2005 2500 cummins. 245,000. Only major has been new tranny like 80k ago. Older Adrenaline quad (now unhooked). A month ago doing 80 on I-75 she shuts down like someone turned off the key from run to accessory. No power steering but lights and radio still working. Just got real quiet... Got her off the road, tried to start her -- she'd crank like normal but simply would not fire. Tried for 1/2 hour. Disconnected battery, waited, re-connected -- no dice. Had to get to work so got a tow to a local diesel shop and a rental car (had to get to work for a few days). I go back 4 days later, "It was your programmer, we disconnected it, works good!" ---- i was surprised but it…

I've got an AirDog 165, and a CAT 2um filter, supplying my dual CP3's. So the A/D pulls from my sump sends it through my Baldwin BF1275, then to my Fleetgaurd FF5617, then to my CAT 1R-0750, and finally to the CP3's. I often run through the deserts of California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas so fuel stations are few and far between, and often I just have to get fuel where I can. Injectors and CP3's are expensive and breaking down on the side of the road is even worse with those costs. My question is, I know the BF1275 is the best F/WS I can use, but the Fleetgaurd isn't the best F/F I can use. What filter should I use on the A/D that would still flow adequately and comp…

Ever since I got my truck, once in a while the wipers won't work on intermittent and they will also stop where ever they are when I turn them off. If I turn them on and let them sweep a couple of times they will work properly and go the park position when shut off. Is this a possible relay in the PDC problem?

2006 5.9 Cummins Auto 45,000 miles. All original. Been running fine. Went to start it up one morning and it fired right up and then the horn started blowing, I immediately turned it off as i thought i hit the panic button. Try again and nothing, won't turn over or even click the starter. All lights are working, radio etc. Batteries are showing 12.5 volts. Read something about key fob batteries, changed them, nothing changed. Pulled cables off battery terminals (4) and cleaned terminals and hoped while disconnected it would reset security feature. Replaced and then it would crank but not start. Check engine light flashing quickly and fuel pump in the tank ran constantly. …

I would love to get some feedback on this if possible. Thanks to ME78569, I am sitting hear at my truck and have done everything in the instructions for the calibration with only one hang up. I couldn't get the arduino to open when I double click the turboreset.ino. I was just wondering what I need to do to get that ino file to work. Is the ino file that same text that he has shown below the canbus library .zip? Do I need to change any values on the code itself or just copy, paste, and upload. All that happens right now is that when I connect power to turbo I hear it actuate immediately and I don't get any slow movement after 5 seconds. Just a quick actuation and t…

I got a surprise call from the PO of my 07 mega cab tonite and boy was it a surprise! He gives me the history on my truck and wow, it answered all my questions about a 6.7 and I've solved the EB not working mystery! He says: -It's got a category 5 suncoast rebuilt transmission. Said he hauled a heavy load on original trans and messed something up and immediately had the category 5 rebuilt transmission put in with a package deal they were doing at the time with H&S tuner. He said it was good to either 500 or 700hp. I think 500. Claims this was an $8k tranny that he was really bummed about just letting go with the truck. He wanted to replace it w…

Just thought I would share what took me 16 hours to find in case someone has the issue in the future. A customer traveling through on I-40 with a fifth wheel rv in tow got a check engine light and stopped by the shop for us to have a look. Truck has 212,000 miles. Hooked up Snap-on diagnostic. Found a stored P0341 fault. Cleared fault and started engine and watched live data on the Snap-on. Cam speed readings were all over the place. Swapped places with CKP and CMP sensors and still had erratic cam speed readings. Pulled entire engine sensor harness off of engine to give a thorough inspection. Found 2 wires on CMP sensor plug in bad shape so I replaced all 3 w…

My "new to me" truck is a 2005 Ram 3500 auto and it has a Banks exhaust brake and a CBC Smartlock on it. It is vacuum operated, but doesn't work. There is vacuum to the actuator when needed, but it appears the diaphragm leaks. A new actuator from Banks is $137.76 (part #55062). Anybody replace one? Just wondering if anyone has any experience with the Banks brake.

Today I got to spend a few minutes under the front end of my truck (2005 3500 2WD). I noticed the bump stops are really close and have definitely been used. I could not even slide my finger between the rubber and the steel. They appear to have less than 3/4" of space.Even the tie rods are going slightly up hill from the rack to the wheels. I have been pouring money into this truck (all oils, filters, muffler, exhaust manifold gaskets, exhaust brake repair, plus other things I am sure to forget) so I don't want to go buy new springs yet. Any other suggestions?

Hello. I got a 2005 5.9 I fried the ecm battery cable arced while it was running. Truck would crank but not start. Don't know what else it may have fried. So I got a remanufactured ecm. Truck started right up but I had dead pedal. Tried to reset it a few times but still wouldn't work. Procedure I used was unhooking batteries with key on overnight. Key off, connect batteries. Key on but not start. Pedal to floor slowly then back up slowly. Key off. I've read that is for earlier models, that the 05 with the apps built into the pedal resets every time u key on. I don't know. So I ordered a new apps pedal assembly thinking I may have frie…

03 with 271k. It has an occasional knocking sound as well as it stops gaining RPM at 2100 then starts a squealing noise. the knocking noise which only happens at low start off RPMs and then quits, comes and goes but the RPM issue is constant. does this sound like a CP3 issue or something else? are the two symptoms related?

This is the 3rd common rail I have built recently with this Cummins error. This is a late 2007 5.9 backed by a 6 speed manual. Notice the rod orientation upon dis-assembly. The rods are backwards. This engine only had 190k miles and had not been opened up on the bottom end since new. Engine failed due to broken rings on cylinders 1 and 4 caused by failed injectors. Truck is a 1 owner since new that knows complete history. I've also attached service instructions direct from Cummins Quickserve. Figured I would post for the Common Rail folks. How it is assembled now.

Hey Hey! I have a 05 CTD that will not hold prime in the fuel filter housing. To date I have done: New FCA, Fuel pressure regulator, relief valve, New transfer pump and module in the tank. Checked the supply and return line to the filter housing from, the tank, no leaks. tightened all injector fuel tubes. double checked all injector lines, no problems or defects. Checked my fuel supply to the CP3 660 Mil. in 10 seconds. Hot engine CP3 return to the tank 700 Mil in 60 seconds. Checked injectors return hot engine to tank 100 Mils in 60 seconds. Replaced all banjo washers with Tork Teks. Replaced the rubber hoses to and from the CP from filter housing. Also carefully …

I just put steering wheel radio controls in my truck. They plugged right into my clock spring, but don’t seem to be working. Do I need to get my PCM flashed like I did for high idle? Has anyone else gotten them to work? Do I need the dash harness also? Thanks for any help you guys can offer.

My search of the site may have missed this topic, so if it's elsewhere, please point me in that direction. My situation is this. I have an 04 Ram 2500 4x4, 5.9 auto tranny with 170k on it. From what I can tell it's a stock truck, no extra tuning, or significant upgrades. I use it to carry around my pop-up, slide-in camper, which when loaded, is probably at 1800#. I'm pretty religious on keeping the "wear" items" (brakes, fluids, alignment . . . ) maintained. My issue is; twice now I've had the brakes over heat on steep grades. Once was while in the back country of BC (logging roads) the most recent, in the mountains of Baja (San Pedro Martir). In both cases the …
