Is there a wiring extension that can be bought that will allow me to install my code reader plug to my dash for easy access?

I finally isolated oil leak , seal between vacum pump and power steering pump is leaking, ordered parts. Has anybody done this without removing vacum pump, just removing steering pump? Just curious if it is possible. I don't have a problem taking both off, just wondering if it is necessary. Thanks

I have only pulled real heavy a couple of times with this truck and both times my engine temperature gets pretty hot when pulling steep grades for a long period of time. During these grades I try to keep my EGTs around 1100-1200* but my engine temp spikes--getting real close to the 240* mark on the guage. As soon as I get over the hill and am able to maintain my EGTs at a much cooler temp the engine cools down as well. I flushed my radiator aboout 7,000 miles ago and it runs around 190* normally, and no leaks. Is this normal or should I be looking at blocked air flow through the radiator?

Not sure if this in in the right catagory. I stopped for fuel this morning and noticed this new fuel was available along with the regular diesel. I am not a fan of additives I don't know about. I googled it and there is a lot of info but its over my head. Anyone know what this is about and should I consider using it or just stay with the regular fuel. Of course water and dirt are always a concern for anyone with a diesel. Regards Chris

Some might remember me freaking out about my radiator rusting up so fast. Well I can tell you this, don't ever use radiator flush even if it says its ok for aluminum. It might ok for aluminum but it dang sure not good for the rubber seal around the tanks. New radiator 191.00

In the middle of replacing injection pump when I notice the condition of the tappet cover gasket. It's severely cracked, but not leaking (yet). I'm going to replace it as long as I'm this far in it already, along with the camshaft position sensor - it looks like a bear to access when the injection pump is in place. My question is about the insulation panel situated between the tappet cover and the ECM. It looks terrible, and I'm inclined to just leave it off as I don't care about the noise put off by the engine, and some even suggest it holds water and promotes rusting of the tappet cover. My only concern is it may shield some heat from the ECM, even though it's on th…

Over the last few months my trucks has randomly had a long crank to start issue. Only has happen maybe 4 times. It usually takes less then a second and shes running. But when this long crank happens it usually takes between 3 and 4 seconds to start. This always happens after the tuck has been sitting for at least over night. Also the last few days I have noticed a light gray colored smoke coming from my stacks when I step on it. My truck is completely stock as far as turbo injectors or chips go and I have never before made smoke (which is how I want it ti stay haha) But the last few days it seems to smoke more. Are these two issues related? What should I be lookin…

Hi folks... A mechanic not far from me has his own Chrysler DRB3 scanner that works according to him. Its for sale very cheap. Is this of any use to me with it being hooked into Chyslers own computer. Might not be a bad thing to have once in a while. Regards Chris

Is it really necessary to replace the heavy duty battery cables on our Cummins or would the regular size gas powered truck battery cables work the same as they are also twelve volt ? I ask because on my 1990 Cummins I replaced the ground cable with a gas powered cable and everything worked fine. Just a thought.

Having a noise becoming apparent only when in drive and putting my foot down.. Sounds from drivers side but could be playing tricks on me. I know the difference between the turbos whistle and this is defiantly a new one. I can't pin point. Any ideas guys? Not sure if its something gone bad.. Just know I gotta get this solved. Added a video: or at least ill try.. sorry, best audio I could come up with. This is with the AC off and radio off.trim.EdAwki.MOV

I installed an adjustable boost elbow today preset at 30psi. Before the elbow with the Comp on 5x5 I was seeing a moderate amount of smoke at wot. After the elbow installation it's rollin' some serious coal now at wot. Am I mistaken thinking that there should be less smoke with the elbow than without? Truck runs awesome just curious about the smoke I think I choked a poor guy on a bicycle today when I passed him.

  13. Hi everybody, my first question on Mopar1973Man. I have a stock 2001 Dodge 24v . In Jan.2012 had a lift pump failure & cooked VP44. Replaced with rebuilt VP44,and a Air Dog 150. About a month ago started to have a problem with hot starts, would start and stall. I only had the idiot light for the fuel pressure warning, never came on. Problem continued to get worse. Bought a real fuel pressure gauge and discovered I had 13lbs. at idle and would drop below 10 lbs. any thing above idle, replaced filters, both were only a month old, no change. So I put the 17lb spring into the Air Dog that came with the pump. Now I get 15lb at idle , and the pressure drops to 13lb anyt…

My serp belt tensioner has rust coming out of it and is throwing rusty residue onto the reservoir bottle and water pump. It looks to be rusty water. No, my radiator fluid is not rusty. Is this a replacement situation or can I remove it and lube? Doesn't appear to be coming from the idler bearing, but rather the tension part.

Driving down the road and the Tach drops to zero, truck bucks like no fuel then maybe does it again then runs fine and always starts on first hit. Fp idle 22, wot 18, oil pressure cold 95+ warm 180* 75* . Worries me that possibly leave me stranded somewhere. Any Ideas? 1998.5 Dodge / Cummins, 4x4, 5 speed, 202k miles, stock from factory except for Donaldson Filters and Fass DDRP lift pump and new inner cooler hoses, Batteries and Alt. two years old.

What would be the next step up for a turbo with out spending a bunch of crazy money on one? I have the HX35, which I believe its the stock turbo. Would like something that maybe spools a little faster also. I have RV 275s and an Edge EZ. Going up a grade and getting into the throttle I can see 1100 on my EGTs, and that's with nothing behind it. I have a 1800 lb trailer that I occasionally pull and it got to 1150, and held there for a second or two but that's it. I figured it was time for a little better turbo with the upgrades, especially if ever pull anything heavier. I'm not looking for a powerhouse turbo, just a little cooler EGTs. My EGT Probe is installed Pre…

It did it about 6 months ago and I just shrugged it off. Yesterday it jumped out twice, It has new oil in it. When I bought the truck it just had fifth gear fixed to keep it from falling off. I am thinking they welded it on because sometimes you shift and its smooth and other times its mushy and does not feel like its all the way in. What I do is go to neutral and back to fifth and it feels right then. Can this be a easy fix or just can it and get another trans, it has 294k on it. If can it who would you recommend ?

Just wanting to get some ideas on how hot to run the truck towing up hill. I pull about 8K and when I start climbing the EGT goes up past 1100 and I get worried. So I find that if I back off the throttle just ever so slightly I don’t lose that much speed, but I can keep the EGT from climbing above that. If it starts to go higher, I grab a gear and try to keep it at 1100, and always below 1200 or below. My buddy with his new Dodge just puts the throttle to the floor, rolls a bunch of coal, and blasts over the hill. He gives me a bunch of crap for being so slow, which I am really not. I tow at 2100 RPM’s which is about 73 MPH, and hardly ever drop below 60 going up a lo…

Ok so am trying to make up my mind on this, I had a quadzilla with adrenaline and had a tap on the top cover but now this new edge cts that I installed came with a tap for a wire tap so just followed the instructions and made the tap on the wire but now am not so sure if that's the best place I called the customer service to ask how could I double check if in fact it got tapped and they told me to open up the box to check if the lights were on and in fact they were but I really don't feel a big difference in power even on level five . On the adrenaline you definitely could feel the difference when you turn it up ,could it just be the difference between programers?
