Hey there guys new to the site seeking some help. So truck runs and drives but will randomly die or stumble and pick back up it has a brand new air dog lift pump in it and the VP44 is a year old when it does sometimes shuts off or resets the radio, bad ECM? This is on a 98.5 

Have you checked for any trouble codes? Was it doing this prior to the AD install?

It has codes but the scan tool wasn’t able to pull them and yes it was doing it before the AD, also some times it will make the radio shut off/reset

will the scan tool not comunicate with  the trucks computers?

No sir I check all the fuses and it doesn’t have any  blown fuses, let me back track the CEL popped up after I pulled the ECM ground off the block to check for corrosion.

The scan tool should still pull the code or codes.

I agree, idk why it isn’t pulling the codes

Check the pins in the OBDII port. It can and has happened to me where one pin pushed out.

10/4 ill check it out see what happens with it thank y’all 

 

It's a bit difficult but you can remove the plug from the dash metal so you can see and check each pin.

I agree on that. How are your battery connections?  Nice clean and dry? Eiminate the simple stuff.

Yes it has good solid battery connections all the grounds have been checked new air dog and newer injection pump everything points to the ecm in my opinion I’ve checked all the fuses made sure the box is grounded good 

Cracked fuse. As the fuse warms up it opens and drops the power.

So what fuse should I buy to replace than? The big black one for the fuel pump relay maybe? Or what one 

I'm not too bright on electrical maybe someone can provide the diagram of a fuse that controls it all, the only one I can think of is the one that comes from the alternator to PDC 140 amp. Unless there is another main one after that, death controls radio and whatever is killing your truck. Maybe someone messed with wiring before you got it.

Theres a set of terminal connections below drivers side battery. Check the nutz make sure they're tight. Mine was dieing because nuts were loose 

Give me a bit when I get home I can dig up the wiring diagram for power distribution.

Well small update it is not the ecm so got that ruled out I’m really racking brain now fellas I’m gonna get a new fuel really fuse tmrw so what it does hopefully it’s something that simple or at least I hope so
