Question about IQUAD gauges with my phone.
Well it was so nice today, i decided to install the quad instead of my other plans. Two things that annoyed me, first I thought the fuel pressure sensor was included so that was a let down, gonna take another $70 to get that sorted. Second, I went to install the oil temp sensor and my heater lines are in the way. I will need to go find a brass elbow for that to work. Aside from accidentally unplugging my high idle switch and trying to fumble it back together, everything else went great. That's a lie, I totally forgot the password for my tablet and had to do a factory reset and then I forgot to turn the bluetooth on so I spent like 10 minutes scanning for nothing. I forgot what a dog these trucks are stock, got to get some tunes downloaded now.

Question about IQUAD gauges with my phone.
I will have to drill and tap another hole for the EGT probe, I don't want my current gauge to not function but I do want the added protection of the Quadzilla monitoring it. I already have an extra FP port and will put the temp sensor in the engine oil. I do still need to remove my Comp and remount my CB now that I won't have the scan gauge strapped to it anymore. I had to make a double bracket to give me the clearance, now I can tuck it up in the dash a little tighter.

My Quadzilla arrived today(Thanks Mike), not sure I'll have time to install it this week, but surely by next weekend I should have it in.

Tires
You know the numbers , must just be the large tread gaps then. Every time I had to tightly maneuver in a parking lot with the 285's(Toyo AT's) I would hit that point where the power steering felt like it wasn't working at all. That hasn't happened with the 295's, just the occasional rubbing of the control arms.

Question about IQUAD gauges with my phone.
I'll get it sorted out when everything gets here. I just ordered the tablet and the gooseneck holder, should be here Monday. I still have to wait for a check to arrive before I can get the Quad though.

Tires
My truck had the stock 265's when I got it , 18mpg. I went with 285/75R16's and down to 16mpg. Installing my Edge got me up to 19mpg, but then I got some 295/70R17's and went back down to 17mpg. The one thing I will say about my 295's is my steering got easier. These tires are either narrower or the large tread gaps(mud terrains) are reducing the friction and I haven't had a single stiff steering issue since I got them. Doing the 3rd gen brake upgrade also made the truck stop like it had stock tires again.

Question about IQUAD gauges with my phone.
I could make more money selling the smarty instead of the scan gauge, would like to keep one for pulling codes as well.

Question about IQUAD gauges with my phone.
That bracket is nice, followed your link and found one to hold a tablet as. I found a 7" voyager pro tablet with 2 year anything goes warranty for $60. Hopefully I can get this stuff ordered in the next week. I've been running the smarty on stock after my last keyboard lashing, haven't verified my speed yet, but I'm not passing anyone so I figured it was still good. I'll just keep it in the closet and use it when I make that next trip to the tire store.

Question about IQUAD gauges with my phone.
Wow, that's cool, maybe if I didn't hate that place so much I would look around more, lol. It doesn't matter what kind of tablet, as long as it's got the android operating system?

Question about IQUAD gauges with my phone.
So the smarty will stay in the closet then. I have a bad habit of changing tire size every time I get a new set. I'm scouting CL now looking for a cheap used android phone, but my wife loves her iphones so much I doubt I would be without one. She just got her's replaced with insurance but is still drooling over the new iphone 10.

Question about IQUAD gauges with my phone.
So I plan to jump on this train shortly, waiting for a check to arrive so I can get a Quadzilla Adrenaline with the wifi option. I plan to use my current iphone 6, I was curious if I will need to have the app on all the time with gauges displayed for it to work or only if I want to see the extra gauges? I may convince the wife to upgrade to a new iphone and I will use her 6S+ as a dedicated gauge display in my truck. I'm very computer illiterate, but after reading the info on the Quad multiple times, it's been making more sense. Another question, obviously I will be able to sell my comp and I don't imagine I will need my scangauge anymore either if I get a dedicated display. Will the Quad allow me to change tire size in the computer or should I hang on to my smarty for that?

Lockup switch curiosity
Is there a write up of that version? It does sound pretty slick.

Lockup switch curiosity
I talked to the shop, they said adding the switch wouldn't hurt my warranty, even agreed it was a good idea. I guess I'll look for a switch and give it a try. Thanks for the info.

Nickel dimeing me
Some times it doesn't matter what kind of driver you are. Last year I had a friend miss a few days of work because they couldn't get her car to move from all the snow, even tried pulling it out with her brothers 3/4 ton chevy, he just couldn't get enough traction to get it free. My co-worker went to visit his parents who don't drive, parked in their driveway and had to call a tow truck to get out and he was in a lifted duramax. He had a neighbor try pulling him first with no luck. My wife and I had to get running starts to get out of our driveway. I shovel the driveway, but we don't get much plow service in town so the street was still pretty deep. That reminds me, I need to get a new tow strap, I have a feeling I will be pulling more people out of ditches this winter.

Lockup switch curiosity
That makes sense, I don't tow too often, but when I do it's usually on the heavy side, I can see how the lockup would come in handy. It's nice to know everything else would remain normal the rest of the time as well. I may swing by the shop that built my transmission and see what they think about me doing that. I still have 98k miles of warranty left, don't want to ruin that. It may be something worth doing to my truck after all.

Lockup switch curiosity
That's good to know, so do you basically use it to assist with braking then? I guess the switch would be better for the guys who use it for racing. I assume if you left it locked while stopping it would stall the truck?

Lockup switch curiosity
I have a fairly good idea of how the lockup switch works. I am curious though, if you install a switch but don't have the switch on, will the converter lock/unlock like normal? Do you have to control it 100% of the time if you install the switch? I'm not really sure I need or want to do it, these are just questions I keep asking myself every time I see a post related to it.

Nickel dimeing me
The only things on my truck I HAD to replace was one TRE, the starter, and recently my steering shaft and I just hit 215k miles. I have spent lots of money on my truck, but I don't consider upgrades a requirement. I didn't HAVE to get the custom battery cables, or the FASS, or the 3rd gen brakes...and this list could go on. Those were all things I wanted to have.

Advice on gauges
I know everybody hates them, but I've had Glow shift gauges for 2.5 years with no issues.

If you only have 10k on the rebuild, why doesn't it have a warranty?

How many bolts hold your hubs on?
Threads didn't appear damaged, I cleaned them up real good yesterday when everything was apart. I got my new bolts today and they went right in. I applied some loctite so hopefully I don't lose them again.

How many bolts hold your hubs on?
So I did the 3rd gen brake upgrade today and while looking things over noticed I only have 2 bolts holding my driver side hub bearing on. I know removing weight helps with mpg/performance and all, but this seems a tad overkill. I ordered a new set of bolts, should arrive tomorrow morning....and I will be taking my car.

Recommendations for towing mirrors
Those are the ones I have as well and they came with the support brackets. I started with the non towing so can't comment on the 2nd gen style. I do like the large 4th gen style convex mirrors though. Because they go all the way down the side when folded down, I can see my rear tires which allows me to parallel park or back into tight spots with without rubbing curbs. They also give a much wider angle view when flipped up for towing as opposed to a small spot mirror.
