To start off, today my VP died.  It took me by surprise, as it gave no indication there was an issue.  But, it threw Death Code P1691, and that's that.  Good thing it died before I bought tires.

 

Is DAP everyone's first choice for a new VP?

Yes it does. That area right around the speed sensor is particularly time consuming. 

So it runs with a swapped psg?  

 

 

I have always wondered.  You now you have an ho pump with a so computer?  Call it the cold rod pump?

pretty sure this pump is going on Trevors truck

No, this pump went on Tyler's truck, for the sole purpose of getting him home.  I'm still getting a pump through DAP, which should show up today.  Tyler swapped the PSG's in about 5 minutes and his truck runs great now, except for a stumble at idle.  Must be a side effect of a cold rod pump!

I wonder how much I could sell this cold rod pump for?? It's got a custom lope tune at idle

Ya I've been too busy selling stock truck parts!

New pump showed up tonight!  However, it won't be going into the truck right away due to a dry, cracked tappet cover gasket. (thanks to @TFaoro, whose favorite past time is to show me what's wrong with my truck lol).  But, it is a good time to do this repair, if the parts store could ever find the gasket in their stock....

Yes. 

Is this standard on rebuilds?

I guess. Tyler's industrial injection had silicon, this one does, and even the ho pump out of my truck had silicon.

Made some progress on the VP install today, mostly concerning the tappet cover gasket and a stock filter housing delete.  @TFaoro also helped run an extra coolant line to monitor coolant pressure in the cylinder head.  The VP did go in the truck, but it is not tightened down yet, and I am waiting for the black paint to dry on the injection lines.  Pictures of the VP and black injection lines will follow tomorrow, but all I have for now is the tapped cover gasket.  Yes, that is yellow paint in the lifter valley, and I am not sure why it is there... Also I am aware my engine is dirty.... (pictures loaded backwards)
