Tire Air Pressure

If I step up to 285/75r16 tires in load range E what tire pressure should I be running. I know alot of you guys probably have this size.Thanks

E tires seem to all be 80psi. I usually run that in the front to support the cummins. In the back, pretty well anything 50psi and above is fine.

I have those tires and I run about 70psi in the front and anywhere between 50-80 psi in the back, depending if I have a load/trailer or not.

Mine have like 52 psi in the front and 50 in the rear if I remember correctly. Mine are 315s and E range.:thumb1:

I believe that the side walls on these tires say 65 max psi cold? So how could I run up to 80 psi?:shrug:

I would look at them a little closer. They should be 80psi. To be load range E they pretty much have to be 80psi max, you can't support load range E weight if they can't hold that much pressure. From what I am seeing, Load range E is 80psi, D is 65, C is 50. It should say load range on the side, maybe yours says D.

Yeah the ones I just got say load range D.:doh: 65 psi max I odn't tow that heavy so I should be ok with these

mine are also load range D but i run mine around 40 psi just for a little better ride. my:2cents:

I've ran as low as...

[*]50 PSI front

[*]40 PSI rear

And run as high as...

[*]70 PSI front

[*]60 PSI rear

I'm finding yes the lower number do produce a nicer ride but at a cost of 1-2 MPGs... But the high pressures do perform better MPG wise but does produce a very stiff ride.

Like when I'm wood hauling I aim for a high tire pressure... But if I'm going to be the Cummins Skidder for a day I'll reduce my tire pressures for a better bite in the ground for pulling. This also works for snow and sand.

Mine say Load Range E max single weight of 3860 lbs at 65 psi. They are Fierce Attitude MTs in 315/75R16.:shrug:

My Yokohama Geolander ATs drive like a dream at 65# all around. They wander all over the place at 80psi. It is so bad that driving is dangerous. So...anyone with wander, try dropping tire pressure first. 80 is above specs anyway.

When I had my '99, I kept 70psi in the fronts and rears on the OEM LT245/75 16E Michelins and the Cooper Discoverer AT's in LT265/75 16E's. Then, as now, I usually have a trailer of some kind in tow and don't like airing up and down all the time.With the tight/heavy suspension on these trucks, I think it rides better with "hard" tires.

I'm running 275/75's "E" Range Michelins and I was told by America's Tire to run them at 60psi front and rear. Seems that any lower I have wandering problems. When I put the 9.5' camper on I jump the rears to 80 psi and the front to 70 psi. Plus pump up the air-bags to at least 80psi.I think they run longer a bit harder. Maybe it makes the ride harder but tires last longer. Same for the family car too. Tire shops say 32psi in the car tires so I need to come in more often for new tires...:nono: Just my opinion.
