  2. JimMeant to update ....... sorry forgot. I found this on my truck - not sure if same for you.If I put the truck DIRECTLY into gear as soon as the engine is started ...... I don't stall. If i start, wait for 5 minutes for engine to warm up ...... stalls every time.I have no idea why ........ but its about 90% effective ........... be curious to see what yours does ?
  3. Yeah but what if you were running ISX's tires ........ 245/75/16 hmm - ran that through the calculator and only a 4% difference. But wonder on weight etc. ?? That could be another 10% overall compared to my 265/75/16's. How much do you pick up with the 235/85 R16 OAT's ?? mpg ? Thinking if I can hit 20mpg on the 265/75/16 -> then could I hit 22-23 on the BIG O AT's or ISX's tires. Then the numbers are closer again right ?

  5. Yeah what Rogan says is what I see on the forums all the time. 12v getting 26-28 hwy and 18-20 city.24v getting 19-21 hwy and 14-16 city. Each case around 40% better than a 24v. Not 5%, not 10% -> 40% :stuned:Doesn't seem to matter too much where you live. Obviously peoples accuracy and true figures may vary though. So I was thinking it must be the 1000 lbs and smaller tires ....... but your saying you get the same mileage with the truck loaded isx ??? Then apart from the injection delivery/timing and compression the main differences would be the tires and lower to ground ?? I also notice Mikes MPG shoot up with the smaller tires. SO ...... has anyone on the vp44's switched out to smaller tires and noticed a large increase in MPG - and how would you calibrate to make sure its accurate ? As a smaller tire will do more revolutions per distance travelled and make your MPG shoot up correct ? I guess I was thinking - it "seems" possible to pick up 2+mpg with smaller tires. If I switched mine out - and got that I could possibly hit 22-23mpg. That in a 4x4 that still weighs 1000 lbs more than isx's seems a little closer to what he's seeing ......

Was going to go to a street party (TEMPE)Bailed at last minute and wife and me went to dinner at local pub and then went on to watch a movie. True Grit. Not too bad a movie. No hangover :hyper:HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A GREAT 2011 - maybe we could have our own MM1973 street party up in idaho this year ..... hahahahaha ..........
  7. Anyone got ideas of how to polish/protect the exhaust housing?? Painting would be no good due to the heat ..... not sure if you can do anything else .... would be smae principle for our rusty looking manifolds
  8. Yeah - no I think this is awesome. But since you and ISX talk alot by phone I wanted to add this in. I know he gets 28 driving all around his place (pretty constant elevation) in winter or in summer. Now this IAT fooling looks like its doing a great job of increasing your mpg for winter - but its not going to do anything for summer right - as the IAT's will already be high. So we VP44's seem to max out at 20-21 mpg. He gets 28 all day long - how come ?? A few things spring to mind 1) Whats the weight of your truck ISX - with those tires it just looked smaller than mine - but maybe it was just the tires ? 2) Is his 28mpg due to the smaller tires -> either a small calculation error with larger distances due to smaller tires - or the tires themselves ? He doesn't have a scanguage to adjust his tire size right ? 3) Something else outside of timing/IAT ........ as he doesn't have it yet still gets good numbers. I mean he's pretty much stock in those terms and still getting good numbers. If we we stock we would be only 17mpg highway. etc
  9. got a pic of your turbo exhaust housing on here somewhere ?
  10. Getting close to putting on my new turbo. I want to get 1or2 runs up a long hill with my new CHIP - maybe arrive today - to determine EGT's before and after on cruis control. Trying to decide if to use the NEW one or the USED one which is in good condition. Anyway to help protect the EXHAUST part of the housing from the "heatrust" you see on exhuast components - just for aesthetic reasons ?? ..... or am I being
  11. thats another good tid-bit My uncle always flushed the oil changes with anoher 50% of new oil. eg if a 10 quart change he would let 5 quarts go through first to help clean out old oil ... and then add the 10 quarts. Was re-looking at that frantz stuff today - man I would seriously consider that if I was going to keep her more than 2012. Good concept and cheap.
  12. You have the ADRENALINE BOX with the PULSE V1 display module. This and EDGE are the 2 main fuel/timing power modules for our vp44's. Its a $500 power enhancement and adds over 120-180HP (or almost double your stock). Its a NICE chip. Get it working - and just go easy on your tranny .... don't floor in and stick to the lower power levels. You should pick up some MPG as well once you get it working as long as you do ....
  13. Do you have the pulse or control pod ?? If you have power - make sure its on a decent level - like PL06 and see that you have a fair amount of power off the line. Basically check all connections and make sure its tapped the VP44. EGT is just an EGT gauge using thermocouple - shouldn't break the quad. Worst case - take EVERYTHING off ..... and reinstall in as per the instructions which you can download. Then you know its done right. IF you have problems call QUAD - you may need to send it in and get it looked at. Its about $500 worth of chip - and probably the most sought after out there for our trucks - so if you can fix it - keep it
  14. Nice article guess I liked the analysis on the oils (and that DELO and ValvBlue came out on top ) as well as his analysis on 3000,6000,10000,20000 miles oil changes. nice stuff
  15. oooohhhh lookie what I found only 30 minutes away Hey ryan - they are doing franchises ........ lets get us 1 ...... you be the brains and wrench wizzard ...... and I'll be ....... well ..... still working on that part http://www.ufixitautomotive.com/ helps me with my oil changes ...... and other fluid/tid bits .......... now just gotta find a place to blow off the underside of my engine ...... guess I could just get the blower on the ground at a manual wash and crawl under there a bit .....
  16. color ?pics ?just a box on pillar - or the box is elsewhere and you have a display/guage on pillar ?? guessing a xzillraider
  17. okbut what exactly are you guys cleaning with the power washer ?? Thats a fair degree of pressure -> I'd be worried about ripping something off .......Be good for those hard to reach spots ......... just gotta find somewhere to do it since I can't at the RV park ...... hmmmmYeah I use an orange/citrus cleaner on my HUBS - works as good as the $8 stuff for $2
