What'd be the better way to go with track bar replacement on my 00 3/4 ton? I've gotta change mine. Should I go with the Moog? One of the kits to use the '03 model? Or one of the adjustable ones from Dss or solid steel biz? Just thought I'd throw it out to the bboard. Thanks in advance for any feedback. Dave

I went with a MOOG unit from Rock Auto (DS1413) for $107. The ball joint head is a good 40% larger than the OE unit (guessing the percentage.) But, it was definitely more heavy duty. I wish I'd weighed the two, as there was a decent amount more weight in the MOOG piece, as well. I've considered the links (above) for the tie rod ends, but ultimately went with MOOG replacements. Ball joints are next...:banghead:

I went with Thuren. It is adjustable and rebuildable. Give Don a call. He makes good products & has a lot of suspension & front end knowledge.

I did a 3rd gen upgrade, but to try it again would go with lukes links on one end and energy suspension bushings on the axle end. Over the years I have gone through a pile of moogs also and they last no longer than the factory ones.:2cents:

Thanks guys for all the feedback.

The 3rd gen upgrade is the way to go IMHO. You don't have a "ball joint" on one end to wear out. The 3rd gen have two bushings, and if you get the urethane bushings, they are essentially bullet proof.

Was thinking this may be the way i go next time too. On my third lifteime warranty one from Moog, and I also kind of wonder if the third generation one may make the front end feel a bit tighter:shrug:

Hey guys I manage a NAPA and our better track bar#272-4229 is a great bar lifetime warranty they say it is a solid spherical bearing not a gusher bearing like moog and we dont have many warrantys not saying the others are bad but NAPA's are usally right around the corner no shipping I think the $ is around $200 give or take.

I just put a moog track bar and a the rod end that comes off steering box and i can tell a HUGE difference in drive-ability, Also much larger than stock.

ok who has a link or info on swapping the 3rd gen track bar into our 2nd gens???
