Temperature Drop
I like the Napa ones. The autozone and advanced are junk. --- Update to the previous post... That really just started happening. I had no idea what it was. I have to rev the motor a few time to get it out or I will white out a few blocks. It does not happen every time though.

Temperature Drop
I sleep in my truck all the time in all kinds of weather. I don't drop to 160 unless my thermostat is going bad. That is with the truck idling all night long.

3,000 or 7,500
I did that for the first 500k miles. That's true.

Temperature Drop
Your thermostat is stuck open. Put a new thermostat in.

3,000 or 7,500
8k to 10k on my truck. I hope I am not affecting my longevity...

1.000.000 Miles Yet???
949K right now. This is the slow season for me so I apologize for not racking up the miles faster! My guess is 1m will be in May or maybe April. --- Update to the previous post... Nice. You are about dead on.

tranny trouble
This is the most annoying problem I ever had. It is the torque converter locking and unlocking. Mine has done this many times. Try to fix it soon as it puts a lot of stress on the input shaft when this is happening. I killed a tranny this way. You can try resetting the appps and see if that fixes it. You can check all the grounds. You can replace the apps sensor. You can add a noise isolator. I bet if you did those things it would fix it.

What year factory rims will fit a 98.5
I have a set of 16 alloys off an 01 laying around. I am headed up to egg harbor pretty soon. I can put them in the truck if you are looking to buy some. This way you could try them first.

Troubleshooting dead end on dead pedal. Apologize for a long thread in advance
My truck runs great with the noise filter. If the filter last two years then it will outlast the apps anyway. I am not sure I believe the band aid idea. What if the problem is a lack of grounding? Then it would be a fix and not a band aid. It is a $20 fix. What can it hurt to try? I replaced my entire fuel system trying to fix the dead pedal issue. Nothing worked until I put the isolator on. Your situation seems awfully similar.

TIRES - Sizes, brands, etc. - What do you run?
It seems people are as loyal to their tire choice as they are their oil choice. I personally love my Michelins and you couldn't get them from me. It does seem though that every tire company compares itself to the Michelin. That has to tell you something.

47re stock or not?
The truck unlocks to shift. If you don't want it to you need a Lockup controller.

Suggested Upgrades for Diesels
I think bigger brakes should be on this list if you have a 24v.

Auto Trans Cracking
I have timbrens and love them. I would think it is a bent drive shaft or u joint before I thought it was bottoming out and causing the problem.

- What other maintenance / lube changes do we need to do?
I change my oil every 8k. My trans, reared, and coolant every 30k.I don't use Rotella because it smells terrible coming out of the breather. Some people call it Rosmella. I prefer Delo.- I thinking about putting one of these in my truck.
I am trying to figure out how the motor mounts will work. I do believe my towing capacity will improve. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/W%C3%A4rtsil%C3%A4-Sulzer_14RTFLEX96-C- TIRES - Sizes, brands, etc. - What do you run?
I bought calipers and the brackets from a jukyard and new rotors from napa. You need 17" wheels for the swap to work. It might be you only need to change the caliper brackets. I can't remember because I did this a while ago. If you can get a third gen caliper just look and see if it is the same. If it is (which I think it is) just get the brackets from a junk yard.- TIRES - Sizes, brands, etc. - What do you run?

I think he just needed the noise isolator.- TIRES - Sizes, brands, etc. - What do you run?
I run Michelin LTX AS 265/70/17's. There is not a better tire for the highway. I get well over 100k out of every set. If I drove in snow more I would get Michelion MS2. The AS also get the best fuel mileage of all the tires. They have a 75k mile waranty. Since you are getting new tires I would look into 17 inch rims off a 3rd gen. They look much better and they allow you to run a 3rd gen caliper and rotor so you can get bigger brakes. BTW, it is a sunny 70 here today.- Delo Oil
I use Delo. It was 11 bucks a gallon at ealmart last week. I get my oil filters from cummins. I like the statopore ones. Geno's garage is a good place to get them if you need them mailed to you. I do commando oil changes in parking lots all the time. I don't want anybody touching my truck I don't know.- Fuel tank size(s)
When my fuel light goes on I can get 31 gallons in. I can 110 in my second tank!- temp problems
Sounds like a bad thermostat to me. Have you checked around the head for leaks? A leaky head gasket can cause these things too.- Easy way to set valves
This is how I set my valves. I thought I was the only one so I didn't say anything.- 930k mile service
I'll be going 100 when it happens! - What other maintenance / lube changes do we need to do?
