  2. I am glad you share this info because I missed that tread from Mike and I am for sure doing this as soon as I pass by the hardware store. How or were did you get the draw straw? does this draw straw make a big difference ? My Dog has always given me 13 to 14 psi .Do you know how often you have to change the water separator?
  3. Has any body notice the intake on this engine ? Is it bigger than the one of the 24v ? Just wondering.
  4. I cleaned them with that same tip of the knife that I used to pull the injector tubes out since it doesn't have any sharp edges and I also used diesel with a rag. thanks!
  5. Well I went bought some wire brushes from harbor freight and got them in there and then I blew in some compressed air as much as I could but I couldnt help a little oil get in to injector 6 .I also tried to torque the injector hold downs and torque them to 8 ft lb .I also replaced the the o ring on the injector tubes and tried to clean all that crud from the injector tubes as much as I could with out scratching them . Dually what do you mean by funky looking tubes are they not normal. ---------- Post added at 11:10 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:03 PM ---------- So the best thing to do I guess is to not leave it idling unless you have been pulling heavy load right? No Idling at all even after driving in town to let it cool off ? Whats the recommended time to let it idle when needed?
  6. Check out what I ended up using to pull the injector tubes .I tried needle nose pliers and a screwdriver didn't work and this Swiss nife ended up working for me, this end was very smooth and it was very easy on the tread of the injector tubes.
  7. Ok I got all the injectors out now I got a quick question do I need to brush the bore?
  8. I found this ad about this turbo and was wondering if it fits my truck ,the ad says that it came from an 8.3L cummins truck he is asking $300 for it. what do you think?
  9. Yeah I think thats it I was going uphill It didnt look like much but it was probably it, I didnt check the hubs never tought about it should have :banghead:
  10. Ok so today I went out to the lake and we took my uncles boat ,I don't know how much it weight but this mourning when we were on our way over there my egt's were pretty low well at least thats what I think I do really have an idea of whats normal but they were running around the 700's and had my adrenaline on level 3 and on 5th gear. But on the way back I started to notice alot of difference the truck felt heavier and had it on the same level and also on 5th gear and egt's were higher 950's so I slowed down a little and drop it to 4th gear and the egt's went down again to 750's . So my question is was this boat pretty heavy or am I missing something maybe a bigger turbo or what could it be? this is a picture I took when we got to the lake .

  19. could it be the Crankshaft Sensor position.
  20. I am going to start saving for some injectors but don't know much about which ones to choose, I have seen that there are different horse rated ones. I want something that I don't have to change the turbo asoon as I upgrade the injectors, but I also want to have enough power injectors for when I do upgrade the turbo. Any advice would be appreciated . Thanks!
  21. Dually sorry if I confused you , I got to trucks a 2001 that I bought as a project and a 2000 that is the one I drive around I bought it last year in february and the pump went out last summer so I got one from Mr. Chip (bluechip) and its been working fine I was just saying that the one that I bought over here at a local shop for the 2001 looks very similar same paint and packing letters on top and all. This pump I got from this shop has a one year warranty if you need one I can set you up with this guys, they got them priced at $1,000 shipping free.
  22. Ok guys so I finally got this project truck turn on . I got a rebuild pump from a local diesel store at an average price with a one year warranty so I am good now . But there's something I noticed this pump looks very similar to the one I bought last year for my 2000 dodge ram from blue chip for way more money almost double . The owner of this store didn't told me were he gets them but he did told me something that go me thinking ,he said that his store specialized in selling machines for testing pumps and other diesel equipment and also most of the replacements needed for rebuilding a vp44 pump and other kind of rotary pumps . He said that he purchased the vp44 pumps from one of his clients so maybe that client could be blue chip or may be not o well just a tought.
  23. I think you got to keep an eye on both but for sure as soon as you see your pressure drop you need to change it .
  24. I have too trying to build a fuel line kit with the stock pump this are some things that I am thinking of using what do you think. on the filter head I a was planning in removing one of them and replacing it with the stock lift pump (I got this filter heads pretty cheap too I go them for 25 bucks).
