I was just wondering if it's important to worry about the KDP problem on 2002 models? I know they say that some have an updated case cover that fixes the problem & others don't have the fix.....Is the KDP problem very common on 02' models? I purchased mine new in May of 2002 & was just wondering if there is any way to know at all if it has an updated timing case cover?

I just bought my truck a few months ago, this is my first diesel and I am very happy with it. I've been looking into getting the high idle and 3 cylinder high idle enabled on it and getting the fooler as I am tired of waiting for it to warm up. My concern is does the 3 cylinder high idle wear 3 cylinders more than the other 3? Does the firing order alternate when in 3 cylinder high idle? I just don't want to tear the engine up. I would think that if Cummins included this in the software that it would be ok to use, after all they are the experts.

My son has a 2002 Ram 2500 HO 6 speed manual. About a week ago, the codes p0112 and p0237 showed up.We took off the Edge EZ otherwise the truck is stock.Cleaned the IAT sensor. Did not look that dirty. The MAC Scan tool (determinator) was unable to read the IAT or MAP voltages. Not sure if this is a limitation of the scan tool or an ECM problem. We cleared the codes but they return immediately when the ignition is on. We checked all the grounds and cleaned the battery terminals. The batteries were both at 12.7 volts.Measured resistance from the IAT gnd terminal on the connecter to engine block and got 0-0.1 ohms.So I think the grounds are ok. Measured the voltage of the IAT …

After MUCH wading through and reading I found this installation instruction manual for the Cummins/Fleetguard model CH41102 Centrifual Bypass Oil Filter which apparent is the correct filter for use on our 5.9 and 6.7 liter truck engines. Hope this and the training tutorial I posted helps to shine a bit more light and understanding of just how and why these filters work and the tremendous benefits they offer. http://www.fleetguard.com/pdfs/product_lit/americas_brochures/SB_LT32597.pdf

I have ran a lot (3 sets) of 275's and one set of 75's and now DDP's 50 hp. And while I am on the subject I would like to thank JohnFax for loaning me his 275 till mine came back. John I will have them in the mail as soon as you can give me your address. Lost original box you sent. And I have to say the DDP's are the best I have ran as far as low end inj. They have a feel like no other inj. good low and good mid range. They do cost more but I think worth it. I am going to check to see if they have the same angle of spray or what they did, what ever it is I like.

i was checking thru some old threads looking to see if anyone had dealt with the problem i am having. i saw a thread that smokey posted to about his cruise back in august. so if your are out there smokey let me know how you fixed it. my cruise light is lit whenever the truck is on and none of the controls function. the controls all seem to be working mechanicaly(easy to push and you canffeel the swithces operating as they have for the past 9 years). i replaced the clockspring while trying to diagnose other problems i had in the past. i even went back and reverse the wires to the controls just in case i had them backwards. no change. the only code i have is P500 and from w…

I am looking at both but the Fast Coolers are $125 vs. $239.95 for the Trans-Coolers. Anyone one using these. I would appreciate hearing about how both of these work, your likes and dislikes, and recommendations. Thanks!

Can the main computer shut down the Bosch VP44 if there is a cooling problem or temp sensor error? I have been having cooling problems on hot days and under load. After flushing radiator, the engine ran normally for 5 minutes down the freeway and then suddenly stopped and wouldn't start. (as if it ran out of fuel) . Fuel pressure from lift pump is OK. Fuel to the injection pump inlet OK but nothing at the injectors. There was no missing, no smoke, no roughness, good 23 mpg, just before shutdown. Coolant temp was normal. It seems odd that the VP44 would fail after I was working on the coolant system. Is there an internal fuel shutoff solenoid inside the VP44? …

Well, I was going to take my truck in today to have the codes read because I had the p1693 companion code. To review, I started another thread about my truck choking out on the highway, where I could power through it or back off and it would go away. Then my batteries died and after installing the new ones the truck seemed to run great! Now to my new issue... Towed my rock truck to an event this weekend and the truck only "choked" a little on the way up. Coming back I had to drag my buddies trailer back. 40 foot gooseneck with two buggies on it. I'm guessing 16,000 pounds. Truck was running great, went to lay into the throttle going up a hill and holy cow I thought my tru…

To remove wheel bearings you must first get to them.I left one tire on the ground the other i used a jack stand to get it off the ground. The rotor can be a major pain.I use a air hammer with a dime size bit and hammer around the lugs. Some times this works. If the rotors are trashed just beat them. You will crack them but if there trashed and you are going to replace them then it is no biggie. You need to remove the brake caliper and the bracket that holds it.Be careful not to bend the dust cover it is sandwitched between the wb and the housing.Use a bungie or a coat hanger to hold up the caliper out of the way. The axle nut should stay on.Remove the 4 bolts 1/2 way out tha…

I've spent the better part of a day an a half searching for someone that has posted something similar to the problems that I am having with no avail. I am hoping someone has some insight. This is on my 2001 4X4 that is pretty much stock. Background - It is on the third engine that I know of with the most recent swap being about 4 months ago. I do have codes that I have pulled with a scanner, but do not remember the numbers, something related to no communication from the transmission BUS. I believe that it is a ground or a plug somewhere, but being a new member I do not have access to the files that I need to trace it. I have gone through the schematics on the main sit…

My airdog 100 bit the big one yesterday, I had blown a fuse last week( 20 amp )and sicne then had to put 30'S to keep it going. Well 30's wont keep it going anymore. I belive it is something in elec. motor like bearing or something along those lines. Anyway I got to thinking, I shimmed the spring about 5 months ago to get more fuel pressure on the gauge 17 lbs. Could I be overworking my little 100, I have the 150 draw straw in tank. Well I ordered a 150 pump today, I just cant be down that long untill I get it back. Just thinking out loud, what do yall think?Oh and I was told today that the new pumps come with quick connects instead of the push on connects.
