Lockup switch curiosity
I have a fairly good idea of how the lockup switch works. I am curious though, if you install a switch but don't have the switch on, will the converter lock/unlock like normal? Do you have to control it 100% of the time if you install the switch? I'm not really sure I need or want to do it, these are just questions I keep asking myself every time I see a post related to it.

Nickel dimeing me
The only things on my truck I HAD to replace was one TRE, the starter, and recently my steering shaft and I just hit 215k miles. I have spent lots of money on my truck, but I don't consider upgrades a requirement. I didn't HAVE to get the custom battery cables, or the FASS, or the 3rd gen brakes...and this list could go on. Those were all things I wanted to have.

Advice on gauges
I know everybody hates them, but I've had Glow shift gauges for 2.5 years with no issues.

2000 diesel torque converter
If you only have 10k on the rebuild, why doesn't it have a warranty?

How many bolts hold your hubs on?
Threads didn't appear damaged, I cleaned them up real good yesterday when everything was apart. I got my new bolts today and they went right in. I applied some loctite so hopefully I don't lose them again.

How many bolts hold your hubs on?
So I did the 3rd gen brake upgrade today and while looking things over noticed I only have 2 bolts holding my driver side hub bearing on. I know removing weight helps with mpg/performance and all, but this seems a tad overkill. I ordered a new set of bolts, should arrive tomorrow morning....and I will be taking my car.

Recommendations for towing mirrors
Those are the ones I have as well and they came with the support brackets. I started with the non towing so can't comment on the 2nd gen style. I do like the large 4th gen style convex mirrors though. Because they go all the way down the side when folded down, I can see my rear tires which allows me to parallel park or back into tight spots with without rubbing curbs. They also give a much wider angle view when flipped up for towing as opposed to a small spot mirror.

Recommendations for towing mirrors
I have the 4th gen style from 1AAUTO as well, pretty smooth on the road, no complaints from me. I've had them over a year with no issues. I really prefer the straighter lines of the 4th gen mirrors over the 2nd gen as well.

Wheels and Tire Setup
I found a set of the 3rd gen 5 spokes on CL for $180, had to get some more center caps from another CL person though so I have a few spares. Got a set of Cooper Discoverer STT Pro's, 295/70R17. They are super quiet on the road, but unfortunately they rub my nerf bars a bit when making tight turns for parking. Thankfully it isn't an issue just driving around.

High idle switch
I took my truck to the dealer to have the computer flashed and the idle software turned on. My switch didn't work so I went back and had them do it again. It turns out they had done everything right the first time except turn the idle option on.

New paint on the way!
New paint makes the truck almost feel new again, what color you going with?

LED Headlights
I currently have 5 Auxbeam LED lights on my truck, 2 spots under the rear bumper, 2 spots on my headache rack and a 20" bar on the grill guard. I installed all of them last summer, they all still work great, no yellowing, no moisture accumulation and they definitely got wet this winter. I paid $40 for all 4 spots and $50 for the bar, all on Amazon. I plan on getting a 30" bar to replace the 20" so it completely fills the gap on my grill guard.

LED Headlights
I tried a set of LED bulbs and never even got to install them. They wouldn't work at all when I plugged them in to the harness, moved the pins around and could only get high beams to work. I called tech support and was told that due to the stupid way our trucks are wired, the LED's wouldn't work. They sent me some 5k HID's with a relay kit in exchange. They work a lot better than the silverstar ZXE bulbs I was using. I adjusted my headlights down a bit as well as I see people say they are too bright in a stock housing. I got in my friends car and drove at my truck and they aren't near as bright as these new car HIDs, plus it's been two weeks now and nobody has flashed me either.

Instrument gauges clear plastic cover??
I take mine off to dust it out once in a while. I little clear plastic polish or even chrome polish will help remove any light scratches you may have as well.

Dash or dash cover
My truck has one of the hard plastic covers. The dealership installed it the day before I got it. It's not bad, the casual observer probably couldn't tell it's a cover but the auto or detail oriented people like us would notice. They didn't do the best job installing it though so it could have turned out better if someone who cared was installing it. I plan on doing a full replacement dash this year.

Code Reader
I have an SGII which came in handy yesterday. I installed my BD stealth cover and had to turn the ignition on with the APPS disconnected to test the connection. That caused me to get a P0122 code which I was able to read and delete.

What to Watch for on Windshield Replacement
I've had 5 windshields replaced at Safelite and never had an issue. They come with a warranty against leaks and defects as well. They even did a great job on my 67 mustang and my friends 79 Trans Am.

Smarty rental
Sorry, I'm still a large child, no mufflers on my rides. My neighbor is deaf if that helps...and no he's not deaf because of me.

Block heater temp
My friend has a 6.0 and says his truck heats up really quick. My old 7.3 IDI didn't warm up terribly quick, but was quicker than my cummins which seems odd since I think my IDI had 3 more gallons of coolant to heat up. The IDI did have a cold idle though so that may have been the difference. Now my cummins has the cold/3cyl idle just in time for the weather to warm up. At least I will be more comfortable next year.

Steering
I'm on my second reman box, technically 3rd since the PO had replaced it before. I replaced that one because it was leaking, but the new one had 1/2 turn of play. The one I have now causes the truck to pull to the right and still has about 1/4 turn of play. Everything else was replaced and brace was added before the box, had it aligned twice, had tires rotated. Maybe 3rd time is the charm?

Idle switch installed, no high idle.
I went back to the dealer this morning to have the reflash checked out. I guess the first tech did everything except actually turn the high idle function on. After 20 minutes I was good to go, tried the switch in the lot and it's working great now.

Block heater temp
That's what mine does as well. I need to get a new timer for my plug, it quit working the first month.

Idle switch installed, no high idle.
- Idle switch installed, no high idle.
- Sport headlights installed
Those look good, not too euro like. I did the relay upgrade on my 67 mustang, I was told to go to broncograveyard and order their harness as it was the same setup used for the mustang, just cheaper for some reason. The DAP relay seems a bit excessive at $150 though, my mustang kit was only $50. I know there's a few more parts being a quad light setup, but it still doesn't add up. - Idle switch installed, no high idle.
