This thread is where I will post updates of my modifications, issues i've had, and potential upgrades I'm considering.

This page is dedicated to @TFaoro, because without him my truck would be bone stock still....

To start off, today my VP died.  It took me by surprise, as it gave no indication there was an issue.  But, it threw Death Code P1691, and that's that.  Good thing it died before I bought tires.

Is DAP everyone's first choice for a new VP?

  • That was all him lol. I stood by and provided encouragement.

  • I am jealous of the timing cover. Sure is purdy!!!

  • Yesterday I made a trip down to @TFaoro's shop to put a Fast cooler on my truck and do a pinion seal.  While there I was able to witness his new p pumped truck start up and go back together, while put

I was wondering how your headlights were coming along.  Almost there. :thumb1:

Yeah I got sidetracked.  Trimming of shrouds and housings is complete, and tonight I should be aiming and closing the housings up, and setting the adjustable bucks.

Hids are awesome and you will be very pleased.

I think I just got the final tweak done on mine. Test drive in a few minutes.

Like tonight I pissed off a truck with my HID's on low beam. He flip on his high beams then I blasted back with mine. Then all I saw was his arms stretch out like  :wtf: ... I know my lights are aimed properly but there is that rare times of angles on a grade than make them appear too high.

That's the only time I seem to piss someone off and flash me with high beams, I try to stay calm and not flash them back, but I did few times just for a moment to show them I was using low beam

That's why it took me so long to get them adjusted. I don't want that to happen.  So far so good.  Probably passed 50-75 vehicles last night and no high beam flash.

Driving the chrysler 300 we rented helped me see what a factory HID looks like.

Is it better, worse different pattern?

Now that I have mine adjusted correctly they are pretty much the same.  The only difference was the 300 had 3500k+/- bulbs and I do not prefer that yellowish color.  Plus the fog lights were like 6000k.  :cookoo:

It is just a weird combination. The fogs did help the headlights look whiter.  On my truck just the opposite, 5000k headlights & stock fog light bulbs. Next upgrade is new fogs wth 5000k bulbs

I had 8000k led on one of my 3500's, got pulled over by a trooper, told they were illegal and gave me a warning. I didn't argue with him and just took them out because they were blinding on coming traffic no matter the angle I set them at. We sometimes pull over the legal rate so, I don't need the attention it was already getting. Lol

That being said they were awesome though. I would use them again on a offroad truck!

LED headlights or fogs?  I think there are few, if any, legal LED replacement bulbs for either.  Most are labeled as off road only. LED headlights can't be used in reflector housing as they scatter light too much.

They are headlight led’s. I just have them on a shelf in the barn. The trooper had an attitude and even went into saying my stack was illegal, etc etc.

Headlight build is again on hold until I get a new retaining nut from Morimoto, as the little thin one stripped :spank:.  Meanwhile, I now have this:

So if you care, come check out the newest level of degenerate shenanigans courtesy of me.

Just in case anyone is curious, the pickup has been trouble free since the differential. Just ate a u-joint the other week, but that’s not much.

Also. VP Max boots are very good at what they do. Didn’t blow off under this pressure

:burnout2:80 PSI that's a lot of boost pressure. Wow!

Since I've done the head gasket on mine and the ARP studs I've been re-tuning and capable of spinning that HX35/40 up to 45 PSI as a small single.  The funny part, that only with 1,200us of wiretap. Then the other problem is the 245's don't like it much being they tend to lose grip with the asphalt. :burnout2:

Sounds like you need some wider tires Mike!

I’ve got some timing adjustments to do yet in preparation of winter blend and also some adjustments to my ‘p-pump’ tune so it spools quicker

:umno:

I just added a full 1° degree across my spectrum. Cruise timing for my rig is optimal at about 21°. I've tried backing down to 18° for cruise timing and dropped to 18 MPG. I know this is the wrong direction. What I've done is got away from the +3° spread between bands and went to +4° spread between bands and start out at 14° ado plus 4° up. I know my max is 27° after that I get bucking. The +4° spread works out awesome giving me a nice retard on the low end of the RPM's and then pulling up the power rather quickly so quick the tires get overwhelmed. This is good now I'm going to build around this. This means I've got a breakaway point for torque and can eat a differential kind of like someone I know.

Now it time to go hunt for big tire 4th gens... Time to whip on the pup's.. :burnout:
