  1. I am at 912 now and trying to gain some ground on you! I will be looking over my shoulder!
  2. I have one of these things and it does the same thing. I called quad today and they told me to try a different tune. I think they have their head up their ___. I would throw it at them if I was close enough. I have tried all of the tunes. This thing shudders on every tune when towing up a hill. Besides that if you get any other tune than the 2000 you lose a lot of bottom end. That doesn't help me at all. I think these things are not made right for the 2001's. This is very common problem for the XZT.
  3. It looked like new. They showed my brother (he took it to RevMax and watched them do it) the old clutches and then some new clutches and he said they looked the same. He said they were really nice guys who were very into building good torque converters. They cleaned out all the dirty parts and put it back together for very little money. They did me a favor because they want to use my mileage, on their converter, in their ads. I broke the input shaft on my last trans and nothing had contaminated the torque converter. I am putting that converter in my brother's truck now.
  4. I hope you had a great day.
  5. I dropped it off and picked it up myself so I have no idea about shipping. I also have not dropped the tc off yet but if it is less than a year old I think they will change the stall rate for the cost of parts which is around $50. That is what they told me last year.
  6. The input shaft broke. I am taking the converter back to RevMax this week and they will let me know how it looks inside. I am having them raise the stall rate also. I have absolutely no complaints about there converter. I have two trucks and a have a Goerend in in one and this revmax in another. If there is a difference I can't tell. I do know they didn't cost the same! Both or mine are triples.
  7. That looks great. Can you make me 2 of those? How is it attached under the bezel?
  8. I have heard things like that too. That would be awesome. --- Update to the previous post... I just got a new trans. I need to get money's worth out of it before I give it up. Can we roll it to 2m?
  9. I pulled over and called AAA. They sent a flatbed for my truck and a wrecker for the boat. The boat was worth $250k so there was no way I could let it out of my sight. They took both the truck and car to a hotel then I found a sho a few days later to do the install.
  10. I did use a revmax last time. It held up for all of the 314k miles. I had the stall speed set too low in that unit. The main difference in the revmax and goerend converters is the stator. I felt like the revamp did not pull as hard at the higher rpms and the goerend keeps the turbo spooled a lot better. Revmax uses a stock stator and build their converters around that. I am not a tranny guy but I feel like the goerend has more power than the revmax with lowered stall rates. My understanding is the design of the stator has a lot to do with putting down power. That being said once you are in lockup they are all the same. I have nothing bad to say about revmax. I got a lot of miles out of the unit and they were good to talk to on the phone. My tranny guy is the best. I paid $1200 for that rebuild. If anyone ever needs one he is in LA. I am happy to get anyone in touch with him.
  11. I am rolling again. I can spin the input shaft easily by hand in the old trans and it makes a grinding sound. So it looks like it was either the drum or the input shaft. We won't be taking it apart for awhile but if I remember I will take some pictures.
  12. I will order one tomorrow. Does it need to be closes to the downpipe to work well?
  13. I have 4 inch mbrp system and it is loud and drones all day long. I want a quiet muffler that will not effect performance too much. Any ideas?
  14. I just bought a rebuilt tranny with a billet input shaft for 1800. I tow heavy everyday and the last tranny I bought from these guys lasted 314k miles. I went with a cheaper triple disk last time and I think that was a mistake. This time I got a Goerend. I would not need a triple disk if I wasn't towing. If you call the good tourque converter companies they will tell you which converter will work best.
  15. I was towing when this happened. I was cruising at 65mph. I don't have the time to sit around and take the tranny apart. I bought a new one and a new TC. I have a guy in LA that builds my trannys. It cost me 1850 for the rebuild and that included a billet input shaft. I then called Goerend and they are overnighting me a new TC. The broken tranny will get opened up in a few weeks. I will report on the findings. Maybe though the input shaft will still be in the TC and we will know on Friday.
  16. The fluid smells normal. If it were the pump would I at least get sone slipping?
  17. Moparman is right. I paid $1200 to have the transmission rebuilt. It included a transgo shift kit. I also bought the $800 triple disc torque converter off ebay. I have been running fine for 314k miles. That is 314 hard and heavy towing miles. I have no beef with any of that. I just wish I knew what failed so I could replace it with a better part. I am going to get another trans from the same placce and another torque converter as well. We will have to wait until it is opened up to see what is going on. --- Update to the previous post... I do not have an underdrive/overdrive.
  18. There are no noises. I can shift the lever through all the gears and nothing will happen. I have Park and Nuetral. Is is possible to torque converter broke?
  19. I am going to have a new one built. I have two transmissions. The one that is not in the truck is at my transmission shop. The will have it done in a day. The part that sucks is we won't know what broke until after the new one is rebuilt so there is no way to guard against whatever happened from happening again.
  20. The oil is Dello or whatever is on sale. I change it every 8 to 10k miles. I think I have had 4 or 5 vps. I kill transmissions more often. My transmission gave out today as I was driving down the road. No go. --- Update to the previous post... Drums in back. Dana 70 rear end.
  21. I was cruising down the highway today and the truck acted like it slipped into nuetral. After that there was no go. None of the gears works, forward or reverse. At the time of the incident my temp was normal and there were no wierd noises. There was no noise when it went eiher. The truck just reved like it fell out of gear. My only guess is that I broke the input shaft. I assume that the only real answer will come by taking it apart.
  22. Why do you need A/C in Idaho? You will be working on covering your grille soon enough.
  23. I heard a lot of people say that about my truck when the head gasket blew at 500k miles. I changed the gasket anyway and it worked out for me. I now have over 900k miles and I am looking at a new turbo. I am more concerned about my transmission handling it than the motor.
  24. I wish the driver's seat still had some cushion!
