Dodge Dana 60 high steer
Ok first off I get that NONE of you have a need for high steer arms with your fancy track bar and all. But I used a Dodge Dana 60 front in my Cummins swap project and unfortunately with the lift I ended up with, my drag link is ridiculously steep and the bump steer is totally undriveable. My question for you Dodge guys is do you think there is enough meat in the steering knuckle to drill and tap 4 holes for mounting a high steer arm? I know they make high steer arms for the ball joint 60's used in the Ford Super Duty but for obvious reasons no one makes one for the Dodge axles. I attached a picture in case anyone would like to have a look while they ponder. The white dots are where I think would be the most appropriate locations for holes. .

1 EGT probe to 2 devices?
Just out of curiosity did you torch the bung plug real good before you gave up on pulling it out?

1 EGT probe to 2 devices?
Good looking out. It's the first nexus 10 ever made so I'm hoping they didn't think to put that technology in. Yay for a new project.

1 EGT probe to 2 devices?
I am using a 10 inch tablet that will be making its permanent home in my dash. I'm going to remove the battery and supply key on power through a USB power adapter and try one of the auto run apps to force the Quadzilla app to open on power up, essentially creating a dedicated display for the Quadzilla so I don't have to touch it at all when I start up. Hope, I guess, is the operative word here.

I can't disagree with you there. I love having all my gauges right on the Quadzilla. Just offering suggestions.

I would think it should be fairly simple to put a Y in the j1939 access at the ecm and run a j1939 compliant egt gauge like this https://www.massgenie.com/vdo-ocean-link-j1939-1700f-exhaust-temperature-gauge-f5jmrdcuah1unbop?utm_campaign=productdatafeed&utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=google

No doubt. That was an amazing piece of work Nick. I really really appreciate it. Check the gold donors list.

02 Cummins 1850rpm max
If it's an 02 motor then it should accept vss input. Where are you getting the signal from? I was thinking about this a little more in depth and a normal vss signal is a twisted pair of wires but the input at the Cummins ecm is a single wire. I'm guessing that this is some sort of 0-5v signal created by the pcm. My tcm has 3 pairs of twisted wires that come from it for various purposes but the wire to the ecm is single. Is there a location on the Ford pcm that has a similar output? Might be worth a shot.

Any updates on this?

I know next to nothing about ford transmissions. I know that in my setup the vss share to the ecm comes from the tcm. I'd try to splice off of your vss wire at your cruise control or abs to pin 43 at the ecm.

So wait. You're telling me that I could put programming in the Quadzilla to command anything j1939? Bwahaha hmmmm

Vss from tail shaft to pin 43. Or even better take it to the Cummins Dealer and have them turn that parameter off and forget about the Dakota digital. Not that I don't like them it's just that this is probably one of those times where less is more. What trans are you using?

I actually have a y in my j1939 bus where the Quadzilla and tcm plug in specifically for expansion purposes. Now to source an inexpensive vgt.

Yes on the trans slip. It was always right around 100% and now it's around 4% give or take the amount of acceleration I'm giving it. I'm betting it goes to 0 once the tc locks up which only happens in 6th right now and we're not quite there yet. Once the trans has learned to shift and Jason enables lockup in all gears but first I'll report back again on the lockup indicator but like you said if the info is on the bus then it's there.

@Me78569 I am absofrickinglutely ecstatic to report the lolally flash worked. I have gear display all the way up to 6 now and I believe trans temp is correct. Hard to tell for sure on the trans temp but usually the temperature displayed in trans temp (actually engine oil temp because that's where the sender is installed) is very close to coolant temp but during the test run today they were very different. Thank you thank you thank you. I will donate tonight when the wife gets home.

Nice. I always find such good info here. Guess that's why I hang out here even though I'm a Chevy guy. They just weren't smart enough to get a contract with Cummins hehe. Thank God I don't actually have to DO any work so I can stand around and watch people work whilst I chat with you guys hehe. Good times.

Ever do any android/arduino stuff @Me78569 ? I am looking for someone to build a simple climate control app (couple sliders and a temp readout) that would control a servo to open/shut the diverter valve to maintain a requested temperature and an electronic speed control like you'd find in an rc car for the fan speed. I would of course pay for this.

Yes I agree. I did not necessarily EXPECT the guys at Quadzilla to do this for me, however I did ASK and was told they would work on it. There was a trade of sorts. Like I said they have always been helpful and accommodating when they could. It's my belief that these kinds of swaps are becoming more popular and I was simply looking for ways to make it simpler and more user friendly. I do appreciate your hard work and I will let you know how it goes.

My trans guy is Jason@transmissiontuner.com. He would be the guy you'd want to talk to about technical details. I'm just a dumb carpenter. He is an absolute genius when it comes to tcm and tech stuff. I understand enough to get how it works but as far as hex messages and pids he'd be your guy.

I'm not sure I agree with that. The medium duty Cummins are capable. In the years that have actual Dodge ecms I believe that may be true but if the tcm and ecm are connected on the databus, requested pids should be available in the same way that my tcm reads tps data off the bus because the Quadzilla requests it. My Quadzilla plugs into a "T" at the datalink connector so in theory the information doesn't even have to pass through the ecm. If the Quadzilla requested it the tcm would send it and then it could be displayed. The issue is finding the correct pids, which I have provided, and interpreting the hex data into intelligible readings for humans. The problem is that the Quadzilla is not requesting trans temp because it has a dedicated input in the wiring harness package.

I'd be surprised if it did work on the 47's but it's common on the Allison's. Since Duramax is one of the engine options in the Quadzilla menu, it should follow that trans temp would be available there but alas it is not. I've talked to the guys over there a few times, even stopped by last time I was in slc, and they've always been super great to talk to but they're always so busy with other things. Just trying to see if there is more interest so I can get these things moved closer to the top of their priority list. My gear indicator and lockup is spot on until it gets to 5th gear which the 47 doesn't have. But like I said, Duramax is one of the engine options so it should be able to communicate with the Ally it just won't after you select the Cummins engine. I will check out the autostart apps though. Since my quadzilla is my gauge cluster I doubt really want to have to fiddle with out every time I start it up.

I have been after the guys at Quadzilla Power to make a couple changes for me. I'm hoping that, with a little combined interest from the community here, maybe I can get these changes implemented. The changes I have requested are: Trans temp reading from the can bus so I can use the trans/oil temp sender that comes with the Quadzilla for my oil tempo and still be able to read trans temp at the same time; The ability to select engines and transmissions independently so I can have the gauges for me Cummins engine and the correct gear indicator for my 6 speed Allison. I get that this doesn't apply to most but I never heard anyone say more options isn't better; The Quadzilla app to start up upon device boot. This way you could leave the device in the vehicle, remove the battery, and supply it with key on power through a USB power adapter. When you turn the vehicle on the device would power up and automatically load Quadzilla app making the device you choose essentially a dedicated display for the app and no fiddling around with out every time you start your truck. https://www.digi.com/resources/documentation/digidocs/90001546/task/android/t_faq_autostart_custom_android_applications.htm
