Time for new injectors.  My engine load is down to around 2-3% and idle is at 900-950rpm.  My plan is to go with 7x10s and some ARP headstuds but I worry if my truck will be undrivable if my Quad goes out like Mike's recently did.  I know he said his didn't smoke too bad but I believe his turbo flows more air to clean it up.  I have just a stock HX35 with a boost elbow.  I don't want it smoking like a chimney if I have to drive it without the Quad.

Minimum pop pressure is 293 bar and its time to replace. This is why I don't like aftermarket injectors typically set below 310 bar which is stock. Then aftermarket builders know they can improve flow but at a cost of shorter life span. Hence why I popped at 320 bar, idle is 7% after close 100k miles.

You me and plenty others i changed injectors 4 times in last 50k firs 3 times not knowing what I wanted the last one was hoping to get few hundred thousand out of, not sure if it'll happen.

Make sure the engine is up to temp all assesories are off etc, at least that's how I did it. Guess outside temp may have something to do with that.

 

Now 310 bar is 4,500 psi. So -250 psi from 4,500 psi is 4250 psi. Now when you convert that back to bar you'll get 293 bar. If you add the 250 psi and convert back to bar you'll have 327 bar. Information right out of the 2001 Dodge FSM.

But did you not say that smaller injectors like my 50's should not be popped that high (320 bar)?

One thing l have gathered around here is no matter how much are trucks should   e alike the more different they seem to be.

Well .....  life got a hold of me. Got busy at work, then was trying to change jobs little closer to home that didn't work maybe for the best. Wife ended up changing her jobs, not sure how that will turn out yet, she's not too happy at the moment but it is a paycheck. Her other job subbed her department out to India after all that talk a year ago at their annual get together they were bragging on how they care. It's all how you look at it I guess. Just seems that this year is so screwed up I had little time to respond or comment, I did try to keep up, but I'm probably a month behind on reading. Maybe I'll start catching up now that things are slowing down a bit. Good to know you are all here as well, I miss being a small part of it at times, good people here  although we all have our belly buttons. 

320 bar is where I'm at 100k miles roughly and 7 to 11% engine load at idle and perfect 800 RPM still (+/-5 RPM).

 

310 bar is what the stock injectors and RV275 are popped too. 

 

305 bar is what most injectors builder like to use but at the cost of shorter longevity and more fuel flow. 

 

300 bar is another I've seen on some injectors where looking for more fuel flow. 

 

293 bar is the bottom limit set by Bosch for injectors.

 

280 bar typically you start hitting close to 0% engine load.

 

260 bar the idle will be close to 850 to 875 RPM and engine load of zero.

@Mopar1973Man I'm confused now, if you still have 320 bar after 100k then you're doing awesome. I'm just not sure with all this data where I am at this point with my numbers. Figured I'd be around 300bar with my readings. I'm definitely getting confused now 

Being off topic was something we were very good at a while back. As long as we never lost sight of the topic we were pretty good at doing that though maybe all would not agree.

I had mine popped at 450, boy are they strong now. Cant keep the fuel in my lines.

I also have 3 more Blue Moons in the cooler. They pop but not sure of the pressure on them. One pop and they are done.

We'll, took the truck back out and got it all warmed up and here are my numbers...

 

 

It's running good so I'm happy with it.  My numbers are better.  I think it was 930ish and load of 2-3 before the injectors were installed.

Weird... Idle should be 800 RPM period. I wonder if the crank sensor on your truck is tired? Any other error codes? (If any).The only time this is above 800 RPM is when the APPS switches to THROTTLING then the idle software is shut off. This would cause the high idle. 

 

I've got to ask again another weird one Stock APPS of Timbo's APPS? A bad APPS with the throttle line still grounded would make it idle high and low engine load. Could be a possible an error code for APPS possibly? This is common for someone that has tapered with the voltage. I would replace the APPS with a Timbo APPS but that's me.

I'm wondering if that's the cause of my high idle as well. I installed a wells apps last year and it has idled around 860rpms ever since. Checked the voltage at 0.56v when I installed, but I probably should check it again. 

DAP injectors only have 15k miles on them, so was hard to believe that they would loose pop that fast. Engine load jumps around from 2-6% at warm idle.
