How do you enable/add central locking to a 2nd gen that didnt come from factory ?

Central locking? like a differential locker?

Are you talking about the CAD "Central axle disconnect" on the front axle? If you have one without it I would consider yourself lucky and not want to add it.:shrug:You would have to swap out the whole front axle and then add a manual disconnect cable versus adding all the vacuum apparatus.

I have seen complete kits before for adding key less entry. I would be surprised if the truck came with all but the fob.

Ahh! Right... I did not even catch that, haha. I've never heard of these trucks coming with a keyless entry system. You would have to buy an aftermarket kit. It will come with the actuators, brain, remote, etc. Usually around $150, IIRC.

I believe it became an option for the 00 and up trucks. At least my former 00 had one...It would be very nice to have one on my 98 but I think your right John you would have to have a receiver that is integrated into the vehicle to be able to control the locks and alarm and such. JR

My 99 2500 V10 had factory OEM remote keyless entry / alarm system in it.

My 02 didnt have keyless but my 01 does. I cant remember exactly what is needed but it would need the keyless entry module and fobs

My 02 came with the keyless entry as an option.

My 01.5 has it. Sure it was an extra cost option.

My 1990 GMC has an after market alarm with Keyless entry, Motion Sensors (in case I want to leave the windows down and still have the alarm armed and ready), Starter kill and if it was an automatic...remote start

Might need to find a keyless alarm and entry system .........

My truck has a KARR system. Not great, but not bad either.

I used to borrow a friends 1997 ram and it had the stock keyless entry set up. My 01 doesnt have it though I do have electric locks.
