Hot summer day and the wife take the truck to the store, Her car was in my shop getting a hvac fan motor. She calls me up an hour later, "the truck wouldn't start". I drive over with the shops work van and put the scan tool on. Code p0230 transfer pump circuit out of range, running a Fuel Boss pump with back up electric pump so no big deal. I clear the code and try to start. The engine turns over not real fast and no start. O'k wife is hot could care less about doing diagnostics and wants to go home. I have it towed to the shop and put the wife back in her Volvo. An hour later I turn the key and it starts up with the check engine light on. It's the dreaded p1689 NO C…

Code p1694 won't go away after I got a new torque converter put in. Lack of power still and have checked all the connection on PCM/ECM grounds ext. could this be a issue between the governor solenoid and the PCM? Running out of ideas.

I have searched some but maybe don't how to do it properly since I couldn't get answers I am looking for. Forgive me if I'm just not smart enough to get them. Anyway, I recently had codes 1693, 0500, 1694, 1698 pop up. I had not yet done the WT mod even though I have been trying to get it done for quite some time. Life gets in the way with some travel and serious AO health issues. Some of that relates to not having much strength or energy. The tach would drop out and come back for awhile and then drop again. Cleared codes and 1694 and 1698 came back. Cleared again and 1698 was back. Did the WT mods and put a fuse in the blue wire to PCM. I had checked AC v…

I'm j-hooked with a turnbuckle. 4" turbo back and torque dog. Towing 6500# with the dog set in the stock position. Any help would be appriciated greatly since I'm out of town working. --- Update to the previous post... I forgot to add. Never got a cel and it seems to be running ok now. The Diesel shop got to my truck. They'll be back on my truck today... so I need advise ASAP!! You'll recall the dealership told me "No Codes", "Zero Fuel Pressure", "You need a lift pump" ($600 to replace OEM, $1200 to retrofit in tank)... charged me $88 for diagnositic. The diesel shop pulled codes P1689, P0230, P0232, P1693. Apparently there is a test sequence which can test the lift pump.. it ran. AAARRRGGGHHH!!! P0230 - Transfer Pump (Lift Pump) Circuit Out of Range Problem detected in fuel transfer pump circuits. P0232 - Fuel Shutoff Signal Voltage Too High Fuel shut-off signal voltage too high from ECM to fuel injection pump. …

I recently bought a new to me 1999 2500. Low miles, 124k. My issue I'm having is I have codes p1964, no ccd bus and the companion code. I have no wait to start or an intermittent wait to start. What I have found weird is if I unhook my grounds for 5-10 mins then reconnect them the wait to start is immediate for 3-4 key cycles, then goes back to intermittent or not at all. I found this out when I put on new military cable ends, the grounds wouldn't stay tight. Pickup runs fine, doesn't want to start when it's super cold, which makes sense with no wait to start but when it's warm it pops right off and runs great. Also another side note I have had it…

I tried unplugging my Boost sensor (map sensor) after reading it would make for some good smoke. I was going to do a smoke switch but figured I would try that to see if it did anything before putting in the switch and having not work. I figured if I set a code I would just clean it out with my Hypertech Hyperpac. Truck ran bad and set a code. I scanned and found 2 codes. The first was low/no boost signal (duh!) and 1693. I found that one means it set a code in both PCM and ECM. I cleared the first code but the 1693 keeps showing up. So now I found out my programmer doesn't clear the PCM. I key on/key off and find codes 0500 and 1694, I don't know how long those codes have…

I've had my truck just about a year now and I've only seen it up to operating temp twice, normally it runs 160 to 165. During the winter months I made a cold weather front from a sheet of aluminum that blocked 95% of the radiator and it still only ran 160. Back in May I towed maybe 4500 pounds 750 miles or so round trip average speed was 70 to 75mph and it still only ran 160. About 3 weeks ago I pulled the radiator and power washed all the oil and dirt out of it and installed a new 190 thermostat. I noticed it ran slightly warmer about 170 but its been back around 160 ever since. In less than a week I'm taking a trip out west of the Rockies and would like to see it run …

Maybe a silly question but I'm curious if anyone can explain to me why my 98 24v is much quieter at cold startup than when its warm? Theres barely any fuel knock at all and its really smooth sounding. Once it warms up and during the warmer months it just sounds like most other 24v. I run 2 stroke oil in my fuel. It would be great if I could figure out how to make it sound so smooth all the time.
