Considering a Excursion
I would go with mega. I miss my mega bad and I will eventually own another. I would never own a 6 point oh no, I have had nightmares about 6 leakers that I have worked on. I am not joking. 7.3s arent bad but like you said, they eat glow plugs. I just worked on one and put all new glow plugs in and it still wont start unless plugged in below 60 degrees. I personally have never seen an excursion pull anything. Usually used by soccer moms. Actually I can only think of one person in my town of 9,000 with one.

Just a few questions.
Governor pressure sensor and solenoid with band adjustment. Get the bigger updated solenoid. Dont know about tranny pans. Heard they arnt everything they are hyped to be. I always add a bottle of lucas trans fix just to help lubricate bands and clutches. I love 4" exhaust. Wont help with power or mileage but will help with sound. I like mbrp 4" turbo back. Installer series

Possible lift pump fix teaser
mopartechnician replied to mopartechnician's topic in 2nd Generation Dodge Reliability / PerformanceWell got her installed. Couple things I think need changed and I am going to shoot them an email on monday. 1-(3/8" fuel line) we all know why this should be changed 2- no relay for pump control, its got a deutsch conector both made and female but the pump wiring has a male connector. The female side is a ground wire and a fused power wire that you jump off of a keyed fuse. I ended up hooking this up to the wiper fuse so the pump will shut off during cranking. Wish they had the female side of the connect to the fuel pump so that you could use the stock wire/ecm to control the pump 3-the mounting bracket is a great design with rubber isolatots to reduce noise transmission through the frame. But, the pump sits up too high and hits on everthing on a shortbox pickup. I had to do some mods to get it to work. If they would make it similar to a raptor or airdog it would be better. Its got the two plates that squeeze the frame but another bracket that hooks between the plate and the pump Other than that, time will tell. Its quiet and has a solid 18-19 at idle. Didnt get a chance to drive it on the highway

Possible lift pump fix teaser
mopartechnician replied to mopartechnician's topic in 2nd Generation Dodge Reliability / PerformanceBut, what other options can you use. Espcially in the stock housing. I use the best filters that can be used. I understand what your saying, I work on locomotive that use three paper filters the size of five gallon buckets, a suction screen and two spin on fiters the size of a 2 liter bottles. And they run the cheapest fuel possible. The new common rail GE motors actually are using a 2 micron filter and a huge water seperater filter.

Possible lift pump fix teaser
mopartechnician replied to mopartechnician's topic in 2nd Generation Dodge Reliability / PerformanceI know very little about filters. I just run what the "filter god" says to run. I am just looking for something that is more reliability. Not looking for filtration since he will be running a pf7977 in the stock housing

Possible lift pump fix teaser
mopartechnician replied to mopartechnician's topic in 2nd Generation Dodge Reliability / PerformanceYa thats where im at too. But if my goes belly up im buying one. Any customer that needs a pump, I will push these. Never been a fass fan but the last one I did was a fass. Have only had a couple raptors go bad. So Im at a cross roads right now. I really dont need comebacks for stuff that isnt even my fault

Possible lift pump fix teaser
mopartechnician replied to mopartechnician's topic in 2nd Generation Dodge Reliability / Performancehttp://www.rollinsmokediesel.com/cat-velocity-fuel-system.cfm I get them for way cheaper. You need the pump and kit and can install if you got another style of pump already on pickup. Kinda spendy but I do believe they are gonna be worth it

The logic in this...
I seen stock intake horn on a 750hp pickup. I always say stock intake and horn till 500 than add intake horn

Dead Petal - P0216 issues
Injection pump is shot. It will cause a dead pedal because the timing in pump is shot. Get a better lift pump. The direct replacements were a band-aid fix

Fuel pressure dropping/ rough starts
I think its a band-aid fix for torque convertor unlock issues
-
The logic in this...
I do believe its lack of muffler
-
The logic in this...
4" will handle lots of hp. I bet close to 1000. I hate the way 5" sounds espcially towing. Plus there is no added benifit. I always say mbrp 4" turbo back with muffler.

Air dog install
I ran my ad165 through the stock housing. I have a 5 micron filter in the stock and a 2 micron filter and 20 micron w/s on the airdog. The stock housing is the best water seperator you can have. Whenever I install an aftermarket pump, I leave all the stock lines and pump in just in case

Fuel pressure dropping/ rough starts
Try wiring your trigger wire for you fass to the window motor fuse. Fass has a write up on it. Might help your hard starts
