  1. While on the topic of protecting ones self and I hope this is not too far off topic but anyone who owns and Eotech Hologrphic Weapons Sight (HWS) needs to be WELL aware of this ESPECIALLY if you use or may use your Eotech HWS to protect your or others lives. http://forum.tractorfarmandfamily.com/topic/3531-maker-of-eotech-sights-pays-256-million-to-settle-fraud-lawsuit/ Yet another clear example of government and corporate corruption. I will have to give credit to L3 Communications (the parent company of Eotech) they are offering full refunds plus $15 shipping. I have my RMA authorization but have not made up my mind yet. I really like my Eotech. In the mean time you may want to buy a backup weapons sight system to keep in the safe in the event these Eotech HWS take a dump. I bought a BURRIS 1-4x24mm SKULL-TAC 30mm BALLISTIC CQ RETICLE from Graf and Son. It was on sale for a smokin' hot price. http://www.grafs.com/retail/catalog/product/productId/26327 I am not so sure I want an Aimpoint Pro. I am still looking of another sight for a longer range AR, the Aimpoint is not suitable for that.
  2. The folks that made this video need to go back and read up on their history. They lost me when they quoted Woodrow Wilson who was probably next to Lincoln one of the worst and most terroristic violent tyrants to every occupy the office of president. To quote Woodrow Wilson about "the ear of the president should ring with the will of the people" is crazy. Wilson imprisoned women and had them beaten. Wilson also ordered WW1 veterans protesting not being paid their benefits to be beaten and shot. Woodrow Wilson is the classic example that Obama idolizes. I really hate to be the party pooper on this as the video was pretty cool but they shot themselves in the foot right out of the gate.
  3. This is what happens when we vote for "Republicans". Show me just ONE who has done what they promised when running for office. Ted Cruz has come the closest but even he disgusted me with his political games during the Transpacific Trade Partnership legislative haggling. He STILL has not come clean and explained himself. Now we have the progressive socialist Paul Ryan for House Speaker who has given away EVERYTHING. Why vote when this crap continues??? If any voting is to be done, it should be to recall these Marxist liars.
  4. Sorry JAG1 and I surely mean NOTHING personal. We agree 99.9% but this time I have to differ. This "woman" is a big government, spy happy, cop sucking, money grubbing, tyrant who behaved as such when on the bench. Public beating and hanging would be too good for her in my opinion. I cannot begin to imagine the lives this "woman" has destroyed with her arrogant, hubristic, progressive attitude while on the bench. Every time I she this babbling wench on the TV I feel compelled to throw something at it. You can't listen to what people like this say, you have to watch what their actions are. Jeanine Pirro would not even make a modest pimple on the *** of Judge Andrew Napolitano who IS in my opinion a Constitutional Libertarian as well as an honest and decent man as far as I know. He may surprise me tomorrow but so far he not only talks the talk but walks the walk.
  5. How about opening up a year round hunting season on wolves allowing ANY gun, no limits, any methods except poisoning. This is what happens when "Democrats" & "Republicans" (read progressive Marxists & moderate progressive Marxists) get involved with HUGE, MASSIVE, CORRUPT, and HOPELESSLY OVERBLOATED Government. There is and was a VERY good reason why wolves, grizzly bears, cougars, and panthers as well as a few others are now very rare or close to extinction. Humans and their livestock DO NOT like being on the menu!!! In the mean time I suggest that you be VERY tactical, cunning, and low key as possible using your favorite extreme long range rifle and follow the rule of the 3 S's after pulling the trigger.
