Swaybar end links?
@CSM I'm running 35x12.50's so I need the leveling kit. @notlimah It was in stock when I ordered, took 4 days to get it. DO NOT buy anything from DOR that isn't in stock unless you want to gamble on waiting months to get your parts.

Swaybar end links?
My truck has been feeling unstable lately when hitting bumps. It seems to sway left and right easily in a quick jerking motion. My end links are definitely worm and was wondering if this could be the sole cause of the issue? Truck has new Bilstien 5100's, DOR track bar with no play, ball joints don't have play, unit bearings don't have play, and all steering linkages are new and have no play.

Since I needed my truck and car pooling wasn't going to work my wife continued to drive her truck. Well, the lifter ended up banging itself free and everything is fine again, thank you God! I contacted Range Technologies about the AFM disablers intermittent function issue and was told it needed an update. So, I'll be plugging it in to the laptop to do just that.

Sick, trans is acting up, and I need my truck in the morning
@Greenlee Trust me, I wanted to give that guy a beating of legendary proportions I download a copy of the ATSG service manual and read it cover to cover. https://www.atsg.us/atsg/chrysler-manuals-1/46re-47re-48re.html I also watched some youtubee videos showing the basic principles of how an automatic transmission works. If there is anything I can help you with please let me know.

Auto to Manual Trans Swap
Goerend would be an excellent choice for components. They no longer offer in-house built transmissions but will give you a list of recommended builders around your aera. Phill Taylor at Diesel Performance Converters is a great guy to deal with. I'm running a remaned Suncoast billet triple disk from him and love it. When I was having trans issues (due to a worthless pos trans shop) he offered to split, clean, replace seals, weld up, balance, and ship back my Suncoast converter for $75. He got me out a bind and did everything he could to help, I highly recommend him. Dusty Hawk at HTS offers complete transmissions, a 47re rated for 600HP and includes a triple disk converter runs $5K. He builds some stout VB's, one of which is currently in my trans. No one wanted to accept my old VB as a core because it already had a shift kit installed (a couple holes drilled in an oil passage) except for Dusty. He's a very knowledgeable guy and will go out of his way to help you.

I skimmed over that some and will read it all the way through later, there's a lot in information packed in that article. Thanks for posting it

Having Line X Applied to Hood
I roll on lined my entire truck with duplicolor liner until I can afford to paint it. Keep in mind that Line X will be a mother to remove if you decide the paint it later.

@CTcummins24V The camshaft lobes are different for the AFM lifters and will not work with solid lifters. The AFM lifters are taller and if you replace them with solid lifters you will only reach about 25% compression on those cylinders. @Mopar1973Man The lifters fail by compressing in on themselves and sticking due to a buildup of varnish inside the lifters. There is a spring loaded metal pin running horizontally through the AFM lifters that is released via oil pressure. With afm disabled the pin will never be released and the lifter will not compress. However, if the pin breaks the lifter will compress and if there is a build up of varnish inside the lifter it will stick. @IBMobileI'm using torque to yield bolts. I'm not doing anything but replacing the cam and lifters, lifter trays, valley plate, new head gaskets, and reprogramming the ECM. Money is tight so I have to do the bare minimum to get it back up and running right.

I have the AFM disabled on this truck and a lifter still failed. The only thing I can think of is that the retention pin inside the lifter broke.

Will do. It SHOULD be a straight forward conversion that can be done in a day.

My Next Job
That'll work. I need to get a measurement from my truck to compare, I'll have to press off one of my new ends since I just got rid of the Y steering parts I had laying around
-
My Next Job
If you get the chance to take some measurements from a 00-02 truck please let me know. I'd like to know for a fact if the holes are different or not.

I hope you choke on a bag of d**ks! Had yet ANOTHER afm lifter take a dump tonight on the wife's 2009 GMC Sierra. I'm converting it to regular lifters and pulling all of the AFM garbage off, enough is enough. I need a new cam ($93), lifters ($113), valley plate ($42), and the ECM reprogrammed ($50). I'm going to pull the electric fans, radiator and A/C condenser to get the cam out. Thank you GM for implementing such a failure prone pos system on an otherwise reliable vehicle

My Next Job
I thought the issue with the tapered holes was when converting to a 4th Gen steering?
-
My Next Job
Are you sure that all of the 00-02 trucks have the new style taper? I've found reports of people successfully doing the conversion on those trucks.
-
My Next Job
Mine is correct, though I need add an update to it. You can use everything from my article on a 00-02 EXCEPT for the pitman arm side tie rod end. The tapered hole in 00-02 pitman arms are a different diameter than 95-99 trucks. The AC Delco Professional part number for 00-02 trucks is 45A0842 and can be found on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/ACDelco-45A0842-Professional-Passenger-Steering/dp/B000TN9GRG

Would there be any interest in a interior refinishing write up?
I ended up fubaring my new head liner fabric so I have to order some more I'm still going to do more work to my interior, just have to wait for funds to free up. My door panels are still looking good after the paint job so at least something went right.

Could really use some help - Engine knock

Auto to Manual Trans Swap
500+ HP is hard on ANY trans when attached to an 8k pound truck, even if it's running tires that came off a Prius

Auto to Manual Trans Swap
Keep in mind that the cost of building the 47RE you have now vs swapping in a NV4500 will end up about the same. The NV4500 will need a billet input at the very least and there is also the 5th gear issue that will need to be addressed. You will also need a stout clutch to hold the kind of power your planning on making. I have a 47RE in my truck and was planning to swap it for a NV4500 but ended up getting the bugs worked out and keeping it. Overall I'm glad I ended up keeping the auto.

It's going to be a fun day
We got everything out by around 1pm yesterday. I didn't thing an 8k pound winch would do it but it did. Really could have used my buddy's old truck lol. I can't find any pics of it completed, but here's one where we were about halfway done with the suspension. Those are 44x18.50 ground hawgs, he was going to run 49" IROK's after the suspension was done. He ended up selling the truck shortly after it was finished to help fund his welding business.
