Any guesses where this goes. My heart sunk at first but it's not a huge deal.

I haven't yet dug deeper.  Will find out soon.

  • I see that you found where the screw goes. There are 3 screws that length in the VB, and that was one of them.   I would absolutely not drive the truck until you sort that pressure issue out

  • guess I have not been in far enough to see them before.

Is that your oil drain plug?  Having never been inside a cummins I can't really even guess where that bolt came from.  I do feel your pain though, I have removed the oil pan on my mustang 3 times and always find something inside that shouldn't be there.

Theres like 50 more where that one came from I'm really hoping that it's not what I think it is. Though I dont think it's long enough.

I like the guessing game.

I'm guessing still and I have an idea where it came from.

I'm servicing mower's while it drains

did it come out of your truck or a lawn mower? Cant say I have seen one of those in my truck.

Came out of the truck. Your truck has them.

Just now getting to it. Will get a pic of what I find.

I was worried the filter dropped.

Just the one scree missing by the filter.

Pretty clean. About 20k on a mix of dex3 and +4

I bought 6 quarts of Lucas multi vehicle this time and dumped the converter so I'll have to mix with about 6  of dex3 to top it of.

Adjusting band. Gona bump pressure and turn TV stop in slightly to raise off idle pressure

Hopping to retain my 2-3 down shift while coasting but may loose it messing tv stop. Minumum pressure I'm still learning.

What I'm doing is raising it at idle and overal right now

I have slack in TV cable at idle right now. A project I've been meaning to do is lengthen TV lever where cable hooks on to get rid of slack. This wind make so soon as I'm on the throttle pressure rises instead of having to take up the slack

Maybe not 50 but a bunch. I'm putting a wrench on everything I can. Might have been loosening pressure through that screw hole. But not sure

I used to not like these gaskets. Once I started doing this they work just fine

Rear band is set pressure bumped TV stop bumped now going together. Then front band.

I guess I know why I have not seen that part before. None on mlne.

What kind of gauge and set up were you running.

Have not used this yet but I picked this up from Amazon for $57 it seems like a really nice set. Has 400psi and 100psi.

That sucks!!!   Was it a bad gauge or to much pressure.

I was seeing higher than normal pressure.  Before being locked. Video is for dynamic.  Dont know why it didnt cross my mind the gauge would explode.  Major dumbass move on my part.gauge  is through passenger window I'm holding phone with right hand propped on center seat folded down. My phone speaker doesnt work.

Sounded like a rifle shot.

Truck shifts and drives very well.

Keep in mind I'm idling at 75psi. Coming off a panic wot runn through the gears.

I'm now scared to put a gauge on it

Hoping this was a fluke tranny probly cant survive 200 plus.

I have thought about having a mechanical gauge dashmounted . But never now. I'm Leary of my fuel gauge now

Fluid is way to hot and scarey to be in the cab at these pressures

I've got a few hrs into scrubbing shes coming clean. Worst part was I had a change of clean close all my welding stuff. Every thing all soaked.

I am wondering if something was stuck in the valve body. It was pulling super hard at idle now its pulling but back to normal

Good news is my slight pressure bump has cleaned up my 2-3 shift slot and 1-2 is quicker. I just barely turned the TV stop in. Still have coasting downshifts.

Reinstalled the screw that fell out and bands adjusted. Still have lots of life in them.

That 0-400psi gauge has a pretty decent hose set up with a quick release like on a air hose. Will have to check the hose rating now.

Did the gauge physically break or the line fitting pop off. I can see how it would destroy it self with some pretty nasty hot fluid all over the place.

Deff lucky was not worse off as bad as it looks.

Combination of both. Bleeding the face off and separated from the hose I had hose clamped on.

I see that you found where the screw goes. There are 3 screws that length in the VB, and that was one of them.

I would absolutely not drive the truck until you sort that pressure issue out. You will destroy your forward clutch Belleville spring (or any number of other things) in short order at those pressures. Something in there is not right. How far do you have the PR spring wound up? You may be coil binding the PR spring. And I would leave that TV stop alone, as I've said before. I don't think it's doing for you what you think it's doing for you...

Those OTC gauges are good quality, FWIW.

10/4.

Going to get another gauge. See what its doing.

I feel like something changed. Back to normal.

Only thing I did was turn pressure screw. Probly not even a full turn. Checked all screws and bolts I could DOD adjust bands but that couldn't cause pressure issues

No clue where TV sposed to be set so I'll mess with it till I'm happy.

Actually need to read trango caugh paper work I think it may say something about TV stop in there.

Thanks for confirming that pressure's to high to drive

Found a few items on the TV cable adjustment, it in the 2002 FSM PDF 1833 to 1835. Available under downloads.

There is a pretty good BD PDF that I found it has some good photos and some procedures in general for VB replacement work.

Then I found this link to an old post, it basically is a copy paste of the Manual.

Everything I ever ran across it's pretty critical to get it correct and use the factory adjustments.

Set the WOT 1-2 shift point at 2800-2900 rpm and your TV cable is set. But I definitely wouldn't be driving it with his pressure doing what its doing.

TV cable wont make it go 200plus on its own.

My TV cable is adjusted correctly

I have not put a gauge on it since but I am convinced that dynamic is right I did turn the pressure up but not 100psi up. Maybe 5 or 20psi.

Truck felt like a race truck. Now it's back to feeling normal.  I did like how it felt but was radical. It's now a good shifting. Easy driving truck. 2-3 is back to being ugh not so how I'd like it.

Quick firmish 1-2 ugh 2-3 and lock up is firm in 3rd and 4th both quick to.

Have to resist the temptation to stand on it each time it locks.
