Good morning everyone, Been gone from the forum for just over a year. Life got crazy busy (moved from NY to TN recently). Looking to get back into a Cummins powered truck. I know truck prices are high right now, but my 04 GMC 6.0 is a gas pig and has no power compared to my old 99 24v. Did some research online, but I'd figured I'd ask the best forum for advice on a 3rd gen. Which year is better?? Looking to get a 2003-07.5 5.9l. Looking forward to being apart of the diesel world again. Tim

Hello, I'll try to keep this short and to the point. I own a 04 Ram 2500, SBQC, 5.9L 24v, 4x4 Automatic with 250k+mi. on it , Sunday morning I went on a drive and noticed that the transmission was not shifting into over drive, all the other gears seem to work fine though. I checked the fluid level and it was at proper level it also looked clean as well. I had a friend hook up a scanner to it and check for any silent DTC's and got nothing. He then checked APPS readings because I changed it 2 weeks ago and he advised that I calibrated the new APPS within the required tolerances so it was not that. We then took the truck for a drive while he read the scanner and he said that…

So if all goes well, I will be selling my 04 QCSB Hemi tomorrow and I will be getting a 2004.5 2500 QCSB with 87k on the clock. I'm no mechanic but I know my way around a gasser but I have never owned a diesel before. I MAY have been spending a majority of my time at work researching diesels and reading on this forum and others to start learning. If you Cummins Gods could give me a quick crash course on daily diesel ownership that would be much appreciated. Things like not to let it idle to warm up, change fuel filters, dont shut her off when the turbo is spooled etc. Just little things that differ from a gasser.

Okay, so I have several questions about my 2004 QCLB2WD and what I am perceiving as a coolant leak. 1. About a year ago, I had a leak in my a/c condenser & it was repaired by a radiator & tank welding shop that's next door to my job. While it was there, they said the coolant was very low so they topped it off for me. They had caught me, as I rarely check the coolant level, but I was surprised to find the orange coolant in the reservoir tank. I was unaware that my 2004 Dodge would take that stuff (I thought GM was kinda the only folk with the orange coolant). Is this the right coolant? 2. Fast forward to about 1 month ago, and my truck develops a "whi…

Went out this morning and only had 2-3 psi. I drove it to the store and back, no problem. It was cold last night and I'm due for new fuel filters, maybe some waxing on the dirty filters. Maybe it's my Holly Black fuel pump, it's been in there for about 5 years now and it looks like it is weeping a little on the bottom. I have a rebuilt Holly Black under the back seat. Not sure what to do?

OK so I have not followed the performance end of the Cummins crowd for a couple of years and especially since selling my 02 last year I seem to have fallen off on new stuff. I saw a post by Mike yesterday with mention to Smartysource.com which I had never heard of. Went there and checked it out for a bit and did some reading on the BBI injectors they have developed and sell. Question is does anyone have any input on them? I see they want 4K for a set but do not show what or if there is a core included in that price, if no core I can't believe anyone would spend that kind of money on a set. I am looking at doing an injector swap on my 05 as it has never idled real smoot…

I came across this ad, and it seems high for pushing 200k miles. But, it also seems to have no rust. Thought I'd see what you all think. I have two sets of 3rd Gen wheels for my 2nd, so would swap to stock steel wheels. Weird there's no photos of interior. I may go check it out on Sunday if still available, try to get a better price. https://kansascity.craigslist.org/ctd/d/harrisonville-2007-dodge-ram-3500-trx4/7337248890.html

Well since I made the move to process to purchase the 2006 Dodge from the bank... New injectors +50 HP New Valair dual disc quiet towing clutch New Front unit bearings New crank sensor New Intake air sensor (crush it don't ask) New valve cover gasket (o-ring) It getting more and more reliable for driving back on forth to work. I'm looking to getting tires soon since the passenger side front is slow leaking and the rubber is getting weather checked after sitting for at least 3 years. I've got 275/70 R18 on it right now. I've got 3.73 gears I'm thinking of going up to a 285/70 R18 to bring the tach down a bit more. I…

I recently installed a Garrett Powermax Stage 2 turbo, which is a GT3782R. It’s a 62/64/.89 turbo. The comp wheel is a 61.4x82mm 6 blade wheel, and is normally found in the GT3582R turbo. The turbine wheel is a 72.5x64mm 10 blade wheel, and is normally found in a GT3788R. The center section is a GT37R water cooled ball-bearing unit. The exhaust housing is a .89 a/r divided and internally gated unit that has the HE351 4.4” outlet on it. This combo is designed specifically for the 3rd gen Cummins. The kit is a well designed and was quite easy to install. I spent about 5 hours doing the install which included a new (to-me) exhaust m…

Well I bought a 6.7 Turbo today, it should be here in a week or so. I got the turbo, manifold, and stock coolant lines. Now to save for the controller.. I will want to do studs first, so it will probably be some time before the VNT goes on, but it was a good deal.Fleece makes the controller and its pretty sweet. Its fully automatic, and include an exhaust brake function. You can custom tune the program to run the VNT like you want, and to limit max boost. Then there is a cab mounted dial for fine tuning the nozzle if you want, so on hwy trips you can open the vanes up to drop boost/DP and increase mileage, or towing heavy you can tighten the vanes a little for faster spoo…

I've been having the occasional hard start when warm shortly after shutdown. I brought the truck to the dealership under warranty about two months ago for this problem and after three days they claim "unable to duplicate" . Called chrysler to see what my other options are and they opened a case and said bring it to the other dealership and see what we can find out. Well after a whole day sitting there I finally get ahold of someone and the result was"unable to duplicate" . When I asked the service manager what test were run he seemed a little offended and said he can't run test unless they can "duplicate issue" . So as a concerned consumer on an expensive investment I ask…

Going through Genos latest Magazine I came across something I had never seen nor had I ever read of this issue before. Has anyone seen or heard of a t-case housing that cracked due to lack of support? https://www.genosgarage.com/product/adapt-a-case-transfer-case-support-bracket-tc48reac/transfer-case

- 2007 Dodge Ram 2500 5.9L CTD- Superchips Cortex 3950 - Innova Can ODB-II 3100e scanner Tuner was working fine before a trip to the dealership. I had a problem where my wait to start light was coming on at highway speeds. Also threw P1222. All of this happened after tuning truck with superchips cortex tuner. (I had the tuner left over from my previous gas truck, thought I'd see what it could do.) So I put the truck back to stock and took it to the dealer for repair. Dealer installed 6 new injectors. I still had the WTS light problem, but was able to use my code scanner to check DTCs. That's how I found the P1222. Hooked up a friends fancy Matco scanner and it was unab…

Just throwing out a few pics of the additional filtering capacity I have added to my 05. I have an Amsoil remote oil bypass kit with a home made mount and location I came up with originally on my 02 and integrated it to my 05. behind that you can see the Fuel filter kit I installed from Vulcan performance with a 3 micron Donaldson filter between the OEM filter and the CP3.

I already posted this question in an old "Frantz" thread so I thought I would give this a shot. I am trying to get my game plan together for installing my Frantz oil bypass kit and I was wondering if I could use a heat gun to soften the hose up so I can slide it onto the fittings. I know the big guy (Mopar1973Man) told me to boil them in water for a few minutes but I was curious to know if the heat gun would work? Thanks for any advice
