  1. Maybe just a cheap harbor freight press.
  2. Can the bearings be lubricated?
  3. Ok, is this everything that would be done on a rebuilt alternator from the store? Got to be some bearings in there to replace.
  4. Is there an easy way to tell which one you have? Does changing out the diode bridge take care of a/c noise?
  5. My alternator output is less when warm out than when cold. Now it’s putting out 14.3 on average. When it’s hot it’s more like 13.7. Is this an indication of trouble ahead?
  6. Recent divorce and that was my second. Never married a Christian gal before. I met a Christian gal recently. Boy what a journey I am on! I believe God has me on a path to a biblical relationship. I’m telling her things I’ve never shared about myself before. Grace is an amazing thing! God being in control lifts a ton of worry off my shoulders! Being able to share information and feelings without fear of disappointment condemnation is wonderful. I was trying to stay married and as a Christian there was no biblical reason to divorce a non believer. But finally she initiated the divorce and under that circumstance I am able to grant it. Bible says if an unbeliever asks for a divorce that we can do it. I believe that God did this. He has set me on a path towards a biblical marriage. Probably the biggest personal testmony I’ve ever had. So many changes in me. Sinful things dropping away. More changes than when I received Christ and was baptized. I don’t have near the possessions that I previously had, but the Bible speaks to that as well. I’m gone from a 4 bedroom 3 bath house with a 24x36’ shop full of stuff Into a 38’ 5th wheel. But I am happier now than I was with all my stuff.
  7. I’ve been getting 20-21 mpg with country driving short distances. Immediately following a fill up and freeway drive it was 24 mpg. No troubles yet. One quart of oil and gas is all I’ve put into it. Got all the car fax maintenance records. New brakes, real axle seal done recently. Very pleased with performance and economy so far.
  8. Well, this is weird. This is what I got when I posted my photo.
  9. My real estate career is taking off. Decided to get a more appropriate vehicle for driving for real estate sales. I was driving a lot of miles on the diesel truck. So I got a Dodge Magnum R/T 2005. Has the Hemi in it. I'll get a pic up soon. But it's kind of a sleeper rig. 345 hp. Very comfortable. 5 speed automatic transmission. A lot more creature comforts than I am used to. After a week I am really pleased with it. Getting over 20 mpg average combined city/hiway driving. Has that system that cuts down to 4 cylinders when cruising. Still figuring out all the features. Dual exhaust...has a bit of a rumble to it. Wouldn't mind a bit more. ?
  10. Been living in the trailer for 2 weeks now. Working out the kinks. Right now it's A/C. Heat of day it's cutting in and out. Once 6 pm or so and it works fine. It is 104 here today. ?
  11. Since I blew my serp belt I've noticed I'm dripping some oil spots. Maybe the overheated situation caused some kind of change to the gaskets? Any ideas?
  12. All hydraulic slides, electric jacks, electric awning. More pics... More pics...
  13. Here are some pics. This one is a stock photo...not mine but same model. It is NOT open concept. I wanted separation between living room and kitchen. Most units it feels like you're living in the kitchen. Also no bunk area to eat up living space. Only a hide a bed in living room. Even with sliding doors in the open position it feels good in the living room. Has white and black shades for each window. So you can get privacy or darkening as you desire.
  14. Roof has been inspected and sealed where necessary. Slides all have awning type covers on them. Sewer system is in a hatch. All weather resistant.
  15. I ended up buying a 2007 Montana 3500rl 5th wheel. It's really nice and seems like something I can live in without feeling too much like trailer trash. Lol. $26,000. It's totally cherry. Has like 200 miles on it and has been thoroughly gone through by a retired RV guy doing it as a sideline. It weighs about 10k empty. Not sure my truck is up to the task, but it's only going 30 miles and being parked. NADA is $29,000 and change. Big features are 4 slides, living room that has sliding doors to close it off, cold weather package, nice free standing oak dining table and chairs, desk in living room for computer. Living expenses will will be pretty low. Renting an apartment around here is a minimum of $1,000 per month. I have a place to park here in my hometown. Just kick them some money for utilities. If I wear out my welcome there, I know others. May be a semi long term solution.
  16. Ok, it's all fixed. The bolt sheared off on both ends and was only about 1.5" long. Nut end and bolt end gone. It was an easy fix. Still stumped about how this happened. Oh well.
  17. There's no nut on the back, but I'll try to drive out the bolt. That'd be SWEET! Maybe I can get by with a plain threaded (unshouldered) bolt and nut temporarily until I can get a factory replacement. ?
  18. Had a catastrophic failure today and had to get the truck towed home. I thought it was a simple serp belt failure. But after tensioning the new belt the alternator was cock eyed. Upon further inspection the lower alternator bolt sheared off clean at the mount. Which is also the lower cooling adapter for the lower hose and bypass. It's a $275 part. So I plan to remove it and work to get the bolt out. Are there any words of wisdom in taking this project on? I know I'm going to loose all the coolant. Weird problem. Bolt is broken off flush with the mount. looks like it takes an O ring to seal around the lower hose inlet part of the assembly. Is there anything gasket below on the flat part that bolts to the block?
  19. In oregon they are already warning people of huge traffic jams...over a million cars expected on the roads that day and days around. Reports of gouging at motels...Cancelling current long standing reservations in hopes of more expensive future reservations. That's capitalism for ya. Probably robot maids too and kiosks to check in. ?
  20. Looked up and it's a water temperature sensor code. Popped the hood and the red wire on the high idle connection at the thermostat broke off at the connector. Don't worry, it's an old unit from Yankneck. I unplugged it and plugged the original connection back and the check gauges light is out, but the code won't clear. Maybe need to disconnect at the back of the head too...the one I can't reach myself. Need a gal or a guy with feminine hands.
  21. Looks a lot easier than doing the manual cable mod. Looks like a good article!!! Maybe we could sell a kit.
  22. Is there a style RV construction that's more better...bad grammar, but serious question. Wood vs aluminum frame. Fiberglass vs aluminum skin. Molded nose and roof that seams further away from corners???
  23. How big of a solar/battery system would I need to be off grid full time? I want to be able to use a flat screen TV and computer daily. Biggest power consumption would be furnace. Bet I couldn't use microwave or air conditioner though?
