  1. We'll find a spot for you to sleep. There is always my dinette sleeper. Snoring may limit your sleep though. I also require a pan under my pillow to catch all the drool.? I could bring a cot. They work great under the awning! Even if it rains. So...what are the dates of arrival and departure for you guys. Looks like the eclipse day is on Monday. I realize it's a long way off. But I'd probably come over traveling Saturday. Departure back home is open to negotiation and how much fun we're having and how many mod's we get into on the trucks. ?
  2. That's why they call it a tooth brush. Eskimos invernted it.
  3. Just put a big a$$ trailer behind your truck and no leveling will be needed. The older I get the less I like jacked up rigs. Lots of downside.
  4. I'll start with a coolant system pressure test. Then clean radiator and flush engine. Anything recommend for flushing inside of radiator?
  5. Yeah, I want to pull it out. Old puke bottle made a mess of it. Did the breather mod, so no more spilled oil. The old puke bottle had holes in it...so anything that puked went straight to the radiator and engine and ground. Before I did the mod, I was loosing like a quart every few weeks. Now I never need to add oil between changes...except when I change the Frantz filter.
  6. It's over a year away...I don't know...Beavercreek Store. Lol. Hope you don't mind going 55 mph. Better economy. I need to clean my radiator too. Cabbage Hill might overheat me.
  7. Thats awesome! Mike, I'll caravan over with you.
  8. Even if you tow...a lot depends on your driving habits. Going 65 mph up a 15% slope with a 5th wheel is different than getting down in a lower gear and keeping your rpms up. And going 45. Keep her at 2,200 rpms. Not lugging in overdrive. When I tow my heaviest loads I gear down and run at 2,200 or so.
  9. Yeah, we have a plan and should probably stick to it. I have no AC but the awning will provide daytime shade. It'll be good. Maybe it will be unseasonably cool for us?
  10. I'd recommend upgrading the throw out bearing. Just to avoid removal again if it fails...anything with bearings...go USA made.
  11. Do you have any boondock areas or are we trying to accommodate those who want full hook up?
  12. The eclipse is a short term thing. We could do a day trip to get into position and camp close by in a good boondock spot. Mayflies probably not so bad later in the year.
  13. Sleep under Mikes trailer.
  14. Awning gives you shade. How are the bugs there?
  15. Everything tastes like chicken it seems. Why not just eat chicken then? Cougar tastes like pork, but much tougher. I'd recommend pork.
  16. No rattlesnakes, right? ? Im going to bring my auto to manual swap kit. Lol. We can work in shifts.
  17. I'd love to boondock. That's more my style. Free and free. Any shade in that there boondock area?
  18. We had a fire last night. Crazy. Only have 6 more cords split. We only use 2 -3 a year.
  19. We went to a solar presentation last night. I won the door prize of 50 sf of Sol Blanket. It is used as a radiant heat insulation deflector. Guess what? Good to 2,000*. So I'm going to use it around my propane stove in areas where the stove and pipe are too close to combustibles. It looks like a semi ridged space blanket...but the shiny covering is some kind of aluminum rather than Mylar. I think I can install it with staples.
  20. Good discussed, but I'm more interested in year round use.
  21. Mostly concerned with using the trailer in colder weather. But the hay bails are a great idea! Then studded tires on truck and trailer. Be an awesome rig!
  22. Good to hear the fresh water tank should not be a problem. Thanks for the hint on holding tanks. All the more reason to just straight pipe that's stuff right out.?
  23. My trailer was not designed for cold weather use. Both hot and cold waterlines cross the trailer and are not protected. I plan to re-route lines inside the trailer. And maybe even terminate them from going to the bathroom with valves. This would mean no running water in bathroom in winter, but a milk jug will flush toilet. And I don't care about the shower or sink in there. Tub is generally used for storage anyway. ? Even if waterlines are visible in the interior, it'd only be pex pipe. I'd rather see it than have it non functional due to winter shut down. So the hot and cold water at kitchen sink would be functional. Nice features to have. My only concern is the holding tank, which is located up front against the front of the trailer. Might need to make some holes and install computer fans blowing in and out of the area. I've got a couple computer fans already and they take almost no power, but do move air well and run on 12 volt dc. Could put one in the bathroom wall to move heater air into there too.
  24. Can you get them with studs? If not, any recommendations?
  25. Guess that takes away my fears of the sump being venerable. Wow, video is awesome. Is there a real advantage to the sump? If low on fuel and going uphill, seems like you'll only see maybe a cup of reserve in the sump?
