Thinking about installing large turn signals on towing mirrors, so the people that are beside your trailer, in the other lane and staying there forever...get a big clue to move.

 

How hard do you think it would be to install turn signals on towing mirrors?

 

Wiring. Just tap into wiring?

 

Installing the signals...maybe a simple bracket?

Doesn't sound too hard.  How you said is pretty much how I'd go about it.  Except I think it would be much easier if you just mounted the turn signals onto the body panels instead.  You'd get pretty much the same effect and would be alot easier to hide the wiring and no bracket needed to mount.

If I wanted to do it I would do one of two things. Either get a later model mirror w/ signal built in, or get a real mirror like a stainless tripod or West Coast Jr. style and hang a red/amber signal on it. I just can't see how bolting something on to these cheap azz plastic shaking mirrors would last very long. There's several folks around who fit 3rd and I believe 4th gen mirrors. 

Thanks for the ideas.  Yeah this is an RV, wife would go crazy if I drilled holes in her doll house.  

Also not sure how much wiggling the mirror would do with a good size light mounted on it.  

There is at least one thread on here about hooking up 4th gen mirrors up to our 2nd gens. It can be done but I dont know how.

Check around I know I saw a vendor that has 3rd and 4th gen mirrors with 2nd gen mounts. 

 Just curious as to why one would choose 3rd or 4th gen mirrors over ones made for 2nd gen? Is there any advantages? I ask because I will at some point need to mount tow mirrors to my 2nd gen for towing our camper. The little Mickey mouse ears can't see around the RV.

If you compare, 3rd and 4th gen mirrors have a larger convex area. I believe 4th gen also have the blinker on mirror option. I got my tow mirrors from 1A Auto. They have numerous options

Afterthought

 Ok, thanks. I was just wondering. I'll probably stick with the 2nd gen type when I buy them. Easy bolt on. Most likely they will be aftermarket, OEM cost way to much unless I find some on a salvage truck.

I believe 1A Auto has the 2nd and 3rd gen style that are bolt on for 2nd gen
