Finally got the head home and head gasket. The only thing I forgot was my lube for the ARP 425 studs. Then last night had a chat with another forum member that showed me a much better nut for ARP studs. Much bigger flange on the nut and thicker body. Last night I got another friend Andrew to help me place the head back on the block. As soon as the ARP thread lube gets here I can start stuffing studs in. Truck has been sitting for long time and need to get it running again.

Haven't posted before. Just realized I've been wasting a great resource. Hope I can contribute somehow from now on. I have a 2002 dodge 2500 cummins HO 6 speed 4x4 ref cab long bed, factory leveling kit stock truck, 290k plus miles, no mods. Throwing codes 0500-1693 I live in southern Oklahoma and making a run to the east coast with a trailer. Fixing to leave and Speedo and cruise go out, lift pump quits, never had heat but figure I'll be needing it. So I'm trying to get them all fixed before I go. Heater is probably blocked as both lines are warm going in. fixed some leaks in the air line so doors finally working. Had a lifetime warranty on an autozone lif…

Ok... My truck went to down after a hard run here locally. Trying to turn around on the highway and out run a semi-truck. Finally blown the head gasket. Not bad but it weeping oil out the front. Still starts and runs. Yes I know most like the smallish turbo (drive pressure) is my problem and need to upgrade. Right now with all that is going on my 2002 is going to remain down for some time and let me fix it right. I know I got to pull the head and get it inspected for sure then reinstall. I'll leave wire tap off till later when upgrade turbo can be had. Already had a nice chat with @dieselautopowerabout it. Like I'm just about got the 2006 Dodge u…

I got to say Thank You to @dripley ... He's taught me something today which I've got to pass along to all you. The 2002 Dodge Ram truck have only a 1 wire oil pressure sensor. The wiring diagram is incorrect for the 2002 trucks and does NOT have the Orange or the Black/Light Blue wires. Now looking at the 2001 and 2000 model years are 3 wire oil pressure sensors. I've even gone down to my truck and checked and sure enough only one wire the black/light grey.

First off thanks for the add. Looking at buying a 2002 Dodge. Guy said everything is great but one problem. The owner now said you can cruise pulling a trailer at 70 all day but Rpms are to high at 80-90. I found the Guy who built the truck and said you could run 120 no problem before. Any guesses on what may be causing this? Truck is mildly built with a fully built trans. Below is exactly how the owner now worded it I it won't run 80-90 on the highway but I pull the camper 70 all day. It runs too high of rpms in the short. U can hear it hit overdrive but only drops 250 rpms. It doesn't burn fuel I get about 18- 19 pulling. Witn this being sai…

Hey guys, I bought a comp, and the previous user had it set up for his 01 with the 01 connectors on it. I guess this is the early version of the comp box because the new ones come with adapters for the 02 that use the 01 connectors, while the early ones did not. The 02 connectors were loose in the box. I cut the 01 connectors off and now need to attach the 02 connectors, but I'm having a problem. On top is the 01 connector, and on bottom is the 02 connector. As you can see, the 01 connector has 3 wires going to it from the lead, a green white and black (Or brown?) and the 02 connector only has 2 bare leads going to it. Anyone have any idea how the 02 conn…

Hello, I am new to this forum. I spoke to Mopar1973Man on the telephone, Thanks to him for sharing his wealth of knowledge. Here is the info I provided to the service facility: "Vehicle information: 2002 Dodge Ram 2500, 5.9 Cummins HO, 6 speed manual, 4x4. Modifications: Injectors-Formula 1 Mach 2 105hp, Smarty S-03 programmer, FASS. Symptoms: For the past 2 months, truck has had issues starting ranging from a hard start to stalling nearly a minute after being started. This all seems to take place when the temperature is below the operating temperature of 190. If I make several stops before the truck is at running temp, it usually has trou…

Recently purchased a 2002 ho truck and got a good deal because the motor isn’t happy ( knocking and crazy blow by). To solve this problem I’ve purchased a 2000 model engine. Forgive me I am learning these 24s I’m used to 12 valves. I know now that there’s the two sub generations 98.5-00 and 01-02 and they don’t interchange very well. My main question is am I going to run into problems with the swap even with swapping the pcm/ecm/ engine harness ? Got a steal of the 2000 engine everything for 800$ so I really want to make this work .

Hi guys, my 2002 5.9 24 valve has some issues and I want to verify I am doing the correct things before proceeding. It runs poorly and surges, the temp gauge is going near full almost immediately, and the check engine light is on. There are several high voltage codes including (P0563 charging system, P1475 Aux 5 volt output, P1286 APPS supply voltage, P0113 Intake air temp sensor, P0118 ECT voltage, P0238 MAP sensor) all stating voltage too high. Now I also have the P0606 ECM/PCM Processor code. I did an alternator A/C noise test and it failed (otherwise the charging system seems normal). I am able to scan codes but can not communicate to get any data whatsoever. My plan …

I bought a 2002 cummins recently. There is a wiring harness that runs under the fan shroud. The fan shroud is broken and the wiring harness got cut in half by the fan. I am trying to splice the wires back together but there are about 5 wires that have an exact duplicate color so I am not sure how to differentiate them to get them spliced correctly. Can anyone help me with any info on splicing them back together?

I have been restoring a flood truck since last December, the water line was a couple inches into the cab. The vehicle runs and drives, I have since gotten a salvage restored title and it is my daily driver. Through all the many fixes on my vehicle I have had some creeping intermittent boost drop/dead pedal/bucking surging mostly when moving from lower speeds. When I am heavy on the accelerator it seems to be much less apparent. I have put at least 200 hours into the truck this year and have had many components taken out and reattached so anything is fair game when it comes to explaining the issues I am dealing with. The main question I ha…

Does anyone know a good place to get backing plates. I got a 2002 D80 single rear wheel, disc brakes. Both plates are rusted out and ready to fall off. Also would a newer baking plates from 2003 up fit 2002? If bolt pattern same then I could upgrade to bigger breaks in rear. Rotors, pads/shoes, caliper mounts. I did it to my front works great, just not sure if newer backing plates fit on older axels. If I could get original plates cheap then I would stick with the breaks I got.

Hey fellas, I'm just wondering if this is normal or if I have a sticky injector or something. It only smokes on cold starts when it is not plugged in. It goes away after a couple minutes once it warms up a it. When it's plugged in it just does its normal puff of black then no smoke and it does the same when it's a hot start or when it's above zero outside. I've also noticed that the fuel line on number 6 where it goes into the head looks damp with fuel. The fitting is tight which leads me to believe the connector tube o-ring is going/gone and if that could be the cause of the smoke. The smoke does not smell like oil, more like burn your eyes rich fuel. …
