Well I've made it home for the summer and it's time to start tearing this thing apart. I will begin tomorrow, but yesterday I took it to the dyno. Laid down 503 / 1215. I was very pleased with the numbers, but the knocking is getting worse to it's time to take it apart.

Looking good! I'm hoping to check it out towards the end of the month when I drive back up

Did you do the bed liner? It looks great. Been thinking about doing something like that to my stock bumper.

Thanks for the link. Will maybe do this when weather warms up.

Picked up the bumper the other night

Started working on the coolant line that goes to the heater core. It had 5 or 6 zip ties holding it in place, and that's not how I want the truck held together, so things had to be re-done.

Ended up removing the intake, intermediate pipe, and taking the cartridge out of the secondary.... all to get the line out.

It was actually easier than expected. I just ran a longer hose straight up, and put a longer, straight hose coming off of the heater core. I also welded a tab onto the metal pipe to secure it to a manifold bolt.

Got some work done on the bumper too. The two fogs are wired in using waterproof plugs. They're wired into the stock fog light switch, and they draw less amperage than a regular bulb. I've still got to wire in the light bar, make a mount for the switch, and make a mount for the MPG fooler. I think it's looking pretty good though.

Here's a couple more pictures.  Headlights, headlights and fogs, headlights fogs and light bar.

Finally got the fender liners cut. I'll throw up a better pic when it's washed.

That looks great.  I would love to build something like that for my truck.  Only a dream for now.

I finally got a DP gauge installed and am not experienced in this area. As you'll see in my sig, I've got tight housings and small wheels on both turbos to keep fast spool (elevation banghead.gif) I expected a very high ratio, but it isn't as bad as I thought. So onto the results.....

Smarty only on level 1
Boost: 50overall didn't look at primary DP 60
Opened the gate wide open
Boost: 42overall primary at 25 DP 55

The next test was a bit more difficult because I kept breaking the tires loose in 4th on dry pavement and didn't want to be doing 90+ in 5th.
TST on 7 smarty on 1
Boost: 70overall didn't look at primary DP 90
Opened the gate wide open
Boost: 62overall primary at 35 DP 80

So, given that what do you guys think??

I will say EGT's are sky high with the TST on and the exhaust is less than clear. The gate on the secondary could be opening early as well because the gate is set to open at 25ish on shop air. (meaning drive pressure might be opening it) The secondary's gate doesn't seem to be an issue though.

Discuss......

I am not experienced either... But, from what I can recall of the theory, the idea is that you want the least turbine outlet temperature for the given amount of fuel.  That should give you the most energy returned to the inlet side of the ic engine.

In my experience playing with the TST interaction with the smarty, I really don't like the smarty on 1.  I don't think it drives nearly as smooth as a smarty on 3/5.  I am not sure that the smarty's timing family of curves are the same for 1 as they are for the higher numbers.

Good luck, and I am looking for an S400 + piping to do what you've done... Although I kinda want to buy a new cam.

Unless you're above 25-2800 all the time, I don't think the cam is worth all the hype. That's a lot of work and money that can go elsewhere.

I run the smarty on 1 because it's the least smokey and my mileage is the best. These injectors are HUGE, but I can definitely try different settings for the heck of it. Might even start looking for a TS MVP as it's one of the few I haven't run. Really wish I still had the power puck though :shifty:

What are you looking for s400 wise? I'm assuming a 75, but what about the exhaust side?  I MIGHT start looking for a larger primary, but I'd like to set it on the dyno first.

I don't know anything about twins.  I am assuming I would want one of the smaller ones.  I want spool and smoke elimination while enhancing overall performance.  I don't need more power or want to buy a smaller turbo, but I want fast spool for the altitude.

I am interested though, especially if you would give me some tips on install.

Smaller wheels and tighter housings give better spool. Here's the 75 I have. If you call them you can talk them down too! I forgot what I paid but it wasn't as much as the link provided.

Heck I'll help you install if you want. Just buy them while you're out here! If not, you can always call me or text me.

How much lower did the twins get measurable boost compared to the lone 62/12?

What do you mean?? I'm not sure what you're asking

How much faster did the twins spool off idle compared to the single?  I am thinking of off reducing off the line smoke without driving like grandpa.
