[TABLE] [TR] [TD=width: 100%] Dirty Common Rail Injectors. There are many Cummins guys now days who have a concern about the particulates emitting out of the tailpipes of their Mighty Dodge Cummins Turbo Diesels. With all the scrutiny we all are under and emissions testing common throughout the USA. This is just a little discussion about common rail injectors and the myth that ALL larger aftermarket injectors are Dirty. While there are some CR injectors out there that ARE filthy dirty, not all fall into that category. Done correctly, a larger than stock injector can offer much better flow efficiently AND remain clean. On the real serious higher ou…

I recently installed a coolant filter, and based on what I thought, and was told, at the time I plumbed it the way I did. I have the "pressure" coming from the head, and the "return" going to the block. I also recently realized that the flow of coolant is from the block, thru the head, and back to the pump, or radiator... So I am wondering if my filter is filtering backwords? So can anyone help confirm or deny this? Is the pressure in the head or the block greater? Thanks

I don't know why, or if it will last, but Amazon has the Hellwig rear sway bar for 3rd gen's listed at $121, about 1/2 of what it normally sells for. As of this post there are 12 available. If you have ever considered one, then I would buy it!! This made a HUGE difference in my trucks handling empty and towing, and I should have done it sooner. I had no idea what a positive impact it would make. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001UFXT6Q/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00

Wondering if it isn't the EGR cooler. Started the truck up the other day, park brake on, hit the cruise, then set.. idled up to 1200, EB on, I let it warm about 5 mins (was 19F out). Came out to get in it, and saw a puddle of coolant toward the RR of the engine... chased it down, it appeared to be the fitting where the EGR cooler hose hooks to the vertical steel nipple out of the head (just forward of the heater port).. Drove down to Auto Zone for a jug of coolant, left it running, no high idle, no EB on.. came out, no drips. Topped off the overflow jug and monitored the truck the rest of the day for leaks; none found. The next morning, I did the…

i guys, I bought an 06 5.9 3500 stock, manual 6speed with 241000 miles in January (at the time - 257000 now) , so I'm still not as familiar with it as I am my '01. When backing off the throttle going downhill (usually) I sometimes get the wait to start light appearing and the ten dings... BUT not loss of power (no limp mode). It does not seem to affect anything. Sometimes it clears after shutting down, sometimes not. I have a ODBLX with Torque and ALFAODB (altho I have not yet paid for that app), and no codes other than P0633 Skim key code show up. I also have a UltraGauge and monitor fuel rail pressure (about 7000 at idle, and never more than 20,000 at speed - which …

once in a while my truck will idle rough, upon acceleration it stumbles/misses, and usually the engine will get stuck @ approx 1500 rpm and drive as though the cruise control is on. the rpms will maintain around 1500 up to a dead stop and accelerate once the brakes are released. the poor acceleration will maintain and if enough throttle is applied it will knock and ping accompanied by white smoke. the only way i can get rid of the stuck rpms is to put it in neutral I have considered injectors but once in neutral the engine revs and decels normal with no sputter, stumble, ping, or knockI have read about the APPS- but i dont think the 05's have themFCA- i think might be a p…

How To Display Engine Hours On The Odometer What Is Needed Ignition Keys Procedure This is an easy process to check the total hours on the engine. First off insert your ignition key and turn the key on but do not start. Quickly pressed and hold the trip button until the odometer display switches over to displaying hours. You'll know that the hours are being displayed. The odometer display shows the Hr prefix for the hour number displayed. Purpose If you happen to be using your truck in a manner that has extended idle times or possible PTO usage or using an 12-volt electric winch where the truck is idling for an extended period you can base y…
