  1. So my wife purchased a Focus a couple years ago. Not a bad car, little small, but good fuel mileage. However since we have had the car it has been a lemon. First issue was random acceleration. Yes that is right. I swear this car is half Toyota. This was at 4k miles. The dealer claimed wires were improperly restrained and rubbed through on the clutch pedal. However I distinctly remember while cleaning the car there were no wires hanging down in this area. There was also a lot of noise when the transmission was in neutral and the clutch was engaged. They claimed it was normal gear mesh / no load noise. I called B.S. but they stuck to their story. In fact for the…

I was looking at my brothers service truck and thought it would be neat to show you guys the difference. Even I don't know what I would do with a mess like that.

  3. Wife will be going up in the morning... I'm planning to pass on this trip. 5 hours round trip, at least... It should be about Mother & baby... I don't travel well & my needs would be an uncomfortable distraction. There is another event here in the afternoon & that alone would be enough for me.Russ

  8. The Fifty-Year Soaring Cost To Raise A Child It cost $25,299 to raise a child from birth to age 18 in 1960. The amount rose to $226,920 last year. This may be one of the reasons many reasons Americans are having fewer children these days. Adjusted for inflation, the 1960 sum equals about $192,497 compared to $235,996 in 2010, about a 22 percent increase. Neither number paints a complete picture. Median household income rose 25 percent between 1960 and 2010. The cost of raising a child is, in comparison to income over the 50-year period, up very modestly. 1960 Total Cost to Raise Child (Not Inflation Adjusted): $25,229 Total Cost to Raise Child …

After their 11th child, an Alabama couple decided that was enough, as they could not afford a larger bed. So the husband went to his veterinarian and told him that he and his cousin didn't want to have any more children. The doctor told him that there was a procedure called a vasectomy that could fix the problem but that it was expensive. 'A less costly alternative,' said the doctor, 'is to go home, get a cherry bomb, (fireworks are legal in Alabama ) light it, put it in a beer can(COORS), then hold the can up to your ear and count to 10.' The Alabamian said to the doctor, 'I may not be the smartest tool in the shed, but I don't see how putt…

Yesterday I heard some jets going by and I looked up and there was a 747 with 2 fighters alongside it. I don't know if this was just some exercise as I saw a smaller jet but bigger than a fighter, with 2 more fighters running around it a little more loosely, that were a few minutes behind what I thought was AF1. Do you guys think that was really AF1? It was yesterday and was heading back towards DC I suppose around 7PM.

It may sound weird but I get a kick out of seeing where you guys are from and what it looks like where you live. Maybe because I have this crazy idea that I'll someday be able to move and just aren't sure where that place should be.....Some of the places you guys show in your pictures are really something beautiful too. Here's a picture of my back yard during some winter weather. Unfortunately I dont have to many pictures of my "area" but I can assure that just because I live in CA, I dont live anywhere close Los Angeles or any actors.

  14. Guess that about says it. 150K miles, gas V8, automatic. It has a plow which is one attraction. I'd be plowing my own driveway with it & selling off an ATV with plow. Sheila wanted to keep the ATV to pull her garden cart... I told her to hook it to the lawn tractor (mower) like everyone else does!

I just had a thought here..it has come to my attention that MPG is a very talked about topic and I have always wondered how to get the most out of my truck. Now I know there are guides and stuff saying air your tires up, take weight out of the truck, whatever but I want to go about this entirely different. I think everyone knows every little thing effects MPG to an extent, from the tires to the quality of the car wash you got. My thought is to expand on this. If MPG goes up, that means efficiency goes up. If efficiency goes up, pulling the trailer becomes easier. You seemingly end up with more power if say you made the truck more aerodynamic, you aren't pushing as m…

Any one ever tore the cartilage in their wrists? :yme:Not even sure how I did it, just at work a few weeks ago and my wrist started to hurt. Got progressively worse and finally formed a bump. Bump started out about a 1/4" and now is about 1". Doctor referred me to an orthopedic which in turn sent me for MRI's. The results came back and say that I have torn the Triangular Fibro Cartilage Complex or TFCC and as a result a ganglion cyst has formed. I couldn't get back in to see the orthopedic but my doctor said most likely they will want to do surgery because the damage seems to be getting worse every time he sees me. I really don't feel like I am working it any harde…

  19. Gas is near $4 per gallon, but you don't need to buy a new car to get better mileage on your road trip this summer. Popular Mechanics put fuel-sipping advice to the test by outfitting an ordinary ten-year-old car with an extremely accurate fuel economy gauge and trying out all the gas-saving driving tactics we could think of. We bring you the six strategies that work, plus more quick tips for better MPG. By Mike Allen | Popular Mechanics Tactic No. 1: Coast to a Stop Brakes are necessary (duh!), but they're inherently wasteful: They take the kinetic energy of a moving car—energy it took pricey gasoline to generate—and turn it into heat that's lost to the air. Everyone k…

  20. I've got a story for you all... I got a phone call not too long ago to help a local gent here with a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 V8 that he had just change the clutch but someone had mickey moused the crank sensor. My first thing was I was going to print a copy of the error codes and take with me. I fired up the web site and start to print the error codes and realized at the last second that the printer is set for single side. So not to waste paper I flip the power switch off and back on to kill the printer job but left a half printed page jammed in the printer (PAPER JAM!). So I open it up and pull the toner out and carefully pulled the page out. Closed it up still got the erro…
