  1. I've had nothing but luck ordering through lmctruck. I'm actually getting a list together to order some stuff for my new truck.
  2. Yep sounds like its leaking. I don't know if there is a rebuild kit or now. I have always just replaced them.
  3. I also agree with the stealth plate. I had a wire actually break in two and was almost impossible to solder back together.
  4. I agree also to check your vent. Speedy sleeves are pretty easy. Put a little Loctite on the inside and find something to help hammer it onto the yoke.
  5. Like said before the fans are only needed in slow speed/stop and go driving. I have also seen many times that electric fans can't meet the demand needed by a towing diesel truck. On my 01 that I just bought the mechanical fan went out so the guy had an electric fan out of a grand Cherokee that he rigged in there. I don't really think it pulls much air but I havn't tried it. If you wanna test is the fan is pulling air, I was always told to stick a dollar bill in front of the intercooler and if it holds it up, its pulling enough air. Just my two cents.
  6. I know this is a long shot but hook a ground to the thermocouple and see if that helps, might be loosing a ground in your wiring.
  7. I should of used better grammar and said I have never seen a vp without a support bracket that runs from the vp down to the block. I have never seen a gasket behind the bracket where it mounts to the block but when I was doing research on the tappet cover I kept coming across people saying there is one. So when I do the tappet cover I'm going to do a how to and take pictures.
  8. Every vp44 I have ever done has the bracket. They might have forgotten to put it on if your vp was replaced
  9. I have a theory on what was going on here. The connector tube o-ring seals out air from getting into your fuel system. So if you have a bad one it lets air bleed back your fuel. You cannot measure air molucles(sp) so you can have an air leak but no fuel leak. Usually if you have a bad connector tube o-ring it will be hard starts cold and start normal when the engine is warm. I would have to look at he injectors to see if there is actually fuel return going past the connector tube but Im thinking that the o-ring on the injector blocks the return fuel.
  10. I have the same exact oil leak as you described. I ordered a tappet gasket today and gonna replace every gasket i can find on the drivers side of the engine. I have even read there is a gasket where the vp44 back bracket mounts to the block. But, i have never seen it in the 40+ vp44s i have done. Im also gonna add some dye to my oil before i start so i can do some looking while im tearing everything off to get to the cover.

  12. where you located rancherman?
  13. Been watching this site for years, havn't been on many forums lately since I had to sell my 06 megacab. Just picked me up my third cummins (other one was a 02) its a 2001 sport, auto. I sure did miss the diesel. If you guys have any technical questions, I'm a former Dodge/cummins tech and spent many of years under the hood of 2nd/3rd gen trucks. I still do some side work, which keeps me busy.
