Ok time for another question!Does anyone have a link, or information on the process of checking the waste gate as a routine thing? How do yo guys check your waste gate? Is there a step by step method? or what?It doesn't seem logical to go around prying on things, or the such. There must be away to exercise it to get it to open and close.Information will be appreciated.:thumbup2:

on my hx35 i take the hose off the "boost elbow" and but >21PSI thru the hose. you can see the arm actuate and even if you cannot see it, you can hear the "click". if those slave drivers don't waste all my time today, i'll make a vid for you

Easy way to watch the boost gauge... Stock setup will pop the wastegate at about 18-19 and stop building. Even on mine I rarely can tap the 35 pin on my boost gauge but typically I see 34 PSI as the wastegate pops open. In this video I can see 33.5 almost 34 PSI...

Agree a boost gauge is the best. If its stuck open you'll smoke and won't build much boost.. If its stuck closed you'll build boost like Mike.

I do have a boost elbow is the only reason I can reach that high... But don't want to go past 35 PSI...:smart:

Yeah.. thats a lot of boost for a HX35. I don't like going past 35 on my HE351.

so has anybody figured out a way to increase boost on a auto turbo, mine wont see more than 24 psi, i must have more.

My wastegate works fine and stock I could never tell when it opened. It opened around 23 supposedly but I never checked and a boost gauge never showed me anything. I could slowly go up from 18 and never saw the rate change. I say do what guesswho said, take the line off and use a regulator and turn it up until you see it open, then you know the pressure it is opening at.

Ok I'll wait till the weather cools down, then ill go see if I can test my wastegate and make sure it's working. Thanks

I just seen this thread....I need to check mine too. One morning I got in my truck and started off as usual and heard a very low rumble on take -off then clearing out at about 12-1500 rpms.It does that each time now. The weather is starting to cool off in the mornings now, so I need to check it out.