  6. Just a follow up to this moral and constitutional disaster. Here are the names of the trigger happy state sponsored terrorists who murdered Jack Yantis: Cody Roland and Brian Wood http://www.kivitv.com/news/adams-county-sheriffs-deputies-identified-in-deadly-shooting Here is the latest from the widow of Jack Yantis: http://www.kivitv.com/news/exclusive-jack-yantis-wife-speaks-out Here is some whinning and crying by the murderer Brian Wood: http://www.ktvb.com/story/news/local/2015/12/08/deputy-brian-wood-facebook-post/77007122/ I can't vouch for the validity of this story but it is the latest and in my opinion sounds probable. WARNING! Take your blood pressure medication BEFORE reading: http://americanfreepress.net/white-rancher-killed-cold-blood-idaho-sheriffs-deputies/
  7. Did you remove or bypass the fuel filter canister on the engine? My reason for asking is that I decided to route my 1/2 big line kit through the engine fuel filter canister because it contains the fuel heater. Something you REALLY want to keep in a severe cold climate.
  8. Wow! That wood stove is the spittin' image of the old Fisher Grandma Bear wood stove. I have one and also have a Fisher fireplace insert. This are built like a WWII battle ship. Unfortunately Fisher went out of business back in 1982 due to the EPA and other reasons. Is Wrights Welding still manufacturing these wood stoves? If so, I would LOVE to buy one of their biggest models.
  9. I read this in Lew Rockwell this morning: https://www.lewrockwell.com/2015/11/gc-dilsaver/king-men-downed-barney-fifes/
  10. her0z, I had a similar issue when we moved into our house. Have you checked to see what kind and how much attic insulation you have? Fortunately for us, the house was already equipped with a Clayton wood furnace that had enough surplus capacity to over power the lack of (read NO attic insulation) insulation. When I put a new roof on the house, I had R-40 insulation blown into the attic and WOW! What a difference that made! My wood consumption drastically dropped to near half of what I was burning. I am also going on the presumption that the wood you are burning is properly cured and not wet. That I am sure you know will kill the heat output.
  11. Me78569, it is not a required thing to do as these engines will start and run without any cold start aids. I do this out of wanting to get the maximum life out of my truck batteries as a cold start with the IAT sensor reading less than approximately 60 degrees (59 to be more precise) results in the grid heaters being engaged until the IAT sensor sees 60 degrees or about 15-20 mph (typically with the door locks auto latch in my truck at least). http://articles.mopar1973man.com/general-cummins/32-air-system/102-grid-heater While the grid heaters are working, this places a tremendous load on the batteries and charging system. Over time this can shorten the life of the start batteries. It is also far less wear and tear starting an engine that has some degree of heat or pre-heating prior to start. It also rapidly accelerates the engine reaching full operating temperature. On edit: looks like you were posting while I was typing my reply. At temperatures in the extreme cold range below zero, I doubt pluging in the block heater will get the engine intake track warm enough in temperatures like -30 to cause the IAT to see 59 degrees. In temperatures like that, placing the transfer case in neutral and the transmission in 3rd gear will be required to get the transmission oil warm enough to make shifting reasonably normal. That or a transmission oil heater mod.
  12. Likewise, anytime I expect to drive my truck, I plug in the block heater either the night before or at least 4 or 5 hours prior to starting the engine. Usually this is enough to bring what the IAT sensor sees to not engage the grid heaters. If it is really cold (low 20's and lower) I let it idle for a few minutes with the exhaust brake engaged to get the coolant temperature up. I also install the winter front louvers on the grill to restrict as much cold air across the radiator and engine compartment. Note: If you use your block heater and have a cat, make sure you either blow the horn a few times or check under the hood to make sure it is not all warm and cozey in the engine compartment. Failure to do so can lead to a big mess under the hood and started the day off really bad.
