Should I go organics so that I don't wear down the discs? Wear the pad down, not the rotors? is what I'm thinking.

Cheaper the better. The more money or expensive the more metallics they add to the pads or shoes. I buy the absolute cheapest. I don't get wrapped up in hype of brand names or anything. I look at this way Dodge got the lowest bidder tof brake pads who ever they were and mine lasted 185K miles with a exhaust brake. Only needed a light rotor turn to bring them back to true. So around 370K miles I'll do it again.

I used a metalic pad this last time and you can really see the wear on the rotors. Might get rid of them if I can find the time.

i use everwear brand from advance auto, cheap and last a good amount. rotor wear is minimal and no gouging

If you want to extend it to the max. Then get a exhaust brake and get 10x as much brake pad life.

I actually went with the most expensive about 2 years ago.I had the thought of more metallic, better stopping power, less heat build up... but I may be way off in that idea Lasting well, no warped rotors, no regrets yet

That's easy don't use your service brakes and have a exhaust brake then you don't have brake dust on your wheels nor do you need to change brake pads...

I like brake dust. Tells me when to wersh the truck. Besides only a dirty truck can attract the right girlfriends, keep the wrong kind away:nono:.Called natural selection brake pads

One thing to keep in mind is there is a trade off of sorts with brake pads. The "cheaper" pads will not last as long as the expensive ones, BUT with the harder the pads the more the rotors wear.

Tom, That is my thought too... to have less rotor wear as they are getting expensive. With me having a clean driving record I don't speed so I'm not hard on brakes.
