turbo to feed the injectors.

northbound on US 95 through New Meadows ID when I lost the serpentine belt ('93 F250 7.3L) right in front of this here webmaster's doorstep. I wandered up to his front door a frustrated and slightly broken man and was made welcome. Mike (mopar1973man) opened his home and his garage to my troubles and gave me valuable assistance. Unfortunately, a simple garage on the side of the highway far from any OEM distributor or machine shop could solve my troubles in a timely manner (sheared bolt on the tensioner pulley) and I had to phone in a couple favors to haul me and my wreck away. On the bright side I have my own semi truck ('04 IHC 9400i Cummins ISX Meritor 10 speed Rockwell…

This site was mentioned in a post over at ecomodder.com. I am a new owner of a 2006 3500 QC ST dually 5.9 with a 6 speed manual. It was a lease truck with a flatbed and 133k miles on it. The family-owned dealer said he put on all new brakes (rotors/drums and pads), new heater core, all fluids changed including the rear end. Detailed by his daughter. New motor was installed around 90k - so says the dealer. I think the PO might have meth injected it. There were a couple of plugs in the exhaust manifold that might have had a couple of "somethings" installed and removed, most likely from the old motor. Regardless, the engine had no signs of head coking or other leaks, shifts …

Already submitted a couple posts so I thought I should do the intro. Recently purchased my second Ram Turbo Diesel. In '03-'04 I had a first gen dually that came with a 30 ft 5th wheel RV. My wife & I are looking to get back into the RV scene, and we've started with the truck. Lots of new info to learn about the 24 valve machines - this seems like a good place to get smart.Been wrenching on all my own equipment for 40+ years. Aero engineeer for the Navy (F-18 support equipment). Long time hobby has been restoration of vintage British & european motorcycles, specifically Nortons, BMWs, Moto Guzzi's, and Ducatis from the '70s.Appreciate the help & look forward t…

I am getting two codes p0382,p0121. Its seems to not want to shift, its just running at 3k rpms and idles at 1k. I have replace manifold gaskets turbo gaskets and put a new exhusts with banks down pipe. I also put a new waste gate that is bigger than the original. I read on a web site to reset the apps by disconnecting the neg battery cables, let sit for 30min, hook back up and turn key to on without starting. Then slowly push the gas pedel down and slowly let it up. The problems seemed to …

Hello all, Vaughn MacKenzie here. Probably know or have met some of you guys over the years. Been on NW Bombers and Turbo Diesel Register for 20+ years. A few years ago something interesting happened. We were in S. Idaho chasing the UP 844 steam engine and stopped to grab a bite to eat at a restaurant. When we were there we spotted a Ram in the lot with a big Mopar1973 window sticker. Hmmm. Sure enough we found out it belonged to the man himself! It was great meeting Michael, we had a really nice visit. I have owned quite a few trucks, all 2nd and 3rd Gen. Let's see, in order: 1998 24V LB CC 4x4 5-speed (1999-2000) 2001 QCSB 4x2 6-speed (…

Hello all! New forum member here. I hail from the great North of Idaho. Finally had to stop lurking around and get involved! Great wealth of info for me that suit my needs! I'm also on cumminsforum, but it seems many of those guys are into the HP/TQ than just making a stout reliable truck. I'll be posting up on the 2nd gen 24v forum if some of you guys can help me out with a couple things.. Thanks in advance and I hope I can get to know everyone!

Hi guys!! Im new here. Just brought home a 2002 2500 Laramie 6 speed with 103xxx miles. Bone stock. It felt like home. I originally had a 2001.5 that I bought in 2002 and discovered the world of a modded Cummins. It was a lot lot of fun. I learned that 310 horse at rear wheels has zero issue pulling out and passing people at 70 with 20k on the deck of gooseneck. Seats killed me on road trips. Lost my mind and sold it in 2011. Dumb ***. Regeretted that sale 3 months after it. Bought a little speedy just wrong 2500 a few years ago. Absolute men…