  13. I suspect they are gonna get touchier. http://www.freedominourtime.blogspot.com/2015/11/justice-for-jack-yantis-dont-leave.html

  15. Edit note: I tried numerous times to post this reply last night but that forum would not accept it. Maybe it was some problems with my crappy ISP. Anyhow, I saved it and posted with no problem this morning. JAG1, I think it has a lot to do with how police are trained, the corporate mentality & culture, and the push to hire police officers who will comply with training goals at the expense of morality and moral hazard. This is just my opinion but I think a decent, caring person of moral standards and integrity would stand almost NO chance of being hired in most police departments. Police are trained in a manner that reinforces the premise that they are the superior being to be obeyed at ANY cost or force to gain compliance. This training reinforces the prime directive in the police officer's mind that the ALL important requirement is that they go home at the end of their shift WHATEVER the cost is to accomplish this. The private citizen is the enemy and therefore expendable. I wish this were NOT the case as the police were altogether a different breed in my younger years 40 to 50 years ago. I don't recognize who these immoral terrorists are now. https://westernrifleshooters.wordpress.com/2015/11/04/heroes-every-one-4/ https://westernrifleshooters.wordpress.com/2015/11/02/heroes-every-one-3/ http://www.cnn.com/2015/11/06/us/louisiana-child-shooting-officers-arrested/index.html It is not a matter of being a cop hater as I am NOT........all you have to do is look around you and read about it. You can fill pages and pages with stories just like this. The latest as of this morning http://www.idahostatesman.com/news/local/article43045458.html
  16. I am really surprised. Just got done reading this on Lew Rockwell's website. If he carries this story, it will get much more wide spread. https://www.lewrockwell.com/2015/11/william-norman-grigg/open-range-open-season/ Wild and Free, it pains me much to say that this is not just an ISP problem. It is a nationwide problem in just about EVERY police/sheriff department.
  17. This is the latest I have seen on this: https://westernrifleshooters.wordpress.com/2015/11/06/grigg-open-range-open-season-the-killing-of-jack-yantis/ http://freedominourtime.blogspot.com/2015/11/open-range-open-season-killing-of-jack.html Not exactly what you would say is impartial but what he writes about IS true.
  18. Mike, The times have changed. Not saying this is you or anyone here but I think it is safe to say and a pretty well accepted factoid that the average "America" (and I am being VERY generous here) is a "low information voter" not to mention readily accepts whatever local, state, or federal government tells or orders them to do or think. 75 years ago, this type of thing would not be tolerated in the least. The facts are not in about this particular instance but the police and law enforcement across the board have gone off the deep end. They are NOT peace officers, they are state sponsored and paid enforcers. 28 C.F.R. Section 0.85 defines exactly what they have become and what they are: http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/granule/CFR-2010-title28-vol1/CFR-2010-title28-vol1-sec0-85/content-detail.html (if you really like dry boring reading) https://www.fbi.gov/stats-services/publications/terror_98.pdf “...the unlawful use of force and violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives.” It goes on further to define Domestic Terrorism as: the unlawful use, or threatened use, of force or violence by a group or individual based and operating entirely within the United States or Puerto Rico without foreign direction committed against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof in furtherance of political or social objectives The latter definition describes precisely how current day law enforcement is employed, behaves, and pretty much the general scope of their mission. They are trained in a compatible posture to accommodate this mission. Hence why we are now seeing more and more examples like this rancher being shot. It is not a matter of a "few bad apples" either. http://www.seattlepi.com/news/us/article/AP-Hundreds-of-officers-lose-licenses-over-sex-6603433.php Not all cops are bad but not nearly as many as you think are good are. My point here is that when anyone is given absolute power, it almost always corrupts absolutely. There is little to no accountability for honest mistakes much less official or criminal misconduct. Perhaps the rancher DID do as you mentioned the hear say said and mistakenly fired his rifle taking it out of the case. The police response was questionable at best in view of the supposed facts of it being a very small community in which everyone knows each other. I have serious doubts if we will ever be able to read about what really happened much less full accountability upheld. If you or I were in place of the 2 deputies and shot the rancher, I seriously doubt the outcome for us would be the same as it would be for the deputies. America is supposedly fighting a "war on terror" but in my opinion she is fighting it in the WRONG place. The mission of "to protect and serve" the people & property of each community died out long ago. This rancher found out the hard way that the police are NOT your friend nor there to protect you or your property. In much the same fashion I did. Policing/Law Enforcement has virtually nothing to do with law and almost everything to do with political manipulation & corruption. The above having been said, I feeling horribly for the rancher Jack Yantis, his wife, family, and friends. Their community will never be the same after this and Sheriff Department and local police will NEVER be viewed with the same trust or support if they continue to have any. When things like this happen, there is one terrible law and its consequences NOBODY, not even law enforcement, & big government included is above or immune from.........the law of unintended consequences.
