Well I thought maybe my Ecm fuse cracked or something the day I hit the water but now yesterday my ecm fuse blew again. Wasn't doing anything other than just driving down the road. The heck could be causing this and is it something common or is something I'm going to have to beat my head on the truck while trying to fix it. This pretty much guarantees I'll be selling it too. Tired of having to fix something every time I want to drive it.

  • These two wires are direct wired to the relay for the airdog. IF they are not shielded, covered, taped etc. they will blow the fuse when shorted to ground. Ask me how I know.....

  • There is no ECM fuse. Which fuse do you see blowing. Hate to see you sell it for a fuse that does not exist.

I think it's the Engine control 2 fuse  the long square looking 20 amp fuse.  I'll have to go out tomorrow to look for sure but I'm pretty sure thats it

What systems are down when this fuse blows? I have one in mine but it has never blown. I see a lot of references to cruise control problems.

I'm not much of electrical guy but I felt like selling my truck more then once.  But every time I see some people I know having new or newer vehicles bust out few thousand bucks on something stupid I change my mind. The only way I'd ever sell it if I had money to lease something and not worry about fixing anything, but then again if I had money to throw away I'd still keep the truck just to play with it. We all feel your pain. Try to find what it is fix it and move on.

I am definitely not the electrical genius either. Having issues myself but thats another story. Hate to see someone frustrated and ready to sell. Been there done that but made it thru it.

What do you have for a lift pump? I found out something really nifty with the airdog harness'.....

I got my nice new to me Laramie with every option cause the guy thought it was falling apart. So far I have been able to fix everything on the broken list that made the guy trade it in.Thanks to this forum and all the help for that.

It's amazing to me what little stuff makes a guy sell his truck helped me find a beauty, then I go on the forum have a lot of fun bugging everyone.... What's wrong with my truck???? Is it this or could it be that??? poor Michael Nelson YAK yak Yak.

Back to the Airdog harness... what's nifty about it?

I have attached the FSM  page for a 2001.   On what is on that fuse.

It powers the ECM, PCM, and "fuel pump relay"  (the main hot for the VP)

I think you have a short in one of the wires.  (between the fuse and one of those three components.  The harness is damaged from rubbing on something.)   You are going to have to look very hard and find it.  My first suspect would be the large loom coming out of the PDC all wrapped in tape, it goes down the drivers inner wheel well sort of towards the ECM.  This place just seems to have a lot of issues from things rubbing it.

Jbayes brings up a good point too.... How are you powering your lift pump.....  could your lift pump be damaged or otherwise pulling too much power?  I will have to research it, but this fuse may provide the actual lift pump power that enables the stock lift pump through the ECM internal relay...

Good luck!

Which airdog? Does it have the pressure light leads? Two smallerish eyelet terminals with blue wires?

Gonna have to give me a few, It's hotter than Hades and the only place to work on it or crawl under it is in the street and I bet I could fry an egg on the ground today. I might get under the truck later tonight with a light but I just got off the rider mower and I look like I came out of the shower. The heck with this muggy heat

Well it looks like the not so electrically challenged have come to the rescue.

Still want to know this AD trick @jlbayes mentioned.
