  1. 200mA, or .2A is all it takes to trigger a standard (i.e. Bosch) relay. ;)
  2. Wasn't sure... But I was looking at the 02 listed in the signature so I was wonder was it a typo or a misplaced thread? Yes a 1st Gen should be a copper/brass radiator so yes you could have it rodded out and soldered up.
  3. The 5600 is not an easy transmission to rebuild. The entire gear cluster is assembled outside the case and then dropped in. This requires dealing with holding fixtures and weight while you maneuver the gear cluster. The most important aspect of rebuilding the 5600 is having the use of a 50 ton hydraulic press, a 20 ton won't come close.Issue 64-May/June/July/ 2009 of the TDR magazine has a excellent wrie up about rebuilding the NV5600With regards to shift quality and such, are you running 6 quarts instead of the recommended fill? The overfill of lubricant takes care of an under oiling problem with the rear bearing and 6th gear cluster. My 02 is presently sitting at 255,000 miles, most of them towing, and the 5600 is flawless in shifting. Regular oil changes, myself using Amsoil MTF have resulted in no appreciable wear in the last 10 years.Temperature monitoring also plays a big part in the 5600's life. Running in 6th gear loaded or empty is actually hotter than running in 5th. I have had temps as high as 240 degrees towing in 6th on flat ground, but down shifting to 5th even for a short time will drop the temps 20 - 30 degrees.Hope it helpsJeff
  4. I bought the raptor for $284.00 ? it is adjustable. Mounted it on frame. Cut line and moved it forward to connect the banjo that used to connect to the pump inlet is now connected to the filter inlet. Didn't buy a kit. Extended wire harness and connected to fuel lines with 3/8 flex fuel line and hose clamps. In and out holes on raptor are #12 O-ring boss. Bought those fittings and barb 3/8 at a hyd. hose supply in town. Adj to 18# idle 12# max fuel.
  5. You on the right track. But I would highly suggest you do a Vulcan Big Line Kit and not use the facory plumbing with FASS DDRP pump it will perform better with 1/2" plumbing.
  6. 1 point
Press the pedal down until it gets to that hard spot (only takes like 1/2") and let off when it starts. I bet it will start instantaneously. Common issue, some do it, some don't, nobody knows why.
  7. You mean the shield ground? The black braided cable that goes from the PCM case to the firewall? This doesn't make connection with the harness though.
  8. I have found a lot of books so I gotta go in and check them out but I found another PDF on the differences between ULSD (they call it BP15) and biodiesel of different vegetable oil ratios. This one is very interesting as most of the test was on a 235HP 24V. It's not the newer common rail, it says its standard HP is 235 and the CR's started at 305 so it's a VP44 engine they are testing and the shots inside the combustion chamber were on the cummins as well, so 828945.pdf
  9. I just got schooled on how to do all the library research crap at college and of course I went after diesel topics while I'm on break (now) and I just found something incredible that answers a LOT of problems that most of us don't have the means to prove/disprove. It is a PDF and I think it is public, guess I'll find out when I go to jail. I'm pretty sure its a publication on the internet but I can never find stuff like that through google. Anyways, there will be questions about all the acronyms and I already spent a while finding them all so I'll make your alls life easy lol. IMEP--Indicated Mean Effective Pressure: Basically the compression pressure of an engine. MFB50--Mass Fraction Burnt 50%: When half of the fuel has been phase changed (into heat), so basically the point of combustion. I assume they average the start and end points of fuel combustion so they have a single "point" of combustion since the process of the fuel combusting is not a point but rather a range.. I think this is all of them. The file is a PDF meaning you need abobe reader to open it. EDIT: I just noticed a lot of definitions are at the very bottom of the file, so scroll to the bottom of it for stuff I mighta missed. Between that and what I posted under here, you should be all filled in. CRC [Fuels]--:is a company HCCI--Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition: Fancy term for a diesel engine, or the diesel principle rather. ISFC--Indicated Specific Fuel Consumption: Measure of fuel rate. NOx--Nitrogen Oxide: Pollutant that emissions try and control. HC--HydroCarbons: Another emissions pollutant. CO--Carbon Monoxide: Another emissions pollutant. Aromatic%--: I think this has to do with emissions from the exhaust, maybe soot levels. Lambda--: Air to Fuel Ratio T90--: Temperature where 90% of the fuel volume evaporates. This means T50 is when 50% evaporates.. Pub15621.pdf
