Is there any upgrade to get wipers to go faster?

 

 

O15point9, That is a piece of weatherstripping helps direct rainwater away from dripping on the wire harness below. Also helps direct it out off each side of the truck. It presses on by hand the top firewall sheet metal lip and the plastic cowel cover.

 

It also helps direct water off the ends to not drip onto the PCM pin connectors. Although both my trucks had a small area that let water run down there, I placed a bead of black caulking to make the water run out the side further and not on the trucks computer.

 

The foam pieces were rotting and not really sticking well anymore so they got canned years ago and use a small burm of caulk instead.

I think Micheal uses that weather strip to beat the crap out of me last time I visited him

I always take both loose. A ground is still a ground.

 

A zip tie, no bungie. The column trim has gotten beat up over the yeas and needed a trip to the hardware store for #9 screws.

About how long of piece did he use?  

I've got some old stuff I could use, couple inches?  And have some plastic split wire loom stuff.  Object is to protect wires, right?

 

 

I don't know what all it protects, but the LMC replacement is only $20. It does run the length of the hood. Probably a good investment.  Shipping adds more for sure.

 When I ordered my new dash bezel shipping was $27 and change. When I added new weather striping for the drivers door, the shiping remained the same for both.

 Never hurts to add things to the cart and see where the tipping point on shipping is. You can always remove them. That is if shipping is the sticking point.

Thanks, that's what I'll do, order the thing.  In pic looks like to me just little piece to keep plastic cowl piece from abrazzing on metal in center.  Didn't know was full length.  Thanks for pointing that out.

Instead of pulling windshield fluid reservoir, I'm going to rinse it out 3 or 4 times, sucking out any junk with wet dry vac.  (Didnt realize a pain to pull)  thanks for info.  Info like that makes this site worth it to me.

I have never understood why the washer resevor is so hard to pull when the radiator reservoir is so easy pull. It's like you need 3 hands for the washer and 2 hands for radiator, and one of the hands is so you don't have to put beer down.

I take the garden hose down in there and make a huge rinsing turbulence with the water pressure inside the radiator bottle. Could one do that on the washer bottle without hurting the pump?

 

My 01 has it about 52 inches, but could easily run 56 and a half inches to go all the way.

Yes. That is an option just don't get carried away with water pressure. Then pull the tubing off the pump bottom to drain the reservoir. If you're in a hurry you could turn the key on push the wash button till its empty.

Parts came in today.  I might be victim of terminology bewteen OEM manual and LMC truck.  

Do you folks have one weatherstrip piece that goes across metal lip and plastic cowling and another weatherstrip piece that goes bewteen glass windshield and plastic cowling?

As far as the cowl to glass now not on my truck.

There was at one time but NOW not on my truck?

 

So the only weatherstriping you have is edge of cowl and hangs over the edge of cowl which is under hood to protect wires.  Like in pic.

 

And there is no weatherstriping bewteen glass and cowl (where windshield meets cowl.  

 

 

 

Mine has nothing between glass and plastic just like yours and same weather strip on front

Don't forget to plug windshield fluid hose back before you put it all back lol
