My tractor has been running great for 13 years. Has about 800 hrs. All of a sudden it has very hard starts but, once it runs, it's very smooth at idle and any throttle position. There is no water in fuel, no water in oil and has a new fuel filter. Air filter minder still shows good only moving about 1/4 of the way to the red warning line. It has white smoke while cranking and then clears up and runs real good. It will start again real good, no hard start, if run again within about an hour. I cleaned all electrical and checked fuel pump fuse connector and put in new fuse even though old one was good. Do any you guys know what else I should look for? I…

It's been snowing here essentially non-stop now since about 1:00PM yesterday. Shoveled about 9-10" of snow earlier today…….10:00AMish…………….probably have another 2-3" now. Cut a load of future firewood both yesterday and on Monday, and I can't see it now!!!! I just unloaded it in the front yard, just off the sidewalk. Temp is about 20*F now…………..this is all coming off Lake Michigan (lake effect snow) as the wind is straight out of the East off the lake. It's cold, so the snow is real light and dry.

I'm 56 and a landscaper. My body is beginning to remind me that I work in a young mans occupation. I really don't want to expand and have employees (been there and done that). Industry wages have remIned static for 20+ years. We were getting $35 per man hour in the late 80's. That's about the average now. We've seen expenses go up over the decades, fuel is one of my biggest expenses. So between narrowing margins and the reality of my body not being able to produce what it once did, I'm looking for a bit less physical occupation. Well hello all. I am having a hard time finding a fuel tank selector valve for a project I am working on. The particular truck involved is a 1972 GMC 2500. The old valve is cracked and leaking and we want to upgrade it to an electric valve if possible anyway. Here is the catch.... This truck has 3 tanks. The stock tank behind the seat, and one saddle tank on each side of the bed. I cannot seem to find anyone who makes such a thing!! I have tried all my suppliers at work (I.E. airtex, carter, spectra, velvac, dorman etc.). The old valve is just a mechanical switch on the floor and I cant even find that set up anymore. Has anyone rebuilt a Holly Black, (Blue or Red) fuel pump. Is it had to do, were to get parts, is it worth it. I was looking at a Big End Black, (I think that's what it's called) for $91 shipped to my door. Made by Holly, looks the same as a Holly Black with the same spec. Any advise?

Well tonight is my Christmas party for the Fire Dept. Snow blowing and drifting all over the highway between home and Riggins, ID. Buddy Kelly informed me that north of Grangeville, ID has had at least 7 slide off vehicle accidents so far. I've got video of the trip to town and post it later when I get home.