  19. I saw this story on Drudge. I am waiting to hear what the "facts" are. Something does not seem right.
  20. I just ordered a 5 gallon pail of Amsoil Synthetic power steering fluid. It cost $141.25 plus shipping. (preferred customer pricing) When you figure 40 pints in 5 gallons, that comes to about $3.53 per pint. I use a oil vaccum like what boat owners use to suck the engine oil out of the dip stick to vacuum out the power steering fluid from the reservoir. I do this each oil change. Sometimes I will refill, the reservoir, start up the engine and turn the steering lock to lock a few times and then vacuum out the reservoir a 2nd time. Over time the fluid eventually all gets changed and the fluid in the power steering system stays pretty fresh and clean. https://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-product/other-products/power-steering-fluid/
  21. He actually wants to up Obamacare and go to a single payer/everybody is covered system. It is what Obama actually wanted all along but could not get passed.
  22. I don't much care for the Body Guard .380 either. It is barely enough gun and probably not even that but you can't carry that Smith hog leg in gym shorts and a T-shirt. The only reason I suggest the body guard is due to its small size, light weight and concealability. A concealed gun is better than no gun. It is not practical nor safe to carry a gun that can be detected in this day and age especially with the trigger happy, corrupt cops out there these days. In cooler weather yes........I absolutely get your drift and I prefer a in a Galco Jackass Rig. For more formal attire and lighter weight I go to the in a Jackass Rig or thin clothed casual a in a Galco Ankle Glove which does take some training and practice to use.
  23. Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner here! Yes, my preference is a 45 acp but you have to live in the "real' world. You can carry what you can 100% hide, conceal, and draw in a tactical situation. The American public is hopelessly hoplophobic and ANY cintila of the prospect that you may possibly be carrying a firearm will draw MASSIVE UNWANTED attention to YOU. The firearm that you CAN successfully carry in Church, the supermarket, library, or any other public place is what you want. Yes, whenever possible I carry a in a Galco Jackass rig, but Summer temperatures and seasonal wear does not always permit that. In shorts, a T shirt that kind of rig just stands out like sore thumb and is just begging for trouble. A Body Guard in a Desantis Super Fly is concealable like your wallet. NOBODY knows. THAT is the best way to carry. A gun you can carry anywhere concealed is FAR better than no gun at all and a gun that grabs much unwanted attention.
  24. When we bought the wife's Honda Element it had a set of Hankook Optimo 727's installed. They wore very well, handled well, were quiet, and over all a very good tire in my opinion. I liked them so well, I have been installing them on all of our vehicles as they need new tires. They come with a 100,000 mile tread wear warranty. You might give them a look. So far I have purchased 4 sets of these tires and I am VERY satisfied and a happy camper with these tires.
  25. Looks like I made a mistake in the oils I linked to. Here is the correct info. http://www.phillips66lubricants.com/brands-products/Single.aspx?pid=393 http://www.phillips66lubricants.com/brands-products/Single.aspx?pid=186&brand=Phillips+66 It rained yesterday and today so I have not been able to do the oil change out and cover installs yet. I will post my results and impression with the 50 weight synthetic in the NV5600. I read a few posts over on TDR and see where a few folks used Mobil Delvac Synthetic Transmission Fluid 50 Wt. and mixed with 50/50 with an MS 9224 rated oil and had good results. I will try it straight and see how it does and if I have shifting issues dilute it down with Pennzoil Syncromesh.
