My 1999 dodge diesel has been running fine except for rpms going up and down at 45 mph. Below that its fine and above that its fine. Thats just background info though. The truck just died. It cranks but wont start. I replaced the lift pump a while back as well as the throttle position sensor. Truck ran for a few months after that. I dont have a code reader and toggling the key does not generate any codes. Not sure where to turn to next. Any ideas? BTW the truck has 175k miles on it.

I have a 02 2500 4x4 auto with edge drag box, about 2 month ago or so ( I dont drive my truck much in the summer ) it threw a p0236 and p0237 I reset the codes and waited to see if they woudl come back but they didn't the odd thing is that the truck still acts the same at about 37mph and up till 43mph I get very very bad hesitation if I am not on the skinny pedal hard it almost feels like it wont shift into OD but its not really a trans problem ( thats what I think ) the edge off or unplugged same issue happens should I just buy a boost pressure sensor and change it or can it be cleaned re installed ? if thats the problem at all and I have p1693 code when cycling the key …

Probably not very intersting, but maybe it could help someone out. Hell I like cummins engines, I would probably kill some time looking at pictures of a guy tearing one apart, figure somebody else might. Reason for pulling it... NVG 5600 tranny went out the other day, so I decided to just go ahead and pull and freshen this motor up, dry compression is pretty high so I will probably not be doing anything as far as honing or new rings. Might, might not. Haven't decided yet. I WILL be replacing the rod and main bearings, all gaskets including front and rear main and head, and will be cleaning and painting it up with cummins apex red engine paint, part number #3885910 just fo…

Pulling my motor, need to unhook the condensor so that I can come straight forward with my motor, minus the oil pan. Can't lay the condensor to the side because the bottom line is hard all the way past the air filter box, can't bend that stuff... So it needs to come off and to get it off I need to evacuate the r134 charge without freezing my skin, frostbite, maming myself, and etc... Any good methods?

ok guys heres the deal a friend of mine tried hooking his smarty up to my 1998.5 it wouldnt let him, the smarty kept telling him to turn the truck on and then back off again in a row about 5 or 6 times. heres the second part of the puzzle after my friend talked with Bob Wagner from smarty he suggested a short in my wiring so i pluged in my very simple OBDII scanner into the truck it pulled up a P1683 code. this is/was the only code that my scanner found. so now to my question has anyone ever ran into/seen this issue before and what is a P1683 code? thanks for any and all help

I have searched and found nothing on the Hy35 turbo. I had my truck at a friends shop last week for an alignment, while test driving I asked him to run with the scanner on, he first ran with the edge comp on and then with it off. the boost pressure at idle was reading 10-11 psi in both scenarios then went up to 28-29 psi in both scenarios. I was wondering if this is normal or if there is any way to test the actuator on these turbos. the line b/t the housing and the actuator is steel, not rubber. I have had the rod b/t the actuator and the wastegate off and the wastegate moved freely. Thanks in advance, Luke

so, I made it back up to Alaska (3276 miles in 3 days, not bad eh?) I didn't put more than 80 some miles on the truck after we got back to our home town, and the pump goes out, at least I'm pretty sure its the injection pump. I opened the fuel/water separator and turned on the key, the lift pump was pushing plenty of fuel out of the line, I cracked one of the nuts on the high pressure lines by the valve cover, I didn't get more than a couple of bubbles of fuel out of the line. I haven’t had a chance to pull it apart and inspect anything (its still in the parking lot at my work, it broke down about a mile from work on my first day back) so I'm not sure what’s going on exac…

Coming home from the gym last night, no trailer, no nothing, and btw I am completely stock so like 200 hp at the flywheel or less, and I heard the strangest sound a transmission could make when I was about to crest a hill, sounded like cats having a brawl in an alley or something, then it went clang, clatter, crunch and crash, now I have no forward or reverse gears and coasted to the shoulder... Mainshaft is broke I think, we pulled the drive shaft and yoke out of the back of the tranny, btw the seal is now definitely wallered out, and the output shaft will move up and down, side to side about 2 inches and can be pushed in about half an inch and out the same. Something ai…

I have been involved in electronics as a hobby for over 50 years.I am a Amateur Extra Class Ham Radio Operator. Now that said.I have learned one thing. Heat is the enemy of electronics. No way around it. Especially solid state stuff.I wasn't aware of how much electronics are in the vp44, and I don't know how much are in other injector pumps.Today I drove on a trip that was 35 miles one way, and came back. Ok no big trip. I drove at 52 mph, and tested fuel milage, and fuel pressure to my pump. Milage turned out to be about 25 mpg, and fuel pressure was around 12 psi. for the trip. When I came home I made a routine inspection under the hood, and I reached down and touched th…

I am wondering what ecm number I will need to get since I have convered my 99 from an auto to manual transmission? I know that it will have to be out of a 99, but I am not sure how many different ones there are for the 99? Also since I will have to get the PCM could I get both from another year? Thanks for any help, Jon.

This truck has been at a garage for 4 months, its been torn apart, scattered and ignored, you get the idea. The garage said they couldn't get the codes and they didnt know what was wrong with it, I finally got it home and kinda got it togeather. When I took it to the carage it would idle, but not much more, now it wont even start...... Last night I finally got the codes off my truck, there are 12 of them as follows: P0121- tps voltage does not agree with map P0122- throttle pos sens volt low P0243- turbo boost limit exceeded P0236- map sensor too high too long P0351- fuel inj pump fuel valve feedback circ P0252- fuel inj pump fuel valve stuck P0253- fuel inj pump fuel v…

Injection Pump Failure. Time to do some work to my truck. I'm just posting up to ask for recomendations in Fuel Pressure Gauges, and Aftermarket Lift Pump improvements. I'm hoping to make the repair in my home garage, so the easier to install options would be a plus. I see many writeups on the job, but any tips would also be welcomed. At this time I am leaning towards an airdog 100 lift pump. Thanks in advance for any information. Dave
