First off hey all! First post and coming over from CR. Seems to be the more techy minds here. Ok my question is with tm and the smarty. Hopefully I can explain in words what's going on in my mind. Best way for me to describe smarty is it seems to shorten the pedal distance for the ECM to determine wot. My concern is with the auto trannies. Being that more power/tq is produced at less pedal movement, would the tranny not suffer from less tv pressure meaning less line pressure and lower clutch holding ability? The first years of 24v did not have tm so how did the transmissions deal with this? Is the bellcrank for the tv cable different or the lever on the tranny indexed dif…

When I purchased my truck, it came equipped with a performance tuner. I didn't know what it was, what it did, or how it worked.I later found out it was a Quadzilla, not sure exactly which one. Must be one of the older ones, because the one I have, I couldn't find on their website. I started messing with it and realized none of the features I had set would work. Now, I don't know how many of you know much about these Quadzillas but, i'm debating on wether or not I should keep it on the truck.Under the hood I found a disconnected EGT sensor. I don't know if it belongs to the the Quadzilla specifically, or if it's factory. But, it could be why nothing on this thing works, wh…

Gang, I got to looking up latter and traction bars and came across these: http://www.tuffcountry.com/miscellaneous/traction-bars.html I was wondering is anyone is running a set and if they do anything?? I like the idea of them not hanging down below the frame and they are pretty cheap. I don't plan to race/pull on a daily basis, I just want to help with the hop when I play around every now and then. Also might help when pulling trailer? Any feedback would be great!! Thanks, Winslow

Hey,I was curious...I have a BD Power box which has levels up to 5-5. It is just like the Edge Comp. I was curious if Edge can make it "hot" like the Comp Drag to keep fueling up to the 3200 rpm range??? I have been told it the same as the Comp but different label because BD Power bought some of these boxes from Edge and slapped their name on them. Does anyone have any idea? Thank y'all

  8. Where is the data link connector to hook up my edge comp? I've spent a lot of time looking but no find. Is it a loose connector or is it connected to something and I have to disconnect it? I did find a loose 4 pin connector but it does not match what the comp came with.

  9. I'm planning to add an XZT+ before towing season. I really need to upgrade the lift pump before I get into towing again. So I'm weighing the options vs cost. I'd like to do this once... I'm not going racing but need to tow properly... can never be sure what that'll take until I've done it. Airdog vs Raptor?Should I go for the draw straw & big line?Russ

  10. Installed a 0-30 psi gauge yesterday. I tapped into the filter housing; the '99 has two 1/8" pipe thread ports on the top of the filter bracket, inboard port is post-filter. I used Mike's recommended Weatherhead needle valve feeding into a tee; pressure line to one port, Kohler engine oil pressure switch (NAPA SME 2509927S) to the remaining port to activate a low pressure warning light. Good news is all works well. Bad news is low pressure (big surprise here,eh?); 10 psi engine not running, 7-8 psi engine idling, 5 psi around town & 65 mph cruise on highway.Solution is not all that clear. Presently the truck is stock, 173k miles, seems to run fine, no starting proble…

  13. Been reading up on the problematic OEM lift pump & aftermarket solutions. I have to say I'm a bit confused as to why the aftermarket pumps have a relief valve. I can understand that there needs to be a return to the tank from the lift pump to dump the air that has been removed from the fuel. But doesn't the OEM fuel system have a pressure relief valve that maintains supply pressure, and bleeds the excess into the fuel return line at the injection pump? Also doesn't the excess fuel used to cool the IP? If the pressure relief valve on the LP opens up, what happens to the required extra flow to the IP? Is the OEM pressure relief/return system overwhelmed by the aftermark…

So I changed the lash to 8 intake 15 exhaust. It still spools really good but not the jump I was expecting because it was a huge difference when I went from 10/20 to 8/18 so I thought 8/15 would be a big jump again on spoolup but I don't think it changed that much. I am thinking me cleaning the turbo and all the crap off of the turbine shaft must have gave it a big kick. I will say this though, it runs reallllllly smooth now. The power just rolls on perfectly, no points on the throttle that are more powerful than others, even down at lugging speeds. I might go back and set the intakes down to 6 and see what happens.

Now that I have money for once I am going to change out everything. I want to use the best there is. I am putting valvoline premium blue in the engine but for the trans I am debating redline/dodge dealer gold. For the axle I have no clue what is good. I am going to have to do an engine flush and change out the antifreeze and maybe drill a hole in that thermostat like I keep seeing. I will make a writeup on that since there is a question on flushing a 12V. So what do you guys think I should use? I do have one preference, it can't be amsoil
