I have seen on this site a couple of times where 17# is the ideal fuel pressure. My pump provides 12-13#. Why is 17# better?

i need to install a fuel pressure gauge when my truck s running again. I have seen alot of them on the internet with price varying alot. which is the best to have, mechanical or electric? or is there any differance in the performance of either? I do like the one that mopar has with the green range on it but can't seem to find that gauge anywhere. I can hook up either i just want to do it once and not twice. any help is appreciated.

So my F Pump on my 02 is in the tank, someone must have changed it. I would say the dealer but I installed a FP gauge and found that I only had about 7lbs at idle. I decided this was not enough so ordered a new pump. I actually ordered one for the block because I did not know the in tank one had replaced the original as I have only had the truck a month or so. I hooked it up on Saturday and found the new one on tne block would not suck fuel through the tank pump and the tank pump would barely push fuel through the other one. So I decided to hook them both up. Now I have 25-30 lbs at idle and WOT is at least 20lbs. I am thinking that this may be too much so I called Cummin…

The 2kreeks hauler has been missing at hiway speeds 'cruise 50/65 mph' every other speed is ok. If truck is acelerating no problem, pulling hard 10k up everything nornmal. The lift pump was replaced approx 3500 miles with a generic AIRTEX BRAND. This was replaced during a oil change when I found out the new carter was starting to fail. Now with new instruments the fuel pressure at idle is 21.5lbs and wot is 16lbs. My basic idle time is approx 5mins and some time more depending on how long of pull and how heavy..Does this high of fuel pressure hurt the vp44?Could this high of fuel pressure cause the missing?Only codes showing with key trip, is 1693 which was left…

  6. Specifications Here is a copy of the fuel system specifications from the Dodge Factory Service Manual. Fuel pressure Normal fuel pressure should float about 14-15 PSI running down the pavement. Should never fail below 10 PSI at all. Here is a colorized fuel pressure gauge to give you a clue of the fuel pressure span you want. You want the needle to stay in the green at all times. Yellow zone is a warning that you should check the fuel filter, lift pump performance, overflow valve, etc. This is undocumented maximum pressure is 20 PSI. Now take notice to the overflow valve is set for 14 PSI so excessive pumping of fuel does nothing for performance except …

  7. New fuel pressure problems...I used to have problems with sudden pressure drops, so Installed a Raptor 100 Lift pump. It's worked quite well up until my last 300 mile trip. Now my fuel pressure spikes (up to 30 psi) on long low throttle cruising, and at idle. The electronic fuel pressure sender (Glow Shift) is isolated from the VP inlet by a 16" grease gun hose. Would this seem like enough of a "Snubber", or should I get a needle valve? A buddy of mine has a mechanical fuel pressure gauge. We'll hook it up in a few days and compare readings. I just wondered if anyone else has ever had problems with a Raptor 100 spiking. Idle fuel pressure is set at 15-17 psi.

Like title says, I have about 4-5 psi at idle and 0 at WOT. I used a gauge that I connected at the VP44. Does this mean new lift pump? Injection pump?

  9. Hi, I am looking for a flashing LED or similar alarm kit to install by my fuel pressure gauge to alert me that the feed pressure at the VP44 inlet is at or below 10 psi. I want this set point because that is what Cummins specify is the minimum required and everything I have read indicates that below that pressure I am damaging the VP44. So far all the alarms I have found listed for my truck activate at 5 psi or less, I emailed three suppliers, two haven't replied and the one who did admitted that although his alarm kit is listed for my truck the 5 psi setting is too low to be any real use to protect the VP44. Thanks.

Well guys and gals I've been incredibly busy recently. Well here is the short story. I recently replaced my pressure side fuel line from the Airdog to the VP44 all is well and no issues with that project. So the pressure starts to fall off only on wide open throttle and is getting worse over time. Any time I go wide open the lift pressure falls from 16 PSI to 13 PSI I've even seen it as low as 12 PSI. This has been going on since early this month. I have replaced fuel and water separator filters twice and it makes no difference. Also it seems the electrical is having issues. I have rebuilt a section of the harness that attaches the relay into the circuit. All points th…

I'm wanting to hook up my fuel pressure gauge....finally. I have a FASS installed, with the supply line going directly to the VP, so the factory fuel filter can is gone. I do have a T-fitting I could use by cutting the hose (don't really want to do that), but I had hoped I could use fittings of some sort to plumb into one of the fittings on the injection pump......is that possible? And if so, does anyone know which fittings I'd need?

3 Questions: 1. I looked at the Pricol Optix 2" Fuel Pressure Gauge (Elec) 0.30 PSI (BLK) on Geno's Website. Is this what I need to safely monitor my fuel pressure? 2. Is there a less expensive gauge that would serve the purpose? 3. I have a test gauge that came with the installation of my Banks P/P. Where do I find the fitting to connect it to check my pressure? ThanksOld Fart Non-MotorHead

Just finished fitting a Isspro mechanical fuel pressure gauge, this took 1 1/2hrs, removed the factory ash tray and the two top small bolts/screws behind were the same width apart as a cheap gauge mount I had so easy mounting and away from the pillar which I want to keep free for 3 other gauges I also slipped some Cat fuel line hose over the small plastic line for added protection in the engine bay and under the dash all the way from gauge to FP, still got to Zip Tie it all up but had to run it to check for leaks. FP sits at 15 to 16psi at idle, I haven't driven it yet as it's behind my work van, to swap them around my work van has to go onto the road for a minute …

Hey everyone. I have a glowshift fuel pressure gauge on my 99 and it fluctuates a little intermittently. I run a FASS 150 and I also replaced the stock filter housing with a 2 micron spin on filter and located my sending unit in the output port of the housing. Fuel pressure never drops below 15 at wot and never above 18. It seems to only fluctuate at idle. Also I removed the banjo line and replaced with 1/2 hose straight into the vp44. What can I do to stop the fluctuations and should I move the sender closer to the injection pump?

I have an old fuel pressure gauge, and now replacing it. The existing line connects in the fuel canister with nylon tubing. What is the best way and location to connect new electric gauge sending unit? I was going to try the old location, but not sure if that is the proper location. Read several posts that say on the supply banjo bolt of the VP, and some say as far away from it as possible.I have 98.5 24v, new reman VP, AirDog Raptor 100 LP, and stock fuel lines from canister to VP, 1/2" from tank to canister.Any help will be appreciated, and images would as wellThanks

I read that you can use the inner most 1/8" port on the top of the fuel filter canister as a tap for your mechanical FP gauge. This is the plug closest to the center nut on top. Anyone have any info on this?
