Just upgraded to 17" rims this week. Really happy with the overall look. A lot of work the last year on this truck.  New paint, New Dash, New Tires, New Wheels.

I’m not sure mine fits in with all the clean looking one around here, 305k on the clock. Owned it since 2002. It had 15k on it when I got it.  Just my little work horse

Yes it did. EGTs stayed under 1200F . ‘Twas  a bit laggy but that is due to my setup.

What happened?

Alternator fried. I measured the alternator at 433*F when it popped. It took out the PCM I'm figuring being the new alternator is dead and not charging. Carrying tools but does no good when you don't have the parts to fix the problem. Fresh alternator and 11.2 volts. Nope, it's not charging. Failed on the field lead side being I'm going to assume the PCM is cooked too.

Ouch. Hopefully it's just the charging circuit in the PCM rather than the entire PCM.

I will take a gander at my tickle trunk & see if I have one.

New to this community. Just thought I’d introduce myself. The amount of knowledge in this forum is amazing compared to other places. I’ve owned my 01 since 2008 and just went through a major overhaul. Just couldn’t get myself to give up and get a new truck when this one has always been so good to me. I have learned a ton rebuilding this beast and I have a ton of learning to do with the V2 Adrenaline so I’m sure I will be asking questions soon enough! Thanks again for allowing me to be a part of the Moparman forum!

Hello and welcome! That’s a very nice looking truck! We’d live to see more pics o your build as well!

Nice truck. If that was a head gasket replace I'd love to hear your knowledge on that project. I'm in fear that will be my next hurdle as I'm approaching 200k. Looks like you were able to keep the AC connected and not lift the cab to clear the head. Please enlighten us all.

i would not worry about 200k. I am at 450k and just now facing it. though I could be pretty lucky.

Thanks guys! That’s where I’m at too rotohead, right at 200k. I had a local transmission shop build me a bomb proof tranny and while he was in there he found that it was seeping coolant at the rear of the head. Not bad but I thought I’d rip the head off and replace the head gasket. It just kind of morphed from there. It’s always had an oil leak that I assumed was from the vacuum/ps pump assembly but turned out after  rebuilding the pump it was the tappet cover...so out came the injection pump. Got a Keating  machine tappet cover and fuel bracket delete. I wasn’t going to put the old injectors back in so I got new injectors, then needed a Quad to control fuel to the HY, then decided I needed a turbo and exhaust manifold too! Haha It was a slippery slope for sure!

Then ended up replacing all sensors, ARP’s, and an S&B intake elbow which hasn’t arrived yet. The K27 was not a drop and go turbo...both the exhaust and compressor side had to be clocked to get the feed and drain in the correct orientation then needed to get a fleece turbo drain cause the stock drain had a split in it. Then had to shave and thin out a portion of the wastegate bracket and grind on a bolt to get orientation correct. Manifold is awesome as are the Stage8 bolts with tabs to prevent backing out. We will see how they hold up! Also made a breather for the 12an fitting off the tappet cover and also ran 3/4 inch hose from the front breather into the breather as well.

Yes, it never ends, but it pays back when driving down the road :burnout:

On more than one occasion I thought of getting something else myself but for whatever reason I'm still:truck:

V2 is not bad once you figure it out, time consuming for sure to tune just right. But you can get it pretty close to start with. Then it's fine tuning from there.

Good looking truck and this place is great, makes some bad days much better just bsing here. Welcome to the club.

Edit

Nice house too, but what's funny is you'll get more compliments on your old truck then on the new house, from a real man at least ha ha.

Second Cummins I’ve ever owned. Love these trucks! Just installed a Red Head steering box and support.

The house is hers...the truck is mine! Haha I was pretty proud of that park job going sideways across all three bays of my garage! Left me room to use my engine hoist to lift the head. My wife...not so impressed! She lost her spot for a month or so. So for that month only the important things were in the garage...my motorcycle and my truck!
