Posted December 7, 201113 yr Does anyone know wher you can find a list of bosch certified vp44 rebuilders? just curiosity.
December 7, 201113 yr Owner Make sure they have a in house VP44 test bench if they got to mail it out they are most likely not a VP44 rebuilder just a vendor. But I would like to know who is a actually rebuilder...
December 7, 201113 yr Author that was the purpose of the question. i know lots of people sell them, i was wondering who builds them. seems like there ought to be list or whatever of cerified rebuilders.

Don't know if this is close or will help, but Bosch has service centers in the US. Here's the site to see who is in your area. http://www.boschservice.com/FindSvcCenter/Pages/FindingaServiceCenter.aspx
December 7, 201113 yr Author thanks. i am not really looking for a service center for repairs. since there are so many people selling vp44's with differant claims of quality, it made me curious of how many people actually do the rebuilds. like me i bought mine from Blue Chip Diesel. i paid a pretty good premium for that pump. i emailed Chip today and he told me that he has two outside companies that build his pumps according to his specs. he did not know of a list of certified rebuilders. either he could not or would not tell me. i did not push the issue, just thought i would keep looking and see what happens.
December 7, 201113 yr Owner Chip today and he told me that he has two outside companies that build his pumps according to his specs. Ah! So Blue Chip doesn't build any pumps... So he doesn't have the in house Bosch VP44 injection pump test bench for sure... Keep them coming... We'll figure out who actually builds pumps...
December 8, 201113 yr Author Ah! So Blue Chip doesn't build any pumps... So he doesn't have the in house Bosch VP44 injection pump test bench for sure...<br> <br> Keep them coming... We'll figure out who actually builds pumps... <img class="inlineimg" title="Thumb Up" border="0" alt="" src="/images/smilies/fing02.gif" smilieid="111"><br><br>When i bought mine i assumed they built there own. As i have said before ignorance is bliss. Chip told me out right he does not build them, but has 2 outside rebuilders doing it to his specs. We do that in my line of work also to keep prices in check. All of us see it when buying many things that we buy that are sold under one brand but manufactured by someone else and repackaged. Chip also said that he did not want one of the pos machines to do it with nor did he think Bosch would let him have one due to his opinions. I am not gonna touch that one.<br>Anyway, could list a Bosch certified rebuilders be that hard to find, or iis it a proprietary secret?<br> <br>
December 8, 201113 yr When I had to replaced my VP44 I purchased it from Oregon Injection. http://www.o-f-i.com/index.php?page=sec/exchange_pumps_injectors.htm Their web site says the following: "Oregon Fuel Injection's commitment to the diesel fuel injection industry has resulted in us purchasing the equipment and parts, and training the technicians to repair and calibrate the Robert Bosch VP44 diesel fuel injection pumps. Oregon Fuel Injection’s rebuilt pumps and injectors are done in the USA . We are a factory authorized service dealer for Bosch, Stanadyne, Delphi, Denso, Zexel, Ambac, and Yanmar. We use the latest tools and information provided to us by the original equipment manufacturer. If there is an update to a pump to improve longevity – WE DO IT! If there is an update to reduce surging, stalling, hard starting, low power, etc. – WE DO IT! When a pump leaves our facilities, we want it to be better than original. Oregon Fuel Injection has been doing Factory Authorized diesel fuel injection service for over 35 years. We have been a member of ADS (Association of Diesel Specialists) for over 35 years and employ ADS Tech Certified Technicians." I haven't called them to verify what this means but it sounds like they do the pumps themselves and have to equipment to calibrate. If this is important to you then a phone call can quickly verify.

If this is important to you then a phone call can quickly verify. i am not really looking for a pump. the one i bought from blue chip is doing just fine. i was impressed with what he said they did for a rebuild. new computer, new housing, and some of the internal stur also. my main curiosity is who and how many whos actully build them for all of the dealers.
December 8, 201113 yr In the midwest Diesel Specialties is a Bosch rebuilder, only two locations Omaha NE,Sioux City IA. Bought My reman VP44 at 388k,still going strong.
December 8, 201113 yr through reading, the common fail points on the vp is the piston b ore that is made of aluminum and the piston is steel. the bore will wear and pressure will leak past the piston. the other is some vp's come rebuilt with used computers, they have heat cycles on them and are prone to failure prematurely compared to new computers. I will only buy a vp with a new cpu and all the upgraded parts.
January 12, 201213 yr Would be good to find a rebuilder and then ask them who they recommend to get a pump through. Since it seems they rebuild to different specs for their cusstomers.
January 12, 201213 yr Owner Basically it comes do to makeing phone calls and verifying if the VP44 shop has a VP44 injection pump test bench in shop or do they have to ship it else where to have the final bench work done. It just a matter of a phone call.Lots of injection pump shop out there but only a small handful actual have the test bench... So if people were to report back who has and who hasn't got a bench we can weed out the middle man and get right to the "Main Man"...
January 12, 201213 yr The Bosch test bench is an "815" Midwest Fuel injectionIndustrialO-F-IBD/Valley Fuelall have these as far as I know. Most of the above have 2 or more test stands. I get my VP44's from Midwest on most occasions. Sold over 200 last year. I do a good volume so I can keep the price down. There are a few smaller shops that have them and I am sure I am missing many shop over on the east coast. Truly it is not a common test stand to have as they are like $250,000
January 12, 201213 yr Author Do they build them to set specifacation or do you help them set what gets done or not. I seem to remember you saying that you offered pumps with and without new computers. Just curious of what gets done on a rebuild.
January 12, 201213 yr Owner I desided to sticky the thread and would like to thank Diesel Auto Power for the information... I would love to get a more detailed listing if there are more shops with the Vp44 test bench.
January 12, 201213 yr Popular Post the 815 bench calibrates the pumps to have the same specifications for the part #. It takes about 2 hours on the test stand to go through many parameters. If a pump was "hot" to start with it will be de-rated. If a pump is lower on power it will be uprated. Many of the parts are re-used. I have been told that my supplier uses new PSG/computers. I have been told by other rebuilders that the HOTROD pumps are a HO head and that by using NEW head they can flow 5% more than a used head. The heads are expensive that is why if one has a siezed core only a partial credit can be given and one reason why some HOTROD pumps flow more than others.
