  1. Kinda like this video? There is a stab, a slight loss of power, a terrible grunting, their timing IS WAY OFF, and then the power comes on instantly......... Sorry I just couldn't help myself................or pass this up. I had to beat Dorkweed to the punch here! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqjtz3rEPG0 I need to find a job with the main stream media seeing how I can take one story and twist it into something it isn't. Hey I hear there is an opening being vacated by piers Morgan.

Here you go. Main Levels This is how much maximum fuel and timing given. 1 - 40 HP 2 - 60 HP 3 - 80 HP 4 - 100 HP 5 - 120 HP Sublevels This is how fast your going to get the fuel and timing in relationship to boost. 1 - 33% of stock fuel till 20 PSI of boost 2 - 50% of stock fuel till 15 PSI of boost 3 - 67% of stock fuel till 10 PSI of boost 4 - Some extra fuel at 0 PSI of boost 5 - Full fuel at 0 PSI of boost 1-3 are de-fuel setting for controlling smoke. 4-5 are power modes.
  3. DAP is a reputable dealer. I know one of their injection pump suppliers is industrial injection. The computers on top are new. The online vendor sounds like Blue Chip?? FYI I went through 2 Blue Chip pumps in less than a month. I now have an industrial injection that I am more than pleased with. Long story short, call DAP and get an injection pump lift pump combo. You won't be disappointed with service or quality

Update on the heater core. Pulled it out this weekend and replaced it - not too bad of a job. Actually much easier than I thought, & Mike's article/video helped out. Replacing the dash sucks. The little screws for the vents were a pia, but the dash looks nice and my heater blows nice and hot now. Next up is the oil leak - maybe next week or the week after?

It's not just Over the road truckers that have to follow the rules, all of our vender service Technicians who work out of a service truck in the field have to keep log books now too and can't run too much over 12 hour days travel included and IIRC 60 hour weeks and then need like 36 consecutive hours off before returning to work, not sure on the exact numbers.
  6. My pump has been on for 2 and 1/2 months now. Not very long, but with 2 stroke and a good lift pump I plan on a long life out of this pump. I take this truck to the middle of no where snowmobiling, so I have to have reliablility. I've had no issues starting it in -15deg F when snowmobiling. Industrial makes quality products and DAP only sells quality products. You won't be disappointed!
  7. Michael... We need a "Members Trailers" forum in the Community area. This forum is great for mods and working, but it would be fun to have a forum like the members rides for trailers/RV's.
  8. Well the error code P1688 isn't good the VP44 is indeed shot. But why would you hassle with unknown shop I know DAP sell lift pump and VP44 combo packages for under $1,000... Even better yet its a FASS lift pump. http://www.dieselautopower.com/product-p/vp44-combo-fass.htm
  9. I will be starting on a new project soon As you can see it needs some TLC in the rear corner but the rest of the rig is awesome
  10. Thank You, a rebuilder in Oakland CA, requires the lift pump to be changed also; however if you already have the retrofit pump in the tank, they will give the 12 month warrenty.
  11. #1. I am not sure which article you were reading, but keeping the pressure between 14 and 20 is safe level to run. This insures adequate fuel for cooling and lubricating the VP. the 1688 code is for the computer, FPCM, on the VP. Maintaining the pressure above 14 will keep the most fuel circulating thru the VP. I personally run mine at 19 at Idle and it drops to near 16 at WOT. A fuel pressure gauge is recommended to monitor the pressure so you know when there is a problem. Low pressure puts a lot of wear on the VP. #2. Your pump will run when cranking. The ECM will cycle it on and off during cranking reducing the pressure by about 50%. After cranking the lift pump will run constantly. #3. The 1688 code is for failure of the FPCM on the VP. You might clear the codes, clean up the connector on the pump, and try starting it again, If the code comes back or it wont run the VP is shot. And yes a pump can fail at any time. The in tank pump is the likely culprit. My guess would be under WOT your pressure is near 0. I had one in mine and had trouble with it less than 6 months later. They are no better than the OE pump on the engine. As stated before, you really need a fuel pressure gauge.
  12. Mine runs around 1/2 normal psi while cranking. Mopar Man has a video showing how his pump does push fuel while cranking.
