    Hey all, I have been fighting a random bucking problem in my truck for about a year now. It will buck in any gear and at any throttle, even at just idle. It acts like the motor just shuts down and then insantly starts back up. I have done an APPS reset several times and it always seems to fix the problem for a week or two, and then it comes back just like before. Some days it won't even do it, and then sometimes it will be almost impossible to drive for a few minutes. No codes, and I have 13 psi FP all the time and the VP is only like 2 years old. From what I have read, this is not typical APPS failure behavior, but the reset always seems to help??? Any ideas...I …

  2. Got around to changing the oil and doing some services and maintenance on the wife's truck yesterday. It still has the OEM oil pan drain plug in it. I was going to replace the drain plug last time with a magnetic drain plug I bought from some scam artist on eBay but the plug didn't even come close to fitting.     Hey everyone,My truck has developed a transmission line leak. It is from the fitting on the drivers side transmission line. (Looking up at it) I will try to post a pic. Anyways, I've read that those fittings suck, and was wondering if I can just replace it with regular transmission line and a hose clamp? Is there an o ring in these fittings that let go or are they just notorious for leaking. Any help would be great thanks.

  4. I broke my stock airbox top by stepping on it while it was on the garage floor. I shattered the slots that make a hinge with the bottom section. Does anyone have the top half of a stock 24V (2001) airbox that I could have? I'm currently running a BHAF and I'd be willing to trade even for the airbox, however I would have to wait until I got the airbox before pulling the BHAF off. It probably has 10K miles on it or so, and it looks nearly new. Anyway, I live north of Atlanta, zip 30114. Can anyone help a brother out?   5. my truck will not start sometimes,just crank over. i have fuel pressure, 5 minutes later it starts fine.i thout it was the vtss but since i am sure its not.now it shuts off going down the road.after reading mopar mans threads and talking to him im thinking the ecm. i did the key trick and i got the pdone only once, so i dont think the ecm is communicating with the pcm/community network.thanks mopar man for the help yesterday! does anyone have any suggestions because im good at the mechanical aspects but know just enough with the electrical system to get lost.thanks for your help!:banghead:

    Ok... Here you go ISX... My thoughts on dynamic timing is looking at something really simple. Like lets say you take your P-pump and set oh let say 16* BTDC and now the rest of the summer its great. bUt now you desided to come to Idaho this winter to visit me and the weather was -20*F. Chances are your truck will have a tough time starting because of the initial timing is too advanced. But why is that a 24V starts easy? Well I think it comes back to the IAT sensor and the ECM making a initial dynamic change at start up time to allow for starting then as the IAT starts to warm up with the ECT then the timing is re-adjusted to suit the conditions.     Guys I got a problem with the truck that I sold to my brother, a while back about three months ago I change the clutch on it and also replaced the master and slave cyilinder. It was my first clutch job so you guys helped alot thanks to this site , but my brother just called me and he is having problems with the truck . He seems to not been able to shift gears ,he said that the only way the truck can move is if the truck is turned off and he puts it on second gear ,but then the truck will not shift to any other gear .     Well I have done everything I think possiable, it has come down to bitting the bullet and buy a vp from Blue Chip Diesel. The people I have been dealing with rebuild junk. I have learned a lot about the famous vp junk in a bucket. More is being revealed day by day as our trucks get age on them. He is going to give me a fair deal I think, he says if the pump does not fix my problem just box it back up and send it back for full refund.Here is some hind site for ya, if you lose two pumps and they are not in warranty your expense just cost you what it would if you had ppumped it to start with. This morning as he went to leave for work, all of the sudden the truck would not start. :banghead: His Air Dog fuel pump was not kicking on either. Ok - so had tranny TC + VB replaced.Just had the evap/heater core replaced.Picked up the truck and I hear a funny sound - hard to describe - like a very low/dull whir/thud that "appears" to match engine rpm - making me think drivelineInitial thought was TC bolts - so I looked at them and they seemed tight with no play.If I had to say as a "guess" it sounds more like its coming from the block itself. Hard to say.     HELLO EVERYONE, I HAVE A 2001 2500 4x4 SLT WITH A CUMMINS ANYWAY IT STARTED ABOUT 6mnts AGO WHEN THE FACTORY WIRE TIES HOLDING THE HARNESS BROKE.     I am considering buying a complete 1998 12v drivetrain consisting of: [*]Engine w 100k [*] Auto trans w 12k on Jasper rebuild (w/ upgrades, but not sure what they are) [*] X-fer case w/ 100k [*] 3:55 axles with 100k [*] Front drive shaft Been sitting indoors since 2003. However, I can buy the whole deal for $2500...maybe less. I would then swap the 12v and Jasper trans into my '98 QCSB and sell my 24v (w/ 177k), good auto trans and 100k axles after the swap.   15. See attached file. I'm trying to figure out the path of the fuel flow within the VP44 injection pump (IP). I'm interested in the slight possibility of additional cooling for the IP. Does anyone have any other pics or drawings or diagrams they can upload? I've done a bit of research on forums and I've talked to BlueChip at lengths. The VP44's computer sits on top of a heatsink or is integral to it, this is bolted to the IP housing, and the diesel fuel passing under the heatsink cools the computer.     I have been looking at my boost gauge (adrenaline pulse monitor) and I haven't seen go pass 15 to 16 psi and thats steping on it on the hwy , its usually always around 5 to 8 . Sorry for asking this dumb questions but just trying to understand boost better Is this normal boost what I have? I am also asking this because on most of the tread I read that have to do with boost every body talks about getting 25 psi or 30ish psi reading , Is there some thing I need to check ? what is a boost elbow do I need one?   18. I finally am going to do the ball joints on my 2000. I have found a couple of write ups on later model trucks on CF and the like. Does anyone know any tricks or tips for my model year. I talked to a friend who did them on a 94 CTD 2500 4x4 and he said he had to engage the 4x4 before pulling the passenger side axle to prevent the linkage from falling apart???? Any way I am going to start with it tomorrow morning. ThanksChris

    Was hoping to get some insite here. My truck wanders all over as If I was truck. It is amazing I havent been pulled over yet. It makes you tired driving on a trip as you are constantly trying to compensate to keep the truck going straight. Its not like a steering wheel play problem but it acts in a similar way. Today I put the new Borgeson steering box on, no help. I have run the tires at 35, 50 and 60, no better.I have new moog ball joints, and track bar, new tires, alignment. My truck has 60,000 miles. It is a 2001 2500 SLT 4 x 4. It does have the big ARB bumper and large winch. Also, it has new front shocks. Any ideas? Mark

    So 2 days after a long road trip I noticed a new noise that sounds like its coming out of the exhaust. Between about 1100-1200rpm I get a loud tick/tat that I can clearly hear over my exhaust. It happens in all gears and only really makes the noise when I'm on the throttle, can't hear anything at idle. My only thought is my exhaust valves are out of adjustment going to adjust then tomorrow to see if it fixes it, but not sure:shrug: Any thoughts please let me know.
