These were somewhat simple to build and didn't cost that much, mainly time. Main brackets that bolt to the frame are one piece and go all the way through bumper, that way you don't have to rely on how good your welder is. I ended up making main brackets out of 1/2" because that's what I had laying around. Front bumper is 1/4" except very bottom where its 3/16. Rear bumper is 4x8x1/4" tube. I don't have measurements,  because I just built them as I went, most of it is eye baled and within 1/8" of side to side front to back. I didn't want winches permanently mounted anywhere that is why I put receiver in front and its tucked in so when walking by you don't hit your knee on it, same with front pull points. Also the reason receiver in front is lower and so are tow points is because they line up with frame, that way when you pull on them it wont try to flex frame too much. I didn't put receiver on rear bumper because the one on the truck is much better and held on to frame much stronger. I don't have many pictures of rear but it's pretty straight forward, just notch it how you like it.

Forgot about a small thing I added to my front bumper. 2 brackets that hold bottom of my aluminum front winter shield on.

Thanks, just an acetylene torch and straight edge.

Very impressive for a do-it-yourself bumper!! Looks real good!! I really want to do a set for mine too but I am going to have to get friendly with someone who has the right tools/equipment to do such a job.

Overall how much time do you think you had into it?

when you building me one? for my 04

With getting steel, wire, gas and time in garage plus paint, probably 25 hours on front and 15 on rear. But if I did it again which I hope not for a while, thinking I can almost cut time in half. Biggest fight was my wife, that I don't spend time in hose but rather in garage. :) but that's expected and perfectly normal.

I seem to have more time than money so waisting time vs buying one is fine with me, plus I know how it's built and also the way I want it.

Couple people I know in town said same thing, but unfortunately I just don't have time anymore, building mine got me in enough trouble. :)

whatcha  think it's  up to now for   weight?

First time  I had  the oem off   to knock some   dents out..  my son came over and  just  stomped it with his foot and  the  dent  came out perfectly!

I'm guessing fron is about 200lb and rear about 160-180 all I know is its heavy.

I would like to do a rear bumper that looks similar to yours but with a bit of built in storage for chains and what not, nothing big, just different. I saw a post over on the CF of a badass rear built this way, looked good, and was functional.

Looks great. I'd love to do one for mine sometime. Just kinda short on time right now. It would be neat if someone would come up with blueprints for some of these bumpers. That would save a lot of time in trail & error. You could sell them for a few bucks and recoup the price of your own bumper.

one of the reasons I did it in one piece is I'm planning on using it as an air tank, and someday will put a small air pump under bed, that way when i get air bags and just lowering air pressure in tires for off road use i can always air them back up when driving on hwy again. As of now I have a small air leak I need to trace down, it holds air for most of the day at 120psi but next day it's down to 90 in 3 days it's to 50. It's still usable the way it is.

I ended up selling both of my old bumpers for 170 so it paid for the steel and some, there are sites on line that actually give you all dimensions of their bumpers but i wanted mine a certain way. So I basically combined some ideas with mine. And mos of them are 3/16 I like 1/4

Holy Cow. I would love to have a set for my truck. Nicely done bumpers!

Thanks Mike, took a little bit of effort but it's done and something telling me they will outlast the truck. :)

Do you happen to know any of those sites? I looked before and could not find anything. I'd like to check them out.

No I don't, all I did when researching is googled bumper built and then spent some time browsing through, but I know for sure that I came across a couple with detailed measurements and stiles.

Buck stop are 1/4", but you're looking at $2,000+. In my mind 3/16 is probably adequate. Got my front from CPP for $499 shipped. They sell rears too. For a guy who doesn't have a bunch of steel laying around, it's a pretty good price. But please wait for them to become a vendor to support them. Look to DAP or vulcan.

That bumper is sweet! I have a cnc plasma available to me and I'm not sure I could make it that nice- well done df.

We'll thank you but it only looks that nice in pictures, up close I barely had time to grind some edges flat, but I like the rugged look. Really with straight edge you can make pretty straight cuts with torch. The only negative thing about it is things can warp, that's where plasma would be sweet. Actually when I notched my rear bumper for license plate it bowed in middle where ends of bumper slightly came up, If I put my long level end to end there will be gap of 1/2" or so in middle. But after looking at it I noticed that when tailgate open it perfectly matches that curve, so I left it alone.
