Just to pick everyones brain....I just discovered that my a/c clutch engages on every position of the vent selection dial on the dash and only goes off when you turn that dial to off... Ever here of this? know of anything to check for? not an a/c guru at all I never mess with them. but with all the other problems this truck has had I might as well jump in and see if i can fix this too. Any thing I can unhook to make it not work till im ready for it or get it fixed? by the way its a 2001 auto truck. Thanks in advance

  2. Does anyone know where to get in-dash gauge clusters (or backings) that come in non-stock colors? For example: If you bought a set of Autometer Cobalt gauges for your pillar, and wanted to change the color of your speedo, tach, fuel level, engine temp, oil pressure, etc..., to a deep blue to match the Cobalts, how/where would you go to do it? I've looked a bit, but have found next to nothing except replacement stock dash panels. Sam

Well I am trying to figure out why my Ram started to eat the front tires. The truck is basically all stock replacement parts except the ball joints and track bar. The ball joints and track bar are all Moog parts. I jacked up the front end and did the typical 12 and 6 o'clock test to see if there was any play in the hub or ball joints and couldn't manage to see anything even when using a pipe under the tire. The only thing that really stuck out to me was the track bar. When on the ground you can visually see the gap increase between chassis mount and the ball stud in the track bar. The symptoms the truck has is the steering wheel is off by about 1/3 turn toward the d…

Hi Guys,My 2001 2500 Ram fuel gauge shows 3/4 full with 700 kms on the trip OD. I filled it up and it took 90 litres and the tank is 128 Litres. Previous to this, it showed 3/8 of a tank and I ran out of fuel and had to bleed the system. Is there a fix to this other than replacing the sending unit? It occured right after I installed my ScanGauge11 but I'm sure thats just a coincidence. Thanks,Arcwelder

Well after 30k my hancook dynapros as's are shot and in my opinion they were the worst purchase I have made for my truck and they were rotated and balanced every oil change 7k miles about if you are running these tires I'd like to hear your opinion. My front end was rebuilt top to bottom when these tires were put on so I dont think I am the reson for the quick weardown unless I missed something I would also like your guys opinon as to what the best lasting true allterain tire is. At the moment I'm switching to a 285 for shure and I'm debating going back to coopers discoverer st/c even though they cost an arm and a leg because I'll get 60k about out of them and in the wint…

I searched the forum before this post but still not clear on this type of headlight. I was looking at these to replace mine due to the usual fogged lense, anyone on here know anything on these or have them? Wonder if they're just install and wire to the ground and live via wire tape, or is it alot more to it then i'm understanding? basically want to know if this is a good way to go or not http://www.k2motor.com/94-95-96-97-98-99-00-01-dodge-ram-halo-projector-headlights-black-tm.html

Had my truck for 5 years now and for the past 2 it's needed to be fixed up and painted. I can't believe the prices i'm getting but all 4 quotes come in around the same so i guess it's not one person trying to take me. I've got an 02 quad cab and i've decied since my fenders have some rust on them i'm putting a good rust free set of southern fenders on it, my door has been doughed up from being hit so a southern door and the one box side is getting a bit thick on the lip and a few blisters so i've decided to put a southern box on it too. Drivers rocker being replaced and the rest of the truck is ok to use existing panels. Hopefully I can recoup some of my costs by selli…

I just found out that I have a leak on the drivers side of my cab. The carpet is dry on the side of the fender and the tranny as well as the carpet under the pedals. I can't figure out where it is coming from. The truck is parked on a slight slope, with the passenger side being about 6" lower. I pulled the kick panel off and started to pull the carpet up a little and so far no signs of a leak. Any one ever have this happen to them? Looking for suggestions! Thanks.

Hi I just bought a 1999 dodge 2500 4x4 and the other night the abs, brake, air bag, check engine, low fuel, and ccd pop up on the over head consol all gauges go dead and in the odometer is was flashing no bus. My wife drove the truck today and it was fine if you turn to the left but if you turn to the right it would do the nobus thing. The abs/brake lights would pop on every once in awhile before . I need to fix this asap since this is our family car and we got it two weeks ago and this happens. So any help would be great. Thank you

  14. 3 dumb quick questions 1) Can someone paint me a picture or upload one) of how the spring/plastic button in the overhead MAP lights go together. I had it fixed (1 side) then took it apart for reference to fix other side and it all flew over the truck - and now neither work so I have no point of reference. Just the spring activated button with the plastic toggles. How many pieces and how they connect to create the 'spring'. 2) I had a faulty vp44 and tracked back to dodgy (like the pun ?) fuel output/return lines on top of fuel canister in tank. Whilst taking the grey clip off the harness/canister to check I broke it - and now it says FULL all the time when reconnected. I …

Can someone who owns an 01, or similiar brake system, with hyro boost brakes tell me how I can bleed the ABS system. I have replaced my hydro boost and bled the the lines at the tiresbutg, they are still spongy. Is there some other place I should be bleeding the system from?? Thanks for the help!!!

  16. OK Gang... I discovered something today... For all of you that have mechanical fuel pressure gauges that are direct plumbed can have even more safety now. I found that you can get 1/8" air brake line at NAPA for cheap. The nice part is that the air brake line is rated well above 150 PSI (which I hardly doubt a 15-20 PSI lift pump will blow) and it extremely flexable. So if you kink the line it doesn't break off like oil pressure gauge tubing. This is Polyon Air Brake line. My problem was where my old school big line kit has the tap in the line for gauge is in between the filter and VP44 so every time I would work on my truck I would flex line so much I break it off. Now I…

I was trying to use the trip and did the reset but noticed that all the settings reset every time I shut down. My mpg AVG resets to 12, my miles resets to something like 2734. I is there a battery in there that wears out? My lighter is working ok and my phone charger works with the key off so there is power at least there. Is there a different backup source for the overhead? It is nice to have the odo for trip. Thanks, Curt

  19. Hello all, I just took my truck in to check the alignment and it seems I need new ball joints. The shop wants a pretty penny but I think i am up for the challenge myself. The only thing I am concern about is weather or not it has or needs adjustable/offset balljoints. From my understanding the only way to tell if you have them allready is to look at them, possible after you have already removed them. This is great if the town you live in has offset balljoints in stock! But as it so happens, I don't live in that town! All that is immediately available are standard ball joints. Could I just get the adjustables anyway and be good or vice versa? Any thoughts? Thanks Chris

Is it possible to get to the back side (just curious, don't want to do anything to it) of the in cab fuse box without too much hassle? I've had the lower leg protector under steering wheel off with its 3 screws, but don't see easy way to get the next piece of plastic off? Is the next piece of plastic all one piece across the lower dash, i.e. will I have to mess with air bag electronics to go deeper into the lower dash, or upper for that matter (for when I go with the dash top 3 pod gauge mount, which I like better than a-pillar. Thanks a bunch.
